Wasn't there some promo where Hogan's in the ring doing a promo and then spots The Wall watching him from like 5 miles away in a hotel room, and even with the benefit of the camera zooming in, can barely make him out?

Yeah, Hogan kept on repeating, "It's The Wall, it's The Wall, Brother!"

Great American Bash 2000 6/11-From Baltimore-TWO WEEKS AGO: Goldberg returns to help Nash against Rick Steiner & Tank Abbott. Nash would return the favor the next week.-Security is outside in case Goldberg shows up.-Hosts are Tony, Mark, & Scott-Match 1 for the Cruiserweight Championship: Lt. Loco (a.k.a. Chavo Guerrero Jr.) [c] (w/Misfits in Action) VS Disco Inferno (w/Filthy Animals)-How in the hell did Disco join the Filthy Animals? Pretty fast start, and Disco hits a hot shot before crotch-chopping toward the M.I.A. Chavo sends Disco outside where he is jumped by the male M.I.A. members as Hudson notes that Disco really should be the "Hip Hop Inferno". Chavo sends Disco outside again, this time on the FA side, before following with a dive. Disco beats Chavo back inside, and knocks him to the floor, but the M.I.A. intervene before the FA can attack Chavo."Pops" comes out, but gets scared into a heart attack by Konnan. Juvy slides in and attacks Chavo, but misses a people's elbow. Lash returns the favor by laying out Disco, then puts Chavo on top (in clear view of the ref) for the pin. Match was alright before the goofiness at the end.-Major Gunns (very reluctantly) "revives" pops.-Security tries to soothe a worried Bischoff, who doesn't want his big surprise for Nash ruined. The Cat is there too.-Mean Gene interviews The Mamalukes, who have a #1 Contender's match against KroniK. There is some confusion as to who is the hardcore champion, as Vito claims it and wears the belt, but Gene indicates that Johnny has a claim to the title.-Match 2: The Mamalukes VS KroniK-KroniK dominate early as Tony explains that the Mamalukes helped Bischoff take the hardcore title from Terry Funk, and that Vito has simply assumed that it's his. Vito wears the belt as he wrestles, which Charles Robinson allows for no particular reason. The Mamalukes only manage to get offense when Vito is in there, as KroniK give Johnny nothing. Adams hits a full nelson slam on Johnny for two, with Vito making the save before shining up his title belt. The crowd chants "New York sucks" as KroniK work over Johnny. Vito gets in, and immediately turns the tide on Adams, before missing an avalanche to give control back to KroniK, who finally take the belt off Vito and casually toss it aside. Adams hits a spectacularly fucked-up F-5, dropping Vito on his head for two. Vito tags Johnny, and puts the belt back on as Johnny does a springboard cross-body onto nothing. Vito shines the belt and misses a tag, allowing KroniK to finish Johnny with the High Times double-team chokeslam. This was more about splitting the Mamalukes than anything else.-Pamela Paulshock interviews DDP, who dismisses the "Career Killer" nickname Mike Awesome has before saying he has a surprise for Awesome tonight.-Match 3: Mike Awesome VS DDP [Ambulance Match]-DDP wheels out Kanyon, who is also in a puffy back brace and a halo. There's only one thing Kanyon can do while he's out there, and it's NOT going to help DDP. The ref gets bumped seconds in, then they promptly go outside. Back in, they do a dueling chairs spot, which DDP wins. That advantage doesn't last long, as Awesome hits a back elbow to regain control. Awesome works DDP over as Kanyon stares blankly, mouth agape. Awesome sets up a table, and defies all wrestling logic by actually putting DDP through it without any problems. EMTs put DDP on the stretcher and wheel it up the entrance, but DDP rolls off it before it gets very far.Awesome uses a chair to work DDP over, then hits a couple frog splashes before putting chairs underneath and on top of DDP. Awesome tries a third splash, which misses. Kim rushes out and cracks DDP across the back with a pipe, before Stacy runs out and pulls her away from ringside. Awesome tries for a top rope powerbomb, but DDP counters with a low blow, and hits a second rope Diamond Cutter.DDP walks with the EMTs as they wheel Awesome towards the ambulance. Bischoff's music hits, and he threatens Kanyon with a chair. DDP takes out Bischoff, but Kanyon SHOCKINGLY throws off his protection and hits a Kanyon Kutter off the ramp through a table, which allows Awesome to get DDP on the stretcher and throw him in the ambulance. This was alright before the nonsensical turn by Kanyon.