Looking at the career playoff stats for the four players that are generally regarded as being the best current players in the league paints an interesting picture. The stats obviously don’t include this season as the playoffs haven’t happened yet.

Kawhi Leonard: 7 playoff Appearances in 8 seasons, 3 NBA Finals Appearances, 2 NBA Finals Wins, 2 NBA Finals MVP awards, 19.5 ppg playoffs, 7.7 rpg playoffs, 2.4 apg playoffs

Lebron James: 13 playoff Appearances in 16 seasons, 6 NBA Finals Appearances, 3 NBA Finals Wins, 3 NBA Finals MVP awards, 28.9 ppg playoffs, 8.9 rpg playoffs, 7.1 apg playoffs

James Harden: 10 playoff Appearances in 10 seasons, 1 NBA Finals Appearance, 0 NBA titles, 0 NBA Finals MVP awards, 22.9 ppg playoffs, 5.4 rpg playoffs, 5.6 apg playoffs

Giannis Antetokounmpo: 4 Playoff Appearances in 6 seasons, 0 NBA Finals Appearances, 0 NBA Titles, 0 NBA Finals MVP Awards, 23 ppg playoffs, 10.3 rpg playoffs, 4.6 apg playoffs

How anyone can look at those numbers, and try declaring any of the other 3 are better playoff players than Kawhi is beyond me. The only season he missed the playoffs was the one where he was hurt for 95% of it. But hey let’s overvalue the guy from Houston having made the Finals in his third season while being carried by Russ and KD. Or Lebron for making the Finals, and having to be bailed out by Ray Allen in order to beat Kawhi and The Spurs, and for having to oversell a nut shot from Draymond to screw the Warriors out of a championship.

Kawhi in 2013-2014 playoffs (Won Championship, Finals MVP)

32.0 MPG, 14.3 PPG, 6.7 REB, 1.7 AST

Meanwhile, also on the team were Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobli plus role players Marco Bellinelli, Boris Diaw, Danny Green, and Patty Mills.

Duncan in 2013-2014 playoffs (Should've won Finals MVP, Hall of Famer)

32.7 MPG, 16.3 PPG, 9.2 REB, 2.0 AST

Tony Parker in 2013-2014 playoffs (Could've won Finals MVP, Hall of Famer)

31.3 MPG, 17.4 PPG, 2.0 REB, 4.8 AST

Manu Ginobli in 2013-2014 Playoffs (Hall of Famer)

25.5 MPG, 14.3 PPG, 3.3 REB, 4.1 AST

So Kawhi won Finals MVP despite averaging the fourth most points, second most rebounds, and 6th most assists.  On a stacked team with three hall of famers and good role players.  A team that won three titles without him with the same three stars and coach.

Then he won last year with Toronto coming out of the East, where the only real competition was the Bucks, and on a team that featured All Star Kyle Lowry, Future All Star Pascal Siakam, All Star Marc Gasol, and role players Fred Van Vleet, Serge Ibaka, and Danny Green, and played a depleted Golden State with Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson hurt.  And Toronto is still the second best team in the East even without Kawhi.

Time to bring this back.

And he quit on the Spurs, sat out a whole season with a suspect injury that the team didn't even believe was real, shat on the legacy of Tony Parker and Manu Ginobli, tried to force a trade to LA, had to accept a trade to Toronto, and even though he won a championship, still bailed on Toronto for LA, even talking Paul George, who just signed an extension in OKC, to quit on his second team and join him.

Kawhi's good, but he's overrated, and has been the beneficiary of being on great teams.  And Kawhi has fallen off considerably on defense, and has mostly coasted on reputation and narratives about his "great" defensive prowess.

Harden's a better individual player, and hasn't had the benefit of playing next to an All Star until this year.

Okay your Kawhi stats are highly suspect, and laughable for the playoffs you chose to bring up. Unlike the NHL the NBA Finals MVP is based solely on the Finals and not the entirety of the playoffs. So let’s post Kawhi’s stats as well as the others you referenced for that series only:

Tony Parker: 35.2 MPG, 18.0 PPG, 0.4 RPG (seriously not even half a rebound?), 4.6 AST, 0.8 Steals

Tim Duncan: 33 MPG, 15.4 PPG, 10 RPG, 2.0 AST, 0.4 Steals

Manu Ginobili: 28.6 MPG, 14.4 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 4.4 AST, 1.0 Steals

Kawhi Leonard: 33.4 MPG, 17.8 PPG, 6.4 RPG, 2.0 AST, 1.6 Steals

So let’s see. He averaged the second most points, Third most Assists (tie with Duncan), Second most rebounds, and the most steals while guarding Lebron. Yeah go figure why he’d win MVP for that.

