What is the wrestling game equivalent? My answer is Goldberg in WCW/nWo Revenge. He's the only guy who got that faux-MMA combo move, and it just KILLS opponents. He is a fucking BEAST in that game and so hard to reverse or block because of all the options he has out of the standing combos. He also has submissions that are good at positioning the opponent so they can't get to the ropes, especially that rear naked choke in his moveset.

Another vote for Vader in FirePro. Brock in HCTP ( you could just grind someone down with submission so fast with him) and one of the Smackdown vs. Raw games had Taker crazy OP on year, he had so many moves that had tons of range and could knock you down and his finishers had tons of damage.

Post Malone in 2k24 has a great moveset, it's not quite "my CAW has all of the cool moves" but it's close.

Brock's a good call, we had to have a 'No Brock' rule playing HCTP back in the day.

All of the four pillars are killers, but Kobashi in King of Colosseum 2 is basically Godzilla.  Mutoh is a real bastard to fight, too.

I'm shocked you didn't mention Mike Tyson in Mike Tyson's Punch-Out.

I was thinking playable video athletes that you had to ban when you played with your friends, but yeah, Tyson would be up there if you add characters that can't be controlled without a Game Genie!

I bought a Big Bubba Rogers figure and got some kind of 2k24 character code in it.  If anybody wants it DM me.

If that's for the "Ichiban" (NJPW-era) Hogan you also need a photo of the receipt. If it's for something else I'm not sure what it is, though.

The new wave of cards has a Diamond Trick Williams that unlocks the 2022 version previously available only if you got the Oddity cards for him (which is obscenely unlikely). There's a Seamus '09 in there as well, but since you get a card for that in the tutorial I'm not sure why they put a Persona unlock on it.

Finally won the match to get the Jean-Paul Levesque Persona. Fuuuuck these 5-min time limits against stronger enemies as a way to earn high-value unlocks.

The code in Bubba isn't for Ichiban Hogan and you don't need the receipt.

Target Legends with stickers on the box have codes for Hogan in the Real American music video as an Elite figure inside the box.

Monday night wars figs from Walmart have Nation Rock as an Elite action figure codes in the box.

They have to have a sticker tho.  There's a wave of series 3 figs that came out with no stickers.

In theory.  I pulled a Hogan out of one of the MNW boxes but that's not supposed to happen.

Just to continue the never ending clusterfuck that are WWE games.  PS5 won’t allow you to download the Pat Whatshisnuts DLC.  They even managed to fuck up a release that nobody was even that excited about. Just to make it that much more fucky.  Mmm mmm.  Shit tastes good!  Oh!  Sugar in my gas tank?  Fine!  Go for it.  Might as fucking well.

Yeah no shit Pat's DLC pack is going to be hated among those playing the game.  They could have maybe tossed in some NXT people or something but nope it's gotta be Pat and his idiot friends.

Truth be told I like Pat a lot but can take his show in small doses.  So if they want to put his friends in there then I'll just lower their stats to 30 and use them as punching bags.  But to be fair I kind of like the football being added.  If they have some NFL players in CC some fun could be had for the upcoming season.

FYI the pack has been available at least since I got off work at 4p yesterday. Also, code SECURETHEBAG is good for 7500VC (not sure if it works on other systems or just PS4-5) as a make-good

As of last night nothing had changed.  But I’ll check it out later and report back.  Not that the MyFaction stuff does much for me.  My game is mostly to support my simfed.  So my criteria for what’s good may differ.

Looks like code SUMMERWWE2K24 gets you 2 of the Summerslam card packs and 15k in VC. I got nothing notable from mine. But I used the VC from this and the other code to buy a Signature Moments card pack and got a Diamond Kane so there's that.

So with the free credit we got this week I finally got one of the low-poly Demastered cards. And let me tell you, Raquel's "push the hair out of the way and flex her back" entrance pose is a lot less cool when her hair and back are each one solid piece with a flat bitmap on top.

Finished up all of the live events I can do for now so I picked up a diamond Finn, Eve Torres and Braun which is nice.