-Match 4: G.I. Bro (Booker T) VS World Tag Team Champion Shawn Stasiak [boot Camp Match]-In this case, "Boot Camp" = "Last Man Standing". Because nothing bad has ever happened while doing this stunt, Booker uses a zipline for his entrance. Booker beats the shit out of Stasiak to start, then throws him into the front row. Back in the ring, Booker hits a double axe handle off the top, and gets an eight count. Stasiak turns the tide, and hits a flying back elbow for an eight count. They make their way up the entrance, where Stasiak hits a suplex on the ramp for an eight count. Back in the ring, Stasiak hits a flying clothesline for a nine count. Stasiak keeps control as they go on the outside for a bit, then when they get back in, Stasiak hits a gutwrench powerbomb for a nine count. Stasiak slaps on a sleeper, which draws a sizeable "boring" chant. Booker comes back with a modified Angle Slam, but walks into a back elbow. Booker shrugs that off, and hits the Harlem Side Kick followed by the Book End for a nine count.Chuck Palumbo (armed with a Lex Flexer) runs out, but gets laid out by Booker. That does allow Stasiak to hit Booker in the nuts with the weapon for eight. The tag champs double-team Booker, who gets no help from his fellow M.I.A. members. Booker makes a comeback anyway, and KO's Stasiak with the Lex Flexer for the win. This was pretty bad as Stasiak did nothing with his control segment, and subsequence LMS matches have made the near-finishes in this match really weak.-Kanyon explains that he turned on DDP because no one came to see him at the hospital aside from Awesome & Bischoff, and Bischoff explained that he could take DDP's spot by putting him out. Mean Gene shows Kanyon some footage from moments ago, which sees DDP get out of the ambulance and stay at the arena. We also get a glimpse of Goldberg's monster truck. Kanyon dubs himself "Positively Kanyon".-Shane Douglas says he's going to define his career by eliminating the Wall, and challenges him to a "Best of Five Tables Match", which Madden points out really means "Best of Nine" since you have to put your opponent through five tables to win.-Match 5: Shane Douglas VS The Wall [Tables Match]-The Wall immediately hits a big boot and a gorilla press before stopping to talk some shit to Douglas. The Wall shrugs off a high knee, but takes a thumb to the eye and a front suplex. Douglas sends Wall outside,  then hits a baseball slide, which sends Wall skittering across a table, but not through it. Douglas tries to suplex Wall through a table, but he fights that off, and Wall chokeslams Douglas through a table to go up 1-0.Douglas tries to fight back and ram Wall into the ring post, but Wall counters, and hits a back suplex throgh a table to go up 2-0, as Hudson gets word that this is "Best of Five", not "Best of Nine".Douglas lures Wall towards the entrance, where there are tables conveniently stacked up near ladders. Douglas goads Wall into climbing a ladder next to a stack of three tables, then uses a pair of brass knucks to sends Wall off the ladder through three tables to win 3-2. This was a nothing match, but I'll admit it takes talent to book a cheap finish to a "Best of Five" tables match.-The Wall rises from the dead and gives Slick Johnson a dangerous chokeslam through a table.-OUTSIDE THE ARENA: Hulk Hogan (in full Hollywood gear) arrives over an hour into the show.-Match 6: Tank Abbott VS United States Champion Scott Steiner (w/Hooches) [steel Asylum Match]-BPP & Tank fight it out before the Asylum is lowered, and an announcement is made that Bischoff & Russo have added Rick Steiner to make it a 2-on-1 handicap match against BPP. Rick & Tank beat the crap out of BPP as the mini-cage lowers. Rick holds BPP as Tank takes off his gloves, then suddenly grows a conscience and tells turns on Tank when Tank reveals he has a chain. Rick takes the bullet for Scott, which allows BPP to hit a low blow, a chain shot, and finish with the Recliner. This was more of an angle than a match.-OUTSIDE: A limo pulls up, and the Flair family (sans David) arrives.-A video previews Hogan/Kidman.-Mean Gene interviews Hogan, who tells Gene that "blood is thicker than New Blood" when Gene mentions Horace being the ref.-Match 7: Billy Kidman VS Hollywood Hogan [special Guest Ref: Horace Hogan, World Title Shot VS Career]-Don't know why Hogan is so antsy to get a title shot, since Ric Flair was supposed to have one at this show, and he's fighting David instead. Hogan comes out to the nWo music. Hogan completely dominates Kidman (big shock there) for the first few minutes. They go outside, where Hogan grabs a chair, but Kidman manages to dropkick the chair into Hogan's face. Hogan doesn't let that bother him, and he immediately goes back on offense. Kidman hits a DDT on a chair for two, then complains to Horace about Horace calling things cleanly.Hogan starts no-selling clubs to the back, and Hulks Up. They go outside, where Hogan tosses Kidman through the announce table. Madden accidentally calls Kidman "Pete" and Torrie makes her way down. Torrie gets on the apron and hands Hogan brass knucks, but Kidman knocks Hogan into Torrie, gets a hold of the knucks, and clocks Hogan for two.Kidman KO's Horace with the knucks, but takes a low blow from Torrie, who leaves. Hogan gets the knucks, and KO's Kidman for the pin. This was pretty much an extended squash, and as such it made it ridiculous when the annouce team talked about Hogan "possibly" pulling this one out.-Bischoff calls someone in Montana, then doesn't take it well when one of the cops tries to tell him that everything is under control.