Nice list of role players too. Which one of them not named Danny Green has contributed anything to a successful playoff team that didn’t have Duncan, Parker, Ginobili, and Leonard on it? Patty Mills sure as hell hasn’t.

Now let’s see how many great players, and all stars James “I’ve never played with an All-Star until this year according to Lawful” Harden has played with:

09-10 Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant (All Star) , Serge Ibaka, Jeff Green (using your own criteria from earlier about the Spurs), Nick Collison
10-11 Russell Westbrook (All Star), Kevin Durant (All Star), Serge Ibaka, Jeff Green, Nick Collison, Kendrick Perkins

11-12 Russell Westbrook (All Star), Kevin Durant (All Star), Serge Ibaka, Reggie Jackson, Nick Collison, Kendrick Perkins

12-13 Patrick Beverly, Chandler Parsons, Jeremy Lin, Marcus Morris

13-14 Patrick Beverly, Chandler Parsons, Dwight Howard (All Star), Jeremy Lin, Aaron Brooks

14-15 Trevor Ariza, Patrick Beverly, Dwight Howard, Josh Smith, Jason Terry, Clint Capela

15-16 Trevor Ariza, Patrick Beverly, Dwight Howard, Ty Lawson, Corey Brewer, Clint Capela, Jason Terry

16-17 Trevor Ariza, Eric Gordon, Patrick Beverly, Ryan Anderson, Lou Williams, Clint Capela, Nene

17-18 Trevor Ariza, Chris Paul, Eric Gordon, PJ Tucker, Clint Capela, Ryan Anderson

18-19 PJ Tucker, Clint Capela, Eric Gordon, Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, Gerald Green

So yes he’s played with All Stars (KD, Russ, and Dwight Howard) as well as other really good players (Ibaka, Beverly, Lou Williams, CP3). It’s not like he’s out there playing with some of the scrubs my team was trotting out next to Dirk for years.

Or you could stop trying to suck Little Jimmy Harden off. Face it your posts are pathetic, and you never offer any conclusive evidence for why he’s better than anyone else. His playoff record sucks, he’s only made one finals, and he’s only won One MVP award.

But hey keep having your little I’m a fan of crap sports teams, and guys with ugly beards pity party, and leave the discussion to people that actually know what they’re talking about.

Kawhi's defense looked to have significantly declined in November and December, but from January on he was straight killing opposing offensive gameplans more or less singlehandedly.

And no I'm not reopening this until something important happens because y'all can't play nice.

And when I do reopen, we're opening under zero tolerance rules.

Nuggets coach Michael Malone acknowledged that he had COVID-19 in March

He said he only discovered he had it because he did the anti-body test

In the interview - he said he started not feeling well around March 20 and he reached out to the team doctors who were unable to get him tested so he said he wasn't exactly shocked when he tested positive for the anti-bodies

One of the many recaps of how they are trying to pull off this bubble horseshit

Quote

Who is in the team travel party?

This will evolve over time. To start with, each team will have 37 people inside the NBA campus. That will include up to 17 players, as well as support staff (including coaches, trainers, strength coaches, equipment managers, security and front-office personnel). Teams are being encouraged to bring a mental health professional. If not, they must make telehealth appointments available, particularly if "any player experiences increased feelings of anxiety and stress upon transitioning to the campus and being away from household family members."

As teams advance in the playoffs, they will be allowed to add and swap out members of the travel party. Teams can add two staffers after advancing past the first round of the playoffs, and two more after the conference semifinals. That is something multiple coaches had been pushing the league to adopt, sources told ESPN.

The NBA has issued its rules on life in the bubble.    Among the rules:

  • No doubles in table tennis.
  • No caddies on the golf course.
  • No sharing blunts snorkels.
  • No fiddling with mouth guards.

Seriously though, the players must tell the NBA by 6/24 if they intend on playing.

How is playing doubles in table tennis any riskier than playing in a league sanctioned game? You’re not any close to the person on your team than you would be the opponent that’s guarding you in a game.

The no caddies thing I actually like. It shouldn’t hurt any of those guys to have to carry their own clubs.

How many of those end up getting sold on eBay? ?

And what’s up with a certain someone being allowed to break the “No Harden talk” rule? I’m tired of him being allowed to do things I’d get called out for.

Washington's Davis Bertans has decided to sit out whatever ends up happening in Orlando, I believe the first player to definitely say he won't be playing.

He was probably the most obvious choice to do so as he's going to be a free agent and the Wiz had essentially zero chance of making the playoffs even with him.

Yeah, I think that's a very sane decision on his part. I'm sure some people will have that "he's quitting on his team" bullshit mindset, but they have virtually no chance (it's pretty clear they only decided to include the Wiz and Suns in order to have a few extra TV games) and he has so much to lose if he were to get hurt, sick, or even just play badly for those 8 games.