Also went to the community creations to round out my roster with people so I have a fairly complete NXT roster and some AEW folks. Might start a Universe mode run this week.

Started a Faction Wars run and I noticed everyone got their "armor" back after every match so that seems like a glitch that's good for once. I also lost a match because my character somehow did a leg drop by the announce table and got warped to the crowd but it wouldn't let me come back so my tag partner got double teamed and lost.

I used to kill dudes with Vader in the FPW GBA games that I played an awful lot of, so good pull there.

I still own my Fire Pro Wrestling (2001) GBA game. I bought a GBA SP Tribal second hand when my OG model broke. One of my happiest gaming memories was getting a Critical with Vader while waiting for the National Musuem of Film and Photography to buy tickets to the first IMAX screening of The Dark Knight (2008) for me and my Dad. Paid extra for those tickets. So worth it. Need to play that again.

((I can break this out to its own thread if needed, but I'm going to run a TEW IX dynasty and post about it here if folks don't mind))

Here's the state of the Wrestling world in 2022 (where the game starts)

America: USPW (United States Pro Wrestling) are the dominant force in American Wrestling, although their aging main event scene means that they may soon be entering a rebuilding phase. The Supreme Wrestling Federation (SWF) and Total Championship Wrestling used to be America's Big Two, but both have endured rough periods and will require strong leadership to take them forward.

The American independent scene continues to be the best in the world, boasting a wide variety of interesting companies and a deep talent pool of rising stars. The arrival of the WRESTLEWORLD streaming service means that companies like Coastal Zone Championship Wrestling (CZCW) and Pittsburgh Steel Wrestling (PSW) are now finding whole new audiences and are entering an exciting new era.

Mexico: The all-conquering EILL continue to have an iron grip on the world of lucha libre, having the assembled the most star-studded and talent=packed roster in the country's rich history. CILL and EMLL may be small but they are well run, and put on entertaining shows. The recent death of OLLIE (Original Lucha Libre in Extreme) offers a cautionary tale however, and suggests that EILL's large shadow is making it very hard for anyone else to thrive in Mexico.

Britain: 21st Century Wrestling dominate the British Wrestling scene and seem primed for expansion. They now have their own wrestling school in full swing, to give them access to a talent pipeline that should secure their future. Elsewhere, Scottish National Promotions and Championship Wrestling from Wigan offer very different alternatives to 21CW's mainstream product and are beginning to build small but dedicated fan bases.

Japan: The traditional giants BHOTWG (Burning Hammer of the Wrestling Gods) and PGHW (Pride Glory Honor Wrestling) remain the top dogs, but aging rosters and lack of innovation are making them look old-school and on a downward trend, The challengers, Black Canvas Grappling, EXODUS 2010, SAISHO PRO, and WLW (returning after a yakuza funding scandal) are offering matchups between fresh star talent and are apidly gaining propularity. Is it a new age in the Land of the Rising Sun?

Europe: Three companies are making in-roads, and seemingly well-run, could Europe avoid the stumbles that doomed past Euro promotions?

Australia: RAW is still on top, but are really a victim of their own success, they've killed off the smaller companies that would provide training for the next generation. APW are small, but have a solid roster, and now are on WRESTLEWORLD.

So, what company am I going to be taking? NONE OF THE ABOVE. My avatar, the mysterious Mr Smith, will be forming an indy in america, and form LIGHTNING CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING (LCW). My goal is to be big, eventually, but with $1,000,000 in the bank, and only moderate prestige, we're going to be raiding other companies for talent, and hope that we can carve our own niche in American Pro Wrestling. Our style is DVDVR Wrestling's favorite, Wrestling Nerd Nirvana

"Designed to appeal to the 18-30 wrestling nerd demo, this is all about things that will play well to a "smart" internet audience: Good match quality, entertaining characters, hot angles, and all done with a sense of humor.

Fans expect 85/15 Match to Angle for events, and TV 75/25

Matches are rated on Quality vs popularity on a floating basis between 40:60 and 70:30, depending on what gets the best rating.

It's hard on the workers due to physical intensity and risk of injury from high-impact moves.