-The crew talks about what just happened during Hogan/Kidman.-A video previews Flair VS Flair.-Paulshock wishes David luck "because you're gonna need it", which sets David & Russo off.-Mean Gene interviews Flair, who promises to "style and profile" before adding "GO HULKSTER GO!".-The Flair Family take their seats.-Match 8: David Flair (w/Vince Russo) VS Ric Flair-Ric's career is on the line here. After casually showing him up, Naitch then turns around and does his best to make David look credible when it's time for David to go on offense. Ric goes back on offense, and lights his son up with chops. David clotheslines Ric outside, where Russo handcuffs Ric's hands together. David gets a figure 4, and help from Russo.Ric escapes and Russo tries to get involved again, only to take a low blow from Reid, who grabs the handcuff key. David throws Reid down, but Charles Robinson uncuffs Ric, then Ashley Flair cuffs Russo as Ric goes back on offense. Ric beats the shit out of David, then mercifully finishes with the figure 4. This was what it was. Ric kept it somewhat interesting. IIRC, David & Russo would beat Ric the next night on Nitro to send him into "retirement".-Naitch gets a chop on Russo and celebrates with the rest of the family. Russo gets on the house mic and challenges Flair for Nitro.-Video previews Vampiro/Sting.-Match 9: Vampiro VS Sting [Human Torch Match]-As the name implies, the only way to win is to set your opponent on fire. Sting sets on top of the big screen and challenges Vampiro to meet him there. Vampiro refuses, so Sting lights a torch from on top of the screen, then walks to the ring. Sting dominates off the bat, but misses a Stinger Splash, and Vampiro douses Sting with gasoline. They fight towards the big screen and start to climb. Vampiro kicks Sting down from part of the way up, and Sting crashes through a table. They eventually make their way to the top of the screen, and Sting's lighting effects start going off, probably to hide when the stunt man takes his place. They fight up there for an eternity, until Vampiro sets "Sting" on fire with the torch, and "Sting" falls off the screen and crashes through the entrance ramp. This sucked really hard. A bad idea that was badly executed.-The crew react to the death of Sting.-Paulshock tries to get what the big surprise is out of Bischoff, who angrily dismisses her and says that the big surprise is that there isn't one.-Match 10 for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship: Jeff Jarrett [c] VS Kevin Nash-Before the match starts, The Cat comes out to introduce some people who will be involved in the match: guest bell ringer Konnan, guest time keeper Rey Mysterio, special "belt keeper" Disco Inferno, and special ring announcers Juvy before revealing himself to be a special enforcer.Slow start as Nash overpowers Jarrett until everyone at ringside provides a distraction, allowing Jarrett to get the jump on him. Nash works Jarrett over at a glacial pace. They go outside where Nash looks to send Jarrett into the post, but Jarrett counters. Jarrett's advantage doesn't last long, and Nash sends him into the crowd, where Nash works Jarrett over. Back to ringside, where Rey attacks Nash with a chair, injuring Nash's knee. Back in the ring, Jarrett works on the knee as the crowd chants for Goldberg.Jarrett goes for a figure 4, but Nash throws him off. Jarrett goes right back to the knee, and settles on a half crab. Nash grabs the ropes to escape, then Jarrett gets the figure 4. After about two minutes, Nash grabs the ropes to escape that. Konnan hits Nash with the bell, and Jarrett gets two. Nash makes a comeback (not bothering to sell the knee), and hits a side slam for two. Nash fights off some of Jarrett's help, then KO's Jarrett with the belt, but Disco attacks the ref, and the numbers game catches up to Nash.Jarrett gets a near-fall with the Cat counting. Nash fights off more interference, but Jarrett sneaks in with The Stroke for two. Jarrett goes for a guitar shot, but Nash counters into a chokeslam, but the Cat gets something in his eye after a two count. Nash takes care of Cat, and hits the Jackknife, but Rick Steiner keeps Robinson from counting.Abbott tries to get involved, but is run off by BPP. Everyone left gangs up on Nash, until Goldberg makes his way down. Goldberg takes forever to spear Jarrett, then turns and spears Nash. Goldberg orders Jarrett to cover Nash, then puts the ref in position to count the pin. The match was simply wasting time before the Goldberg turn.-Goldberg embraces Bischoff & Russo, completing his nonsensical turn, and the New Blood celebrate to close the show.-FINAL THOUGHTS: This was a seriously shitty show. The matches suck, and the booking sucks. Neither of the big heel turns made sense, and only served to satiate Bischoff & Russo's love of swerves, which, by this time, people were starting to figure out, to the point where the biggest swerve would have been not to do one. It's not the worst GAB ever ('91 and '04 are worse), but it might be the worst PPV of 2000.-NEXT EVENT: Bash at the Beach 2000. Oh boy.

