The name is fine, could have been a lot worse (but seriously....Red Hogs was right there), I'm just upset they don't have a cartoon-y George Washington wearing a leather helmet and in the Heisman pose as the logo. Something fun like the Frisco Roughriders Teddy Roosevelt logo

I presume they would be accused of ripping off the Nats' president mascots.

Given that football is tied into the military industrial complex, maybe they could have John Paul Jones, MacArthur, Chuck Yeager and Dick Murdoch as mascots.

Just to show how much the NFL is covering for Dan Snyder - they made an agreement with him that no written report of the Wilkinson report could be released with out Snyder's consent

Quote

One month later after inking the agreement with Wilkinson, a second document entitled a "Common Interest Agreement" dated September 8, 2020, details how the NFL and the team pledged to pursue a "joint legal strategy," agreeing not to share any privileged documents or information exchanged during the investigation without the consent of both the NFL and the team.

The signatures of the two individuals who signed the agreement are redacted, with only "Washington Football Team" and "National Football League, Inc." visible under the signature line.

In a statement, the congressional committee says the document "appears to apply retroactively to July 16, 2020 - the beginning of the internal investigation by Ms. Wilkinson."

Committee lawyers and staff have interpreted this to mean that under this agreement, "the NFL may not have been able to release the results of the Wilkinson investigation to the public without the permission of team owner Daniel Snyder, who himself has been accused of multiple acts of sexual misconduct by his employees, most recently during yesterday's Committee roundtable," according to the statement issued by the committee Friday morning.

When asked to clarify whether the team had discussed, threatened or asserted its privilege under the terms of the agreement, attorneys for the team told the committee, "The Team, and the NFL, have always acted in a manner consistent with the maintenance of that privilege, and there have been discussions, too numerous to recount (which are themselves privileged), regarding the preservation of that privilege."

Its not like there will be a written report anyway.

Their claim - it was buried at the end of the release - is that they will release a report to the public.

So either it’s gonna be NOTHING TO SEE HERE~! or everything will be blamed on Bruce Allen and since he is gone PROBLEM SOLVED~!

The NFL sought approximately 109,000 team documents related to the investigation that were previously shared with Wilkinson’s firm, Wilkinson Stekloff, and are in the possession of a third-party vendor, the league’s attorneys wrote in the letter, a copy of which was obtained by The Washington Post.

“That vendor refused to provide the NFL or even Wilkinson Stekloff with access to the documents unless the team consented because of its concern that it could be sued by the team or its owner," the attorneys wrote. "The NFL promptly directed the team to provide its consent to the vendor, but the team repeatedly has refused to do so.”

The NFL wrote in the letter that “the team has insisted that it will only authorize the vendor to release those documents to the team, so that the team’s counsel can review the documents for privilege first … before deciding unilaterally which documents it will provide to the NFL for production to the Committee.” The league told the committee that it viewed this proposed approach as “unacceptable” because it “it would prevent the NFL from ensuring that it can produce all responsive, non-privileged documents to the Committee and would delay our production decisions.”

The team made a revised proposal Monday, the NFL wrote to the committee, that involved “assurances to them that their release of the documents would not result in any waiver of privilege by them.” The league will seek clarification from the team on that new proposal, the NFL’s attorneys wrote, and is willing to agree to either of the team’s proposed approaches if the committee wishes.

The NFL is getting what it deserves for its bungling of this case

Oh yeah that was a thing yesterday

That being said - most of the local reporters said it was clear that Riggins was just doing it just to get paid and there was one interview where Riggins pretty much implied that if the team pays him enough they can sell all the Commanders jerseys with his name on it they want