Fans will accept any match type, but matches below 20 minutes will not be able to acheive world class scores. Overbooked (unless really good), Eye candy, Deathmatches and DANGEROUS matches will have a penalty. Angles based on sex-appeal will be limited. The fans expect storylines, a variety of match types, and crazy/stunt bumps can give boosts to a segment, and comedy based gimmicks can't be used by stars or major stars.

Well, getting ready for our first show, we get to try out one of the new features in TEW IX: The Booking Team.

You can have people join your booking team, adding creative energy (you need 20 of it per hour you put on, but you can spend extra to get creative finishes/angles, or to tweak gimmicks/storylines.. depending on how good they are, it's not a sure thing however that the creative stuff will be successful. Also, the booking team is a real pressure cooker for relationships.. conflicts will be magnified, but so will good vibes.

We have four people on our Booking Team, the legendary Fox Mask joining the female trio, being retired wrestler Miss Mexico, QAW's Queen Amazon and stalwart road agent-ref-woman of a thousand jobs, Farrah Hesketh. We create 71 Creative Energy, so we only bank 31 a show after booking our two hours (although that will go up in a few months, as probationary periods expire

We also appoint Locker Room Leaders in various roles, including head men and women's trainers.

We have our roster, and I will break it down in a future post, but since no one's been assigned a perception yet..

The good news is, we have someone airing our matches.. the bad news is: It's WrestleWorld, and they can only give us a three month deal. Talk about having to hit the ground running. With running a show every two weeks, that means we have six shows to impress folks and get a new deal. But no pressure.

And.. one of our wrestlers won't be able to make it, as Shooting Star Perez got stranded at the airport. Ugh. To make things worse, four of our wrestlers couldn't make the show, but that was because they were wrestling for a Mexican company that night (CILL), and they are some of better wrestlers on the roster (Electric Dreamer/Estrella Blanca on the Luchadora side, Tigre Salvaje Jr and Amazing Fire Fly on the Luchador side). I'm going to have to check my schedule for conflicts going forward.\

Our first show is pretty good for a fed our level (tiny), it comes out to a 50 (knocked down a bit because I forgot to book a steal the show match), and we gain our first points of popularity in Canadian Regions, and less than a point, but still positive in the US. Not bad!

Before I get to the roster breakdown, I found this one weird trick to generate nearly three times the amount of Creative Energy per meeting.. Get rid of two folks who have awful booking chemistry with me. Farrah Hesketh and Estrella Blanca have conflicts with a couple folks, so we move them off the booking team. We bring in one of our road agents, Art Reed, to assist us. We now generate 201 Creative Energy per meeting.

Even in the land of the tiny like we are, only a few of our folks are known to our fans, and most of them are retired, but Acid (the 2nd one to wear the mask), The Glorious One Logan Wolfsbaine and Lucha Libre wrestler Huracan Sandoval Jr are at least Recognizable. We have to make our own stars.

Notes from my TEW IX dynasty

Huracan Sandoval Jr signed a deal with us for $60 a show. He's been on one of our two shows so far (the 2nd one was also a 50), and got invited to tour with WLW. He's wrestled four times so far on their current tour, and SOMEONE must have been filling his head with garbage, because he requested a payrise.. to $1500 a show. That's right, a 2500% raise.

Needless to say, I wasn't going to even offer him a 25% of what he wants raise (which would have pissed him off and done nothing to keep him around), so we'll probably wish him well on his future endeavors because he is absolutely FURIOUS with us not giving him what he wants.

We've done four shows, and re-upped with WrestleWorld for another three months (the most they'll give us right now). It's going to be a grind, but we're gaining in popularity with every show. (Our latest show, which featured a four-way match where Logan Wolfsbaine became our first champion (after defeating Flash Savage, Frankie Perez and California Love Machine) was our best rated card, getting a 58, and we've actually gained 40% of our viewers from the first to the fourth show (10K-14K). By the end of 2022, my goal is to hit 35 popularity in New England, which will move us from Tiny to Small (which hopefully will give us more pull with getting WrestleWorld to feature us, or perhaps a TV show..