Hogan starts no-selling clubs to the back, and Hulks Up. They go outside, where Hogan tosses Kidman through the announce table. Madden accidentally calls Kidman "Pete" and Torrie makes her way down. Torrie gets on the apron and hands Hogan brass knucks, but Kidman knocks Hogan into Torrie, gets a hold of the knucks, and clocks Hogan for two.

Considering the booking patterns at the time, it probably wasn't an accident that Madden called him Pete.

I hate how hard they're pushing the 'sports-entertainment' line at this time. It just sounds so wrong in WCW, and shows how clueless Russo was about the fanbase. There's a point at Bash at the Beach where Hudson says "it's wrestling, read the marquee" in relation to something, and Madden corrects him with an "it's sports-entertainment". And then, to hammer it home, Tony says "let's go to our next sports-entrtainment contest" or something like that. Just, ugh.

Bash at the Beach 2000 7/9-From Daytona Beach-Hosts are Tony, Scott, & Mark-EARLIER TODAY: The Cat (now WCW Commissioner) tells his limo driver M.I. Smooth to tell the Filthy Animals & M.I.A. that they are banned from ringside for the Cruiserweight title match. He is then attacked by the Yung Dragons (complete with "oriental" music, which Cat can hear) before kicking them all in the nuts and walking away.-Match 1 for the Cruiserweight Championship: Lt. Loco [c] (w/M.I.A.) VS Juventud Guerrera (w/Filthy Animals)-In what has to be an inside-joke about the lack of communication within WCW, both stables that were supposedly banned from ringside come out with their representatives. Disco repeating everything Konnan says is pretty funny. Charles Robinson does manage to kick all the other people out from ringside before the match start. Hudson tries using the old "the marquee says wrestling" cliche' only to get "sports-entertainment" thrown back at him by Tony & Madden.Chavo hits an atomic drop and clotheslines Juvy out over the top, and Juvy takes a walk, selling the atomic drop more than anyone since Backlund's hey day. When Juvy gets back, Chavo suplexes him off the apron, then follows with a dive. Juvy comes back with corner punches and humps Chavo's face, but doesn't follow up, allowing Chavo to hit a big clothesline and regain control. They do a double-KO spot, then Chavo sends Juvy outside, and again follows with a dive. The Filthy Animals come out in masks (but same clothes) come out and provide a distraction, which Juvy takes advantage of, and he hits a springboard splash for two. Juvy hits a running Liger bomb for two, then a People's Elbow as the M.I.A. come down in masks. Gunns distracts Juvy, allowing Chavo to knock Juvy off the top for a visual pin, but the ref is still with M.I.A. Chavo blocks the Juvy Driver and hits an inverted suplex for two. Juvy then hits the 'Driver, but Chavo gets his foot on the ropes at two. Chavo hits a tornado DDT to retain. This was decent even with all the goofiness surrounding it. It did seem like they ran out of things to do at the end, and there was no transition between the big moves.-The Cat tries to tell the Yung Dragons off, but they don't understand what he means by them doing a "good job" at Thunder. Jarrett pops in looking for Hogan, and Jarrett has a fat lady with him, waiting to sing for Hogan.-Match 2 for the Hardcore Championship: Big Vito [c] VS ???-Vito was supposed to face Terry Funk, but he got hurt fighting Johnny the Bull on Thunder. Norman Smiley (w/Ralphus) comes out to be Vito's opponent, but Vito challenges them to make it a handicap match, and it's made as such. Vito & Norman fight backstage, where Norman busts Vito open, then after a couple trash can shots from Ralphus, Norman Wiggles Vito. Vito makes a comeback, and Norman makes with the screaming. Vito sends Norman away in an elevator, then takes Ralphus back to the ring, putting Ralphus on a broken table before splashing him through it to retain. It didn't overstay it's welcome, at least.-Goldberg, with Scott Hall's contract in his pocket, arrives.-Mean Gene interviews Kevin Nash, who calls Goldberg a "bald-headed prick" before promising to "jackhammer" Goldberg and take a survey.-A video recaps the Daffney/Stacy fight over David Flair.-Match 3: Miss Hancock (w/David Flair) VS Daffney [Wedding Gown Match]-David & Stacy make out while Daffney makes her entrance. Total mess disguised as comedy. Both David & the ref end up with their pants down. Crowbar runs and to go after David, and a wedding cake gets involved. Stacy then voluntarily strips to lose the match. Whatever.-The Cat tries to think of someone to face Jarrett in case Hogan doesn't show ("Ox Baker? I think we're still paying him"), and is stalked by the Yung Dragons.-The crew wonder why Hogan isn't here yet, then talk about Nash/Goldberg.-Match 4 for the World Tag Team Championship: The Perfect Event (Shawn Stasiak & Chuck Palumbo) [c] VS KroniK-After some stalling, Clarke knocks Palumbo outside, then throws Stasiak out over the top onto him. KroniK dominate the opening couple minutes, until Palumbo low-bridges Adams (with Adams blowing the spot), and champs double-team Adams on the outside, leading to a chairshot from Palumbo. Adams plays FIP until he and Stasiak do a double-KO, leading to tags on both ends. Palumbo fights off the Meltdown, and hits a really shitty DDT, which is made worse by Tony yelling about how great it was.Clarke plays FIP now until Adams gets in, and hits Stasiak with an F-5. KroniK hit the High Times on Stasiak, then Clarke just stands there as Palumbo makes the save. KroniK hit Palumbo with the High Times, then avoid a Lex Flexer shot from Stasiak before finishing him with a powerbomb/flying clothesline combo. This was a throwback to mid-90's WCW tag formula, as they had the psychology, but offered mostly punch-kick offense.-The Cat is still trying to figure out what to do about Hogan as Jarrett promises to screw with the show if Hogan doesn't show. The Yung Dragons attack Cat, and lay him out.-Match 5: Kanyon VS Booker T-Kanyon has DDP's entrance music. Booker completely dominates the early going, and finds a brink in Kanyon's "Positively Kanyon" book, and the ref gets rid of it. Kanyon makes a comeback, leaning the steps against Booker's shoulder before smashing them with a chair. Kanyon then hits a ropes-assisted suplex from the apron to the inside. Kanyon wedges a chair in between the turnbuckles, but Booker makes a comeback before he can use it, and Booker hits a powerslam for two.Kanyon blocks Booker's corner roll-up, and hits a sit-out Alabama Slam for two, before locking in an inverted Boston Crab (or Billy Goat's Curse for you Colt Cabana fans). Booker whips Kanyon into the chair, and hits a spinebuster for two. Booker tries to use the chair, but the ref disarms him (why?), allowing Kanyon to clock Booker with Kanyon's book for two. Kanyon checks the book to see if the brick is in there, allowing Booker to make another comeback and hit the Book End...for two. Booker goes up, but Jarrett runs out and clocks Booker with a guitar, allowing Kanyon to hit a second rope Kanyon Kutter for the pin. Best match of the show so far by a long shot.-Pamela Paulshock interrupts Mike Awesome hitting on Jarrett's fat lady to ask him about Scott Steiner. Awesome says he'll win the U.S. title tonight from BPP.