Models look like WWE All Stars.

I'm honestly okay with that. I thought Shida looked better than Kenny and Jericho in the trailer. And I was hoping the mobile game would be available tonight but hopefully that's not too far off.

I can't find a single credit of Iwashita's after the VPW/WcW vs. NWO/No Mercy/Def Jam: Fight for NY run. That would have been right around when when AKI switched over to Syn Sophia, but he isn't listed in the credits of the Style Savvy games. I have no idea what he's been doing all this time.

Well I’m stoked. Feels like you could just put a “from the Director of WWF No Mercy” sticker on the cover, stick to the VPW formula, make sure you have an extensible (easily copyright—bypassable) CAW mode and go make a jillion dollars. That’s all people want, I think. You can invest in a deeper GM / booker mode in the next installment to bring them back.

Ladders on cells with 20 tables too. Add that shit in later. Just get core gameplay tight as a foundation with this first one.

Bold decision to go with the pornhub logo too.

This really does look like modernized AKI graphics. Fuck. At first I wasn't really feeling the aesthetic but from a distance it looks so good. Excited. 2021 would be nice but really, I think making sure it's a good game and not rushing it is way more important. It would be very difficult to overcome a shitty debut.

Yukes said in 2019 they were working on a non-WWE wrestling game, so I think it’s fair to say that it was the AEW game all along most likely. That was in August, I believe?

I’m placing money on a 2021 release, personally. Maybe not Q1, but definitely within the year I’d say.

Just to be a random data point, I totally expect wrestling games to have a good GM/booker mode, and couldn't care less how good the CAW feature is, or frankly whether it exists at all. No idea how common consumers like that are, but we do exist.

Honestly, I love the graphics. What I've wanted for a long time was an updated No Mercy look. My friends and I thought at the time that No Mercy, WM 2000, WCW/nWo Revenge models looked like action figures, like an upgraded Wrestlefest. And now this looks even more like action figures, which I think is pretty much perfect. I don't want it to fully look like All Stars, but just have them look like beefy action figures or something. Something that has weight to them.

I'm excited. Who gives a shit if it's Yukes. It's not their fault that THQ and 2K kept them making the same shitty fucking game year after year when they wanted to do something different. Not only that, look at how bad 2K20 was without Yukes.

I think the graphics look pretty good (seen below).  It's not like the WWE games have been masterpieces in that department of late either.  I'm most interested in the gameplay.

I'd take great gameplay over great graphics all the time. Ideally you want both.

The face scan looks good, but the upper body looks odd to me.  It looks like Kenny Omega wearing a Kenny Omega body suit.

Not that interested in wrestling video games any more, but I'm really intrigued by this project.
