Stacked show all things considered. Best Friends/Private Party and MJF/Jungle Boy are the only matches I'm not hyped for and even those I'm into to see what the youngsters can do. The Stadium Stampede match will be bananas in some way or another. How to heighten from running people over? Shooting them out of a cannon? (Sammy would do it.)

Meltzer said the ladder match will have nine entrants and will start with two in the ring and a new person entering every 90 seconds or whatever. Technically the match could end before everyone comes out but that obviously won’t happen.

50 bucks for a no audience show, idk guys.

UFC just did 700k buys for an empty arena show without any sort of weekly TV and it cost $65 to order.

I made the point in the Dynamite thread, but if the build is good enough and fans are hungry enough then I don't see why they couldn't come close to 100k buys again. Hell, I'll order it. I cancelled the WWE Network and temporarily cancelled my NJPW World subscription since nothing it happening. AEW runs 4 PPVs a year and I'm already saving $20 a month from not having the Network or NJPW World. Even if I had the Network I would still order DoN.

I'm not too psyched to spend $50 on a no crowd show, but AEW has shown that they're more than capable of making these types of shows work when compared to what WWE/NXT is doing. Plus the build the last few weeks has pulled me in, whereas before I wasn't sure I was interested at all.

The ladder match rules sound stupid, but so did the Casino Battle Royale stuff at first too (and I'm sure some people still hate that). I would be willing to bet they'll announce that the match doesn't officially begin until all 9 wrestlers have entered the match, so the "loophole" that @matt925 mentioned wouldn't cross anyone's mind.

To be fair, 249 was one of the most loaded UFC cards in awhile and people knew Tony Ferguson was fighting either Khabib or another top guy for the last several months.  Now UFC 250 with just Amanda Nunes vs. Felicia Spencer and like 3 or 4 other random fights announced with like three weeks left before the card..that's gonna be tough.

The Stampede and ladder match should be great. MJF vs. Jungle Boy could've been a surprise hot match if a crowd were present to get behind Jungle Boy but... Not so sure on the rest of the card though I think Cody/Archer should be good. They really do a heckuva job booking matches where both guys should be winning. Cody's lost a lot of high profile matches and ruled himself out of the main title. This title should be his like the IWGP Intercontinental belt was Nakamura's. Establish it as something serious with one of your top guys having a long reign early (fucking MVP being the inaugural champion, lol). Archer has been built up really effectively from what I saw and it sounds like he's continued to steamroll people since I've stopped watching. Losing his first high profile match would suck, while having him go over would set him up early as a top guy there or thereabouts. Losing to Cody via being outsmarted like Bret/Diesel wouldn't be a bad idea at all though. Gimme a possum small package ftw if Cody's going over.

While a lot of people were disappointed that AEW isn't NJPW USA, the booking of big time matches where both guys should win and there being seriously interesting fallout for whomever loses is definitely something I think Tony has picked up from watching Gedo. Hangman Adam losing to Jericho has led to one of the most interesting characters pro wrestling has seen in a long time. Cody losing to Jericho led to the incredible feud with MJF (granted, the match was a huge letdown fine as it was). I love this shit. We're so used to WWE booking where you get 50/50 shit and nothing matters that I totally forgot and still sometimes struggle to see that there is a lot of opportunity for growth in losing. It's probably not great to lose too much but losing a big match here and there can open paths to the most interesting of stories.

So five announcements for the Ladder match so far: Allin, OC, Colt, Fenix and Scorpio Sky. Four left to announce. I'll assume one is Marko Stunt, one is Joey Janela, one is either Kip or Havoc, and the last is Jack Evans or something.

This may be a dumb question, but if you've got testing facilities is it not possible to run tests on an audience of...200?

Results would have to be sent to a lab for processing. Most places are 24 hour turnarounds at best, plus the cost of the test is most certainly more than the cost of a ticket to the show.

FOR THE #1 CONTENDERSHIP TO THE AEW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP - Best Friends vs. Private Party

I haven't seen this week's Dynamite yet - how did they set this up? Seems weird for Private Party to be in the match when they're currently not even ranked.

Edit: Wait, I was looking at https://www.allelitewrestling.com/tag-team-rankings. Apparently the up-to-date rankings are at https://www.allelitewrestling.com/post/aew-rankings-as-of-wednesday-may-13th-2020. So at least Private Party is ranked, although they're only #5.

I hope Evil Uno and Stu Grayson return at the ppv to interrupt the #1 contender's match. They're being screwed due to circumstances beyond their control. Then, throw them in the match.

It'd make sense if Pentagon Jr. were also in the match.

Plus if there were a positive test, then you'd have to do the contact tracing which can be an issue.

Depending on when Florida allows more fans at events, we might get there sooner rather than later.

I'm shocked I'm actually interested in this show. Not sure I'm $50 interested, but that can change by tomorrow night.