-Match 6 for the United States Championship: Scott Steiner [c] (w/Madajah) VS Mike Awesome-BPP goes after Awesome before Awesome even gets in the ring. Awesome ends up backdropping BPP into the front row, then follows with a running dive, and they fight in the crowd. Back in the ring, BPP hits an elbowdrop for two. BPP catches Awesome going up, and hits a second rope belly-to-belly for two. Awesome blocks a suplex, and drops BPP across the top rope, and they go outside again. Awesome works BPP over out there, using a couple different chairs and the ring bell. Back in, Awesome hits a flying clothesline for two as The Cat slowly makes his way out to ringside.BPP hits an overhead throw, but gets warned by The Cat to not use the currently-banned Steiner Recliner, so BPP hits Cat. Awesome blocks a double-underhook, goes low, and hits an Alabama Slam for two, followed by a frog splash for two. The ref gets bumped, and The Cat accidentally kicks Awesome before taking a suplex from BPP, who then gets two on Awesome. BPP puts the Recliner on Awesome, despite The Cat warning he'll be stripped of the title, and Cat does as promised, ending the match. BPP drops Awesome on his head after the match, because he can. This was a decent enough brawl, but the announce team brought it down quite a bit by going over-the-top to try and make it sound like an instant classic.-Match 7: The Demon (w/Asya) VS Vampiro [Graveyard Match]-Demon has to find Vampiro, and gets frustrated when he's not in an empty coffin ("AAARGH, HE'S NOT IN THERE!"). This is poorly lit, so it's hard to make out what's happening at times. Vampiro starts the match by jumping out of a tree. They walk around the graveyard, with Vampiro talking shit, and them occaisionally throwing a move in. Vampiro gets the upper-hand in an open grave and goes after Asya. Demon gives chase and finds Asya, before getting pulled into a pond by Vampiro. After a few moments in the water, Vampiro takes off with Asya again, leading to another chase. Demon finds Asya by the empty coffin from earlier, and Vampiro pops out and mists him in the eyes. Demon turns down Vampiro's offer to join him, so Vampiro breaks a tombstone over his head and puts him in the coffin, as Charles Robinson calls the match, despite the crew mentioning throughout that the winner is decided by who gets to the arena first. Vampiro dumps Demon into the empty grave before leaving. This was...something. It would have been better with people that could act. At least the visual of Vampiro popping out of the water behind the unsuspecting Demon was cool.-Shane Douglas guarantees a win over Buff tonight.-Match 8: Buff Bagwell VS Shane Douglas-Buff starts the match by getting the crowd to chant "Franchise Sucks". They go outside immediately, where Buff has control until Shane goes low. Douglas goes for a piledriver on exposed concrete, but Buff backdrops out of it. They go to the other side of the ring by the announce table, and Douglas groins Buff on the post before grabbing a chair. Buff gets the chair, but Douglas punches the chair into Buff's face.Shane gets Buff in the ring and focuses on the neck. Torrie Wilson comes out and slaps Shane, leading to a schoolboy by Buff for two. Buff hits a Vader Bomb for two as Torrie cheers him on. Buff and Torrie make out before Torrie kicks Buff in the nuts, leading to the Pittsburgh Plunge for two. Buff makes a comeback and goes for the Blockbuster, but Torrie grabs his leg, allowing Douglas to hit an inverted atomic drop, and debut the Franchise (bareback) for the pin, although it's done very awkwardly. Not much to this one.-Hollywood Hogan shows up.-Jeff Jarrett tells Mean Gene that "Plan A" goes into effect, and that allies against Hogan won't be hard to find.-A video previews Jarrett/Hogan.-Match 9 for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship: Jeff Jarrett [c] VS Hollywood Hogan-There's still almost an hour left in this show, but you should know why this is on now, and what happens here. Jarrett lays down for Hogan after some stalling. Hogan has words for Russo before everyone leaves.-Vampiro arrives, walking past Hogan.-The crew react to what just happened.-Vampiro comes to the ring to gloat. Druids, in Sting masks, come out with a coffin, and Sting pops out, hitting Vampiro with a bat and stuffing him in the coffin before vanishing.-Mean Gene interviews Goldberg, who wants to make Nash suffer before tearing up Scott Hall's contract.-Russo comes out to deliver a "shoot" promo against Hogan, which he then completely undermines by booking Jarrett VS Booker for later tonight.-The crew try to put that over as a shoot (with Hudson showing the format sheet).-A video previews Nash/Goldberg.-Nash walks around backstage, and tries to recruit Scott Steiner into watching his back, but BPP blows him off.-Match 10 for Scott Hall's Contract: Kevin Nash VS Goldberg-The two stand around as the crew talk about the history of the nWo. They slug it out, which doesn't go well for Nash. Nash hits a chokeslam for two, as BPP & Madajah come out. Goldberg regains control as BPP tries to fire up Nash. Nash avoids a spear and goes for the jackknife, but BPP turns on Nash, allowing Goldberg to hit the spear and jackhammer for the pin. BPP puts Nash in the Recliner as Goldberg rips up Hall's contract. Not much of a match. The BPP turn would have been better with some space between it and him getting screwed out of the U.S. title.-Mean Gene interviews Booker T, who has no idea what's going on, but says he'll take advantage of tonight's opportunity.-Match 11 for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship: Jeff Jarrett [c] VS Booker T-They start out scientifically, until Booker hits a dropkick, and Jarrett takes a powder. Booker keeps control until they go into the crowd for a couple minutes. Back at ringside, Jarrett hits a piledriver on the announce table. Back in the ring, they slug it out until Jarrett slaps on a sleeper. Booker fights out of it twice then gets one of his own, until Jarrett counters with a shin breaker. Jarrett goes for a figure 4, but Booker counters with a small package for two. Jarrett gets the figure 4 on the second try, but Booker hangs on and eventually reverses the hold.Booker shrugs off the legwork to hit an axe kick, spinaroonie, and a spinebuster for two. Booker whiffs on a Harlem Side Kick, and crotches himself on the ropes. The ref gets bumped and Jarrett goes for a belt shot, but Booker ducks, and hits one of his own for two. Jarrett goes low and grabs a chair before wedging it in the corner. That backfires, and Booker gets two off that. Jarrett punches Booker then hits the ref with The Stroke. Jarrett goes for a guitar shot off the top, but gets caught with the Book End for the pin, with Slick Johnson making the count. This started out pretty bad, but got decent once the near-falls kicked in.-FINAL THOUGHTS: I really didn't like this show, and was happy when it was over. Most of the matches were nothing, and the show was brought down even further with two really terrible idea in the Graveyard Match and the "shoot" angle. The announce team was terrible, going over-the-top to make everything sound awesome, which only served to underscore how not-awesome everything was.-NEXT EVENT: New Blood Rising

