I've been lurking the DVDVR for a while now. I never did figure out what that whole Foghat thing was about.

Dean and Schneider hatched the idea to break into factions for 10 issues in the build up for DVDVR 100 because you know by 1999 factions weren't played out or anything.

I legit think one of the groups was Foghat because Dean had just heard "Slow Ride" on the radio

If I recall the big thing with Shayna/Dakota couple theory is that Shayna's father mentioned Shayna bringing Dakota home with her on one of the holidays.

Tumblr people have also documented biking and camping trips that have shown up on both's social media at the same time, them working out in the same home gym, posts from the around same time at the same backyard pool, and Shayna showing up on Dakota's Twitch and even using Dakota's set-up to do a segment on The Bump. Internet sleuths seem to have a good deal of circumstantial evidence and both seem happy enough to encourage the speculation. AFAIK, they've dropped more hints online than Seth and Becky or Mox and Renee.

I could swear that Shayna brought Dakota to her parent's house for Thanksgiving because Dakota posted about how good it felt to be welcomed or something along those lines.

Oh shit, I had forgotten about that!  I think I kicked in $5 for it.

Pivoting to actual wrestling does anyone have the 12/6/2002 Tenryu/Tenta vs Mutoh/Animal match that they could upload?  It was on youtube but the account got nuked.

To expand on DZ's post, WWE or Facebook or both looks to have inadvertently spoiled the match gimmick with a graphic on Facebook.

@D.Z may want to consider spoilering his post, but I'm not sure how many people even give a crap.

Tuesday morning and there are eight replies to the Raw thread. I think most of us are good.

I can't recall another time where I was this disinterested in Raw. I mean, I'd say my interest level in the Goon and TL Hopper and Mantaur days was higher than it is now. I don't even think it's the quarantine atmosphere that put me off. Everything feels old and stale and it's a major bummer because I really like Drew.

I just remembered I modelled an early article I did for a movie review website on the DVDR road reports (we made a group outing to a blockbuster I can’t recall now). Thankfully it’s been scrubbed from existence.

Not that you’re wrong, but they do some the groundwork for those out of nowhere turns on the YouTube backstage interviews. For example, Nikki Cross laid the groundwork for teaming up with Bliss on those, but since it was never on TV it appeared out of nowhere. That said, it seems more like the talent use that avenue to set things up rather than something actively used by the writers/producers.

Other DVDVR memories include sponsoring a MMA fighter and my former DVDVR Law posters Sven and DevinIntervention.

Gilbert Melendez, for his Shooto fight against Rumina Sato. IMSMR we chipped in about $2000, good enough for our URL to get some primo real estate on his trunks.

And then the fight lasted 90 seconds, so our ROI was basically nil. ?

Guest Edwin

I began browsing around in 2002 and began posting on the rare occasion around 2003 or so and mostly just posted results from shows in Puerto Rico I got to attend so I didn't post anything noteworthy to most. I found this place through several other indy wrestling message boards. They would always talk about this board, so I eventually began browsing around as I was a kid back then. I did love the old top matches lists for WWF, WCW, ECW, Joshi, Lucha, etc. that were posted back on the site many years before the 80's projects.

I also remember someone had this as their avatar:

300?cb=20110722143547

Don't recall who it was, but that was one of the coolest regular avatars back then.

And someone also had a gif signature that said Pro-Wrestling in Japan was a sport, in Mexico it was a tradition and in America it was a joke with a photo of Vince. Oof.

So, um, does anybody else remember when we had a porn subforum?

Bix got rid of it. He was well into cancel culture before it actually existed.

Apparently a bunch of WWE Network content will be available when Peacock launches tomorrow

The Broken Skull Sessions is the one thing I remember for certain being available

I miss Dean’s Smackdown comix

Consider buying Orange Crush. Someone does a seven-eight page review of JJSB from last year's Mania week, that's basically a Smackdown Comix tribute act. Even though it's also a road report.

@Matt D, your Secret Santo Thread kept me sane for the month+ I was out of work.   My wife was/is a an essential worker and I worried quite a bit. Having an avenue for @Curt McGirt to sling me some Hashimoto bangers gave me something for my mind to focus on. I know it’s not a nostalgia moment from years past, but it’ll be something I feel I’ll remember as a part of a crazy time in my life. It was a fun thread.

They, along with Mia Yim and Jessamyn Duke, share a house. Shayna has also popped up on their streams here and there, from what I've seen on social media. Not saying they aren't together. As you mentioned, there is circumstantial evidence that makes it plausible.

Which is silly in hindsight, because the conversations in that forum were some of the best on the board. Nearly everyone was respectful.

There used to be a guy who posted a superhero comic in the Miscellaneous subforum. The lead character was named Carl, I think. I believe it was a L.A. Park who posted them? They were great, I miss them.

Dang internet sleuths not providing me with full context is something I should have seen coming. Merci.

I still remember him trying to give me shit for listening to Motorhead. Got a pretty good Lemmy rant on racism from Youtube for him to watch nowadays.

The Foghat thing I can see, but Hollandaise? Did somebody happen to have Eggs Benedict that morning too?

I think I joined in 2006 maybe 2005 but I really think it was 2006. I may have started reading the reviews in 05 but not joined until 06. I’ve never given it much thought.

I remember and this was the summer of 05 I found The Chikara Podcast A Go Go on iTunes it was an early video podcast then I started listening to what was it called Smart Wrestling Fan Review or something with Wiggly and Joe. I digress but what I’m trying to say is I found the Chikara Podcast and it was just clips of matches from shows months before. It was a vehicle to sell DVDs but I was enamored it was the first Indy footage I had seen so long story short I stumbled upon one of the DVDVR’s Not long after where there was a deep dive into Chikara and from then on my be been on this board. I’ve had a couple names. I can’t remember my first name but I got banned and I don’t remember what I did then I was Omar Little for like 6 years until there was that big board switch when the url went from board.deathvalleydriver.com to deathvalleydriver.com/forum and then I decided to use my real name cuz I thought that would be a good way to stay grounded on the internet of my name was attached to it not that I’m screaming about Pizza Gate on the internet or anything but that’s why I use my name.

I was either 15 or 16 when I found this board and I’m turning 31 so yeah add to the list of members who have had been here for half if not more than half their lives. I discovered so much wrestling that wasn’t mainstream. No way I would have discovered none mainstream Japanese wrestling, If it wasn’t for this board I wouldn’t know anything about the indy scene. This place has influenced my pro wrestling tastes immensely.
