Well crap, now they need to find a new ninth man for the Casino Ladder Match.

Dude, someone posted GIF of Flair doing the obligatory Club La Vela/Nitro Spring Break pool spot in the GIF thread. It would be worth the 50 bucks if he did a cameo at DoN and did that same spot in the pool at TIAA Bank Field off a ladder.

Need some help getting my memory jogged. Seeing as I'm still not back to work yet I have been working on edits for Fire Pro Wrestling World. When I do this, I usually like to do a pack of 3-7 in a theme. Like the last batch I put out was 2nd/3rd generation guys not currently signed anywhere (Tim Zbyszko, Leland Race, etc). I like to do real specific categotries like that because it makes me really broaden my search instead of landing on the easy answer and releasing the 578th different Jon Moxley or Kurt Angle or whatever. What I'm currently doing is "obscure masked gimmicks of famous workers". So far I have done Who (Jim Neidhart), Super Invader (Hercules) and Black Blood (Billy Jack Haynes). Can anyone think of any others? They would have to be recent enough to be on Youtube, and I would prefer none that only lasted a match or two (like Al Snow as Shinobi for example). Also none where it was obvious who the guy under the mask was (like Hogan as Mr. America) and it was part of an angle. I'm talking about established workers who, for some reason were put under a mask and tried to be passed off as a new character instead of just using them under their already well known name. Anyone got any suggestions?

Jericho was Super Liger for what? One match?

I think he had a couple?

I just always remember it because people talk about Benoit vs Eddy in Japan under masks but never mention Jericho.

EDIT: Google only shows one match so yeah, scratch that.

I mean I could only say that because I only remember Jericho talking about the one debacle at the Dome show debuting the gimmick, and how Riki Choshu came up to him after the match and killed the gimmick on the spot.

Jericho did a whole podcast about Super Liger a few months ago.

Angel of Death and Jack Victory as Russian Assassins?

Hiroshi Hase as one of the Viet Cong Express in Calgary?

It seems like every member of the Armstrong family had a masked gimmick.

EDIT: Konnan was on Superstars/Wrestling Challenge under the Comet Kid name, but it was definitely the Max Moon gimmick.

EDIT: Maybe Aldo Montoya would work.

Polaco was not an established name before he was Aldo Montoya.

I would not count obscure TV tapings nobody saw.

2 out of 4 matches occurred on Superstars, and in 1992 I wouldn't say "nobody saw" that show.

You can count the shit on one hand. It doesn't count either way.

The Dark Patriot ~ Doug Gilbert

Super Olympia ~ Arn Anderson

Mr Olympia ~ Jerry Stubbs

Doom ~ Butch Reed / Ron Simmons (were they just Doom #1 & #2?)

Mr JL ~ Jerry Lynn

Tiger Mask II ~ Misawa

Tiger Mask III ~ Koji Kanemoto

Lord Humongous ~ Sid

I push back on Mr. JL because Jerry spent most his career as a nondescript jobber. Also, Sid started in like 87 and was Lord Humongous soon after.

If we're talking about women, Akira Hokuto was in CMLL as both Akira Hokuto and Reina Jabuki.

Kanyon as Mortis

Daniels as Curry Man and/or Suicide

Not sure if these would fit your criteria since they were arguably at their height under the masks but you could make an argument for WWF repackagings like Kane, Mankind, maybe Goldust if you're counting makeup as a mask

Repo Man!!

In my limited experience it seems to me that Kana is genuinely bubbly energetic and positive. She's definitely an Osaka lady and then some. You get all types in Osaka, but I bet she'd be a lot less goofy if she'd grown up in Kyoto or Fukuoka or somewhere.

I also met Tajiri once, in the Cowboy Steakhouse near the old Osaka Pro arena. We got into a conversation and then I noticed that everyone was staring at us. Then I realized that out of politeness I had been speaking Japanese and he had been speaking English the whole time. That must have seemed crazy to the other customers.

I really enjoyed meeting both of them. Haven't got a bad word to say about either one.

I find that to be the best way to converse. Both sides will understand every word. I had a similar conversation with him and Masato Tanaka when they came to USA for one of the WWE fake ECW PPVs. Tajiri was so nice that he paid for my ribs at dinner.