God, that Russo/Hogan thing.

Plan to do a "worked shoot", Hogan gets pissed for real, really walks out on the company, and fucking sues them.  What the fuck?  It's well over a decade ago, and I still don't understand that chain of events.

Nope. Someone replaced Hall's contract with Hogan's as a rib and that's the one Goldberg actually ate. Hogan then used that to leave the company, Russo shot on him, Goldberg shoot shat the contract out and that's why Hogan got angry and sued.

Forgot about that.

I want to meet the attorney that thinks "Big guy ate the physical contract" is legal justification for voiding the terms of a binding agreement.

Some contracts are pretty hefty. i deal with contracts in the region of being 100 pages long. I don't even think Goldberg could manage that!

Just watching the Nitro where Flair beat Bischoff for the Presidency of WCW.

The pre match introductions note that it was only for 90 days. How did they get around that one?

Invoked the ubiquitous Wrestling 90 Day Clause (if it happened more than 90 days ago, the booker will assume that it didn't happen, and, even if it did, no one remembers it anyway).  They just waited for the clock to strike midnight on day 90, and proceeded as if everyone forgot.

New Blood Rising 8/13/00-From Vancouver-Hosts are Tony, Hudson, & Madden-Match 1: 3 Count (w/Tank Abbott) VS Yung Dragons [Double Ladder Match]-The prizes in this match are 3 Count's gold record and their recording contract. Tank leads a rendition of "Sing Along with 3 Count" which is interrupted by the Dragons. Tank with his nipples showing through his shirt is horrifying. They act like they're going to work this as a regular six man tag for some reason for a few moments, before everyone takes off down the aisle to grab ladders. Assorted high spots follow. Cute spot as 3 Count pile all three Dragons on a ladder, then Shannon adds a splash. Both teams hit springboard Doomsday Devices, then Noble dives off a ladder to the outside to take out Evan & Shannon. Moore drops Yang onto the back of his head off the ladder, then Helms hits Noble with a swinging neckbreaker to take Noble off a ladder. Not to be outdone, Evan hits Hayashi with a suplex off the ladder.Shannon & Shane team up for a teeter-totter/Russian leg sweep combo on Noble, then dance. Yang & Hayashi hit splashes off ladders onto Shannon, then Noble grabs the gold record, losing it to Tank on the way down when Shannon dropkicks the ladder. Shane & Hayashi race up ladders for the contract, and Tank pushes both ladders over, which makes so little sense even Madden questions it. Evan grabs the contract to end things, but Tank grabs it and takes off to celebrate. This was a loose collection of spots barely strung together. It was entertaining enough.-The Filthy Animals congregate in Cat's office, asking to be made guest refs in the tag title match and for a title shot tomorrow on Nitro. Cat asks what's in it for him, and the Animals guarantee him a win over Muta. Cat agrees to everything, and Disco does his always-funny "lame white guy trying to be cool" act.-Match 2: The Great Muta VS The Cat-The crowd is behind Cat here for some reason. Muta works a short-arm scissors as Tony shrugs off Madden's attempt to use the "the marquee says wrestling" cliche', but at least doesn't go all "IT'S SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT" like he & Madden did last month to Hudson. As Muta controls things, Tygress walks out to provide a distraction, which works. Cat hits a split into a chop to a nice pop, but Muta blocks a kick and hits a dragon screw.Muta misses a moonsault, but mists Cat right after. As the ref tries to get the mist out of Cat's eyes, Tygress hits a flying chairshot off the top onto Muta. That somehow only gets two. Cat fires up with kicks, and finishes with the Feliner. This was a match.-Buff walks around backstage looking for mommy.-Match 3: Kanyon VS Buff Bagwell [Judy Bagwell on a Pole/Forklift]-Judy is actually on a forklift, which Kanyon parks at ringside. Buff rushes out and immediately takes Kanyon into the crowd for a bit. They get in the ring, where Buff hits a neckbreaker before strutting. Buff goes for corner punches, but Kanyon goes low, and hits a Russian leg sweep off the second rope for two. Kanyon pulls a pair of wire cutters that were conveniently taped to the post, and exposes the turnbuckle. Bagwell tries to go over the top of Kanyon, but gets caught with a sit-out Alabama Slam for two.Buff makes a comeback, but Kanyon cuts that off with a Cobra Clutch. Buff hangs on and gets out, but promptly takes a swinging neckbreaker for two. Kanyon goes for the Cutter, but Buff shoves him into the exposed turnbuckle, then hits a hot shot onto the exposed buckle for two. David Arquette gets involved as Buff goes for the Blockbuster, hitting Buff with a construction helmet, and Kanyon gets two. Buff drags Arquette into the ring, and ends up hitting a double blockbuster on Kanyon & Arquette for the pin on Kanyon. This was decent enough, despite the goofy stips and Arquette involvement.