I like how people still won't acknowledge that there are like 35 rules in baseball that are all just straight up judgement calls and are not exactly codified as a robot would need.

I'm sure they could have an umpire in a press box to make any judgment calls.

There is a lot of misconception with how it works

The way the system works now (ie how it has been tested) is that there is still umpires on the field. The only thing "automated" is balls and strikes

The system tracks the pitch and sends a message to the home plate umpire whether it is a ball or strike and the umpire announces what the call is

All other rulings are still done by a human (and if I remember correctly - the regular umpire can also overrule the machine in certain cases - like the wifi craps out or something)

But someone called it Robot Umps and now everything thinks it is gonna be I, Robot running around the baseball field
