First DLC is tomorrow. Nakano/Grace/Penta/New Jack/Mystery Asshole #2 is July 16.

While the New Wave DLC comes out tomorrow (MCMG, Giulia, & Stephanie Vaquer), 2k just announced the celebrity guest will be revealed "in the coming weeks in an exciting announcement from WWE". Then they put out a locker code "CHACHING12500" for 12,500 VC as a thanks for waiting.

I can't wait for Haliburton to be added to the game so I can get some measure of revenge as a Milwaukee Bucks fan.

Also played around with the new DLC characters today during lunch and I feel like Vaquer is too slow? But the models look good. I also saw the patch notes and a lot of stuff got nerfed again.

I simmed Strong Style and Shoot Style guys in the Royal Road mat of VPW2 again. I like to sim southern and j-indy and brawlers and sometimes MMA guys too. Only rarely i use lucha and lucharesu guys in the ring.  

I may create what if style variants of old pro wrestlers someday. 

I don't do replacement finishers for wrestlers whose moves aren't in the game. So I don't make them at all or I give them their older or other finisher as their main finisher if i have to.

They were there when I logged in after work (PS5); I used them to finish this week's tower.

Weird, I played some MyFaction and didn't get them. Maybe I need to boot it up again.

Check your unopened packs tab. It looks like a silver sideplate pack but says BONUS.

Probably spent the most time since the NBA Playoffs started with the game and MyFaction.

Knocked out all of the new LEs for the DLC pack. Sapphire Stephanie vs. Amethyst Charlotte with a 90 MFP requirement four times was a bit of a challenge. I pinned her twice before I figured that was good enough and beat her by countout the last two times. Giulia/Rhea was pretty easy and MCMG's triple threat TLC was no worse than any other triple threat TLC match.

When they were in the Upcoming the LEs were listed as giving Superstar Super Packs but I think they realized how much MFP people have been getting from those and switched them to WM packs. I was still able to upcycle the MFP from the WrestleMania packs into Superstar Super Packs to earn enough to get Johnny and do his Encore Boss Battle to get Asuka. Still going miss out on Ultimate Challenge II and III unless they encore them since the WM Series 2 encores are currently scheduled after the UC II and UC III end.

I probably should spend some time in Faction Wars and work on the card market in there since I've finished off the new cities in the World Tour and I've pretty tapped out all the non-grinding ways to earn MFP at the moment.

RIP to the Superstar Super Packs. I need the Bret Hart to finish off that set. Still never got my Damien Priest and the alert I got some 2K says to open a service ticket. 

Didn't touch the live events for the DLC yet since the 90MFP requirement annoys me right now, but I'm getting into World Tour mode. The Amethyst Jade card is pretty useful when you're not restricted from using her. Also the LA matches that have the unlimited packback stipulation are comically easy if you just use cards with the Rage payback so you can load up finishers.

I used the Roman card from the Showcase mode and just speared everything. One of the matches had my Roman and the game's Roman spear our respective partners and get up at the same time so I speared him twice to get the win.

I also got the Elite Bray card from opening enough packs randomly and I'm missing one item each for the King Booker card and the Elite Trish.

So they finally added new stuff to the Faction Wars store; 2 women's teams and either 1 or 2 men's teams with red cards in them and 4 new blues as cards-of-the-month. That Shawn Spears is bugged, either he's gonna get nerfed or his OVR is an error, because a blue card with OVR89 shouldn't exist. 

Shame they're doing this now instead of 5/1, as i now have a full set of reds.

Edited to add: the Shawn Spears card has been fixed. I didn't take down all his old individual stats and do an average, but whether he was nerfed or just had a misprint on his card before, he's now got an OVR of 79.

I forgot how good Virtual Pro 2 is, I just had a fuckin' war of a tag team match between Angle & Lesnar (me) versus Kobashi & Akiyama. All those years ago and even then, the AI partner still interferes for every pin or submission and your AI partner is dogshit at it. I still love this game, little bit weird playing with SteamDeck controls/Xbox controller for my PC, but it's manageable once you remember the layout. Thank god for English translation patches!

It's funny seeing a Summer series tour card with like, Shawn Michaels versus Yuji Nagata as the main event and the opener is Jushin Liger vs La Parka or something.

The cost on the new card pack in 2k is double the prior one which was a jump from the initial offerings. But the odds are better.

With that said, the first match in the Atlanta portion of World Tour is hilariously broken. It's a tag match and you can't leave the ring so the AI logic makes the tag partners come into the ring right away which starts a 5 count and of course your team gets the DQ first. The reddit folks found a cheese solution where you take a character that has a rope clothesline that takes you out of the ring which stops your teams 5 count but keeps the opponent's count going to you win via DQ.

Even with the broken parts, I like World Tour more than last year's Proving Grounds and that's probably due to the lack of points requirements.

It looks like there's about to be a string of events starting tomorrow where you use trash cards from Superstars Series 2 to get numbered Oddity cards to unlock a purple Big E; unfortunately they seem to be handing out a Sinister pack on one of the events instead of the 55 card.

The Cody SOTM matches start with one using the Mania Cody, which I'm lucky enough to have, but it's gonna be annoying as hell for people who don't. At least you don't have to beat Ultra Instinct Roman 4 times for the gateway card this time.

Hopefully they remember to add new FW cards earlier than 60 percent thru the month this time. (Not that it matters all that much; I still have yet to see any of the new boss teams but I sure did just finish a run that gave me Bloodline and Next Gen twice each!)

I am, generally, playing less this year despite being happier with the game. Sadly, this has not translated to me beating Infinite Wealth yet.

 

ETA:

now that the new events are live, the "Numbers Game" will run for 60 days. The Oddity cards say that they're part of a set that runs from 55-100, and the first set is 55-62. Each match requires a particular card with that OVR. 55 is bugged on the select screen and shows whatever you just scrolled past, but the card awarded properly. The match was Brute Force (55) vs the blue Ciampa from the Mania cards, and it was pretty easy. I'm not buying any other singles for the event at this time since the Series 2 cards will be dirt common and we've got til August 1 to do all 8. Presumably they're going to do these in blocks for the whole remaining life of the game.

No War Store refresh or new FW boss teams.

Oh man, we played this all the time at the mall across the street from my high school in the early 90s.  The arcade and, of course, the mall are gone now, replaced years ago by big box stores.

Gotta love the RNG: after bad draws while the "you must have a Sinister card to enter" live events were active, the McIntyre birthday match gave me 2 cards in one pack. Unfortunately, it was both Brothers of Destruction, and Giants are no fun to play in Faction.

I'm gonna turn on Fire Pro R and sim in game guys and then my edits. May shuffle some promotions around in a what if style.

I'm not using old CRT TV but HD TV. I use that for all old systems, never liked the old eye sore scanlines and noise and I have no desire to go back to using CRTs. I admit they were used for effects like dithering in games and other things.

Most recent 2k patch on PS5 appears to have broken the ability to edit your factions, as I got one of the jobber cards needed for the Numbers Game mission string, but the game crashes every time I try to swap her into a lineup. It looks like you can update the male roster but not female, as when I tried to make a new crew from scratch it let me add 4 guys but crashed when I tried to pick a woman (and I started with the Demastered Charlotte, not one of the low cards needed for the quest string) Edited to add: okay it looks like adding or swapping women crashes the game but men work, which is bizarre.

I've had this error and my workaround has been going to the faction management screen and scrolling down the list to select the cards. Not 100% but it does usually work.