-Kanyon hugs Arquette, then gives him a Cutter to a big pop.-Lance Storm arrives with a Canadian Secret Service (whatever that is called) detail.-The crew note that Goldberg has not arrived, and that he was involved in a motorcycle accident at the rally in Sturgis.-Match 4 for the World Tag Team Championship: KroniK [c] VS Gen. Rection & Cpl. Cajun VS Mark Jindrak & Sean O'Haire VS Chuck Palumbo & Shawn Stasiak [Guest Referees: The Filthy Animals]-Konnan buries all four teams on commentary as they come out. Madden annoys me by continually calling Konnan "Carlos". A dad puts his kid, who can't be older than eight, on his shoulders so the kid can shoot the double bird at the hard camera. Palumbo and Adams start. Adams sends Palumbo outside, where he gets jumped by Rey. As the match plays out, the story becomes the Filthy Animals doing everything they can to wear down all four teams. Konnan, after burying everyone, turns around and says the WCW roster is the most talented he's seen and that guys like the ones in the match are going to turn WCW around.Disco looks to be cheering for Jindrak & O'Haire as O'Haire hits Adams with a Swanton, but everyone gets wiped out and KroniK has Palumbo set for the High Times, but Muta & Vampiro rush out to provide a distraction. KroniK take control of the match and hit High Times on Palumbo as Chavo runs out, decks Disco, steals his referee shirt, and counts the pin. OK then. This was a total mess.-Pamela Paulshock interviews Jeff Jarrett, who says Booker T better have eyes in the back of his head the moment he arrives.-Match 5: Shane Douglas (w/Torrie Wilson) VS Kidman [strap Match]-This is thankfully pin or submission and not touch the corners. Kidman controls the early going, but gets distracted by Torrie, which allows Douglas to gain control. Kidman makes a comeback with a rana. Kidman slams Douglas off the top, then straps him right on the nuts. Torrie accidentally hits Douglas with the HIGH-HEELED SHOE OF DEATH, but it's not 1996, so it only gets two.Douglas goes for the Pittsburgh Plunge, but Kidman counters into a small package for two. Torrie rolls them back over, and Douglas hits the Plunge for two. Kidman comes back with the Kid Krusher (Killswitch) for the pin. Kidman whips Torrie on the ass, but gets jumped by Douglas, and hanged until Vito (now apparently a babyface) makes the save to a good reaction.Reno attacks Vito, who easily fights him off. The work was alright, but the heat wasn't there for the most part.-Booker T arrives, and is promptly jumped by Jarrett, who slams a car door on Booker's bad leg.-Match 6: Major Gunns VS Miss Hancock [ROTC Match]-In this case, "ROTC" stands for "Rip Off the Camoflage". There's also a mud pit by the entrance. Stacy offers a handshake, and gets a slap in the face in response. They have a shockingly watchable match, each going for pins with Robinson counting, despite the stips. Stacy starts selling a stomach problem, which, IIRC sets up some...unpleasant things down the road. They go into the mud pit, where Stacy goes back to selling the stomach, and gets pinned. For a T & A match, they actually put a lot of effort into it. Could have lived without the "stomach problem" angle though.-David Flair rushes out to help Stacy as Gunns freaks out. Stacy does a stretcher job.-Pamela interviews Vampiro, and The Demon, who has joined The Dark Carnival alongside Vampiro, Muta, & The I.C.P. Vampiro tells Demon he better get the job done against Sting.-Stacy gets loaded into an ambulance, as her real name is referenced for the first time.-Match 7: The Demon VS Sting-Sting gets a star entrance, repelling from the ceiling. Demon tries jumping Sting in the aisle, but it doesn't help, since Sting takes him to the ring and promptly hits the SDD for the pin.-Vampiro & Muta attack Sting and try to hang him from the chord he repelled from, but KroniK make the save. The Demon simply watches as KroniK take care of Vampiro & Muta. KroniK challenge Vampiro & Muta to a tag title match for later, and Vampiro accepts.-Match 8 for the United States/Canadian Championship: Lance Storm [c] VS Mike Awesome-Storm also holds the Hardcore & Cruiserweight titles. Storm envokes "Rule 32B" that allows him to pick a referee to enforce the "Canadian rules". The crowd perks up, thinking it's Bret, and are audibly let down when it's Jacques Rougeau. They play the Canadian national anthem as Tony helpfully notes that the Canadian's patriotism "is not a work, it's a shoot".They work at a brisk pace. Awesome gets a table as the crowd cares so much about their hero that they chant "ECW". Storm cuts him off, and hits a springboard dropkick for two. Awesome botches a flying clothesline, drawing some jeers, then hits a regular clothesline. Awesome tries a powerbomb through the table, but Storm slides out. Awesome counters a rana with a powerbomb, and gets the pin, although there is some confusion as to whether it was a three count. Jacques confers with the rule book, and apparently it says you need a five count to win.Awesome counters a sunset flip with an Alabama Slam for three-and-a-half, then slaps on a Dragon Sleeper for the submission, but Canadian rules say no submissions. Awesome keeps going, and pins Storm with a splash off the top for a five count, so Jacques says wrestlers have a 10 count to get to their feet after a pin. They go outside, and Storm hits a chairshot, which gets a four count. The table gets put in the ring, and they both crash through it. Jacques decrees that if one of them cannot answer the ten count, then that man loses. Jacques gets in the ring during the count, then drops Awesome with a punch, and that allows Storm to win. This was more of an angle than a match, and didn't do anything to help Lance after his scorching hot start in WCW.