For the person who posted the story about Ophidian and his daughter, he seems solid.

Thanks for the heads-up on this.  I feel better at least for the preservation of my time a that show with my kid.  And, looking back, the entire show itself was packed with what apparently were the some of the best of those who were in Chikara ar the time (Kingston, Taylor, the Ants we know, 'Wicked, Frightmare, Donst, etc.).  Some bad characters were there too, but they were outnumbered.

Comment left on Quack's apology video -

Quote

i told travis huckabee i had a neck issue and asked if it would be a problem in early training and he said no then he had me do a bridge on my neck after doing an hour of bumps and rolls and stepped onto my body with his full weight, putting it entirely on my neck. i was then injured and couldnt return to training. lmao.

the idea that your school would never intentionally hurt someone is kind of a joke after that because even if your trainers didnt do it out of malice they did out of ignorance and your total lack of vetting and oversight is responsible

also quack immediately ended correspondence with me and ignored questions after he got the info he needed (i wasnt going to sue.) until then he was playing a perfect gentleman about it.

it worked for Art Barr in the 90s

(it won't be as easy for less good workers though)

Barr had the benefit of not having to worry about seeing his name trending on Twitter. How many people in Mexico actually knew he was a rapist?

then again, Luke Heimlich got a job in the Mexican Baseball League last year after his prospects at an MLB career disappeared after it was found that he pled guilty to molesting his 6 year old niece when he was 15. These days Heimlich denies the charges and said he pled guilty to get it over with.

and I didn't see clips of the Quack video until seeing the two videos in the tweets and holy fuck.. that's not how you do it.

Using his promo-voice is also not the smartest choice if he wants people to take this as a heartfelt apology.

One of his former trainees said he had a speech impediment as a kid and had speech therapy. As a kid who had speech classes, and whose daughter now had speech therapy this year, I believe that. Also, having gone to more Chikara shows than I can count and having heard him in earshot in casual conversation, I also believe that’s just how he talks day to day.

He has a lot to answer for, and I’m not here to defend him, but ableism ain’t cool either, and two wrongs don’t make a right.

Yeah, I am not buying that. To think that such a video in this form is a good idea, needs much more than speech impediment. For god's sake, he started with "I'm Mike Quackenbush", basically saying that everything afterwards might be a work.

Yeah, there's so much affectation going on in terms of body language and facial expression in that video, that even if that is how he talks on the regular, it doesn't matter at all in my eyes. Hard pass.

UK wrestlers are unionizing under Equity

What I do know at this point is that Equity are holding a meeting with several female wrestlers tonight, and have spoken to wrestlers they have a pre-existing relationship with in order to best facilitate that, and to ensure the right people are being represented. My understanding is that it will be the first of several meetings, and that Equity are taking all of this very seriously, and looking to further include wrestling in their existing Safe Space and anti-harassment policies. Equity reps at the meeting will include parliamentary liaisons, lawyers specialising in harassment and abuse in the entertainment industry, and long-standing Equity members with experience of tackling harassment in other entertainment fields.

To play devils advocate, if he had said “I’m making this video not as Mike Quackerbush, but as Michael Spillane,” wouldn’t that be mocked too?

That first video is tough to get through. It's a lot of unintelligible VM messages without subtitles, so I have no real idea of what he is saying in them.

Man, that second video comes off very "Crystal Meth Christian" if you know what I mean. Like all the real deep religious horseshit tends to come out of folks when they are in the middle of a stimulant bender. Not that her word would mean any less if she is on drugs, but it makes it hard to follow what she is talking about when she is spouting off about how we are going into war in a "spiritual battle" and how the light will vanquish the darkness.