-Bret does come out, and celebrates with Storm & Rougeau.-Match 9 for the World Tag Team Championship: KroniK [c] VS Vampiro & The Great Muta-They go back-and-forth for a bit. Adams counters a handspring elbow with a full nelson slam for two. KroniK take control until Adams learns YOU CAN'T POWERBOMB...VAMPIRO? Muta goes after Adams' leg, and Vampiro follows up. The match breaks down, and the ref gets misted. The Harris Brothers come in through the crowd and attack KroniK, allowing Muta to hit a moonsault to win the titles. Not much to this.-Pamela interviews Booker T, who promises to take Jarrett out.-Match 10: Kevin Nash VS Scott Steiner VS Goldberg [#1 Contender's Match]-Goldberg no-shows his entrance, but does come out, all taped up, a few moments in. Goldberg goes after Nash, but gets cut off by BPP. BPP works Goldberg over, until Goldberg sends BPP outside, and Nash gets back involved. Nash & Goldberg slug it out until BPP comes back. BPP gets Goldberg down for two, then lets the ref know that he sucks. Nash cleans house and gets Goldberg set for the jackknife. Goldberg powers out as Nash looks confused, and Goldberg walks out, ignoring Russo telling him to get his ass back in the ring. The crew try to figure out what's up...and settle on Goldberg not wanting to go up for the jackknife and put Nash over. In those terms. They go over the top in calling Nash a total pro, and talk about match planning and such. They brawl for a bit until Madajah comes out, having taken a jackknife the week before ("and she went up for it" says Hudson), and nut shots Nash. Nash busts out a DDT, which Madden attributes to them having to improvise. Nash hits the jackknife on BPP ("take note Goldberg"-Hudson again) for the pin. The work was OK for a triple threat, but holy fuck was this a stupid idea for an angle. If Goldberg simply walked out, the crew wouldn't break kayfabe to explain why.-The crew bury Goldberg for walking out. FUN FACT: Goldberg is a babyface again by Fall Brawl.-Match 11 for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship: Booker T [c] VS Jeff Jarrett-Jarrett immediately goes after the bad knee, and Booker comes back, trying to end it early. Jarrett takes control of the match, focusing on the bad knee as the crew all but counts Booker out. Booker makes his comeback with a spinaroonie and missile dropkick, but Jarrett uses a guitar to block a Harlem side kick, and applies a figure 4. Booker makes it to the ropes, and Jarrett hangs on for every second he can without getting DQ'd.Jarrett tries a belt shot, but Booker ducks, and Jarrett KO's the ref. A table gets set up at ringside, and Booker hits a standing urinage off the apron, through the table. It takes Booker forever to get Jarrett in the ring, so that only gets two. Jarrett gets a chair, back-kicks Booker in the nuts, and KO's the ref with the chair before hitting Booker with The Stroke onto the seated chair. That gets two with Charles Robinson counting. Booker hits a botched swinging neckbreaker on the chair for two. Jarrett fights out of one Book End attempt, but can't fight out of a second, and that gets the pin. This was a pretty good main event, with Jarrett's attack on the bad knee carrying things. The match picked up towards the end with the near-falls, and ended up being pretty satisfying.-FINAL THOUGHTS: I had seen this show before and remembered it being awful. It's still not particularly good on this viewing, with most of the action being pretty mediocre, and the angle with Goldberg being spectacularly stupid. The main event is good and the T & A match is a pleasant surprise aside from the angle at the end.-NEXT EVENT: Fall Brawl 2000

-The crew bury Goldberg for walking out. FUN FACT: Goldberg is a babyface again by Fall Brawl.

Correction: Goldberg is a face THE NEXT NIGHT on Nitro.  At least he was supposed to be, as prior to the taping (Which I never tire of telling everyone here I attended!) Russo was on the mic telling the crowd "Your hero Goldberg is on the way!" "We're gonna destroy your favourites like Goldberg!" and stuff like that and my friend looked at me and went "I thought he was supposed to be a heel?!"

Well, part of the stupid angle has Russo being pissed at Goldberg for being unprofessional, but yeah, him saying that definitely seems like they hilariously turned him the next night.

Also, IIRC, the "pro" Nash is a heel by Fall Brawl, which I should have thrown in there.
