CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING from HOLLYWOOD/MEMPHIS/ATLANTA

DEAN

What a great episode!  FIRST, Pretty Peter Avalon and Kevin Martenson have a GREAT free TV match.  Then Alex Gracia debuts against MYLO- but there is a TWIST!

Spoiler

Marina Shafir runs in and beats on MYLO!  Will she be back after being pushed to AEW TV?  Is Alexa around and is she now a member of the Female Dudes With Attitudes?

Then it's Midnight Heat versus the Wolf Zaddies in a Perfectly Fine tag match!  And THEN it Justin Cruz versus Zicky Dice for the Heritage belt!  The commentators are baffled by the crowd getting behind Zicky Dice- DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY TIMES HE HAS MADE LOVE WITH HIS BELT ON?  TOO MANY FOR HIM TO REMEMBER!  Oh fun.

More really good wrestling.  Shane Haste!  He takes on Fidel Bravo- WHOM I've never seen before, and he's good!  That might make my poll.  Ray Rosa has protection from PPA (the angry version of Pretty Peter Avalon)!  The Institution match was really good.  They gave the two guys they were in with a lot of stuff and made it a good match.  Nice Lariat-based finisher by either Brendan Divine or Hunter Freeman, because I can't tell them apart yet.  That was good.   The UWN Random Match Generator CREATES Willie Mack versus Richard Holliday!  Which is awesome- a dream match you never actually dreamed of.  I love that Willie Mack is as confused as we are that this match exists.  They have a very old school, low impact, high psychology match.  They tell a little story that Willie Mack is baffled by the weirdness of Richard Holliday.  A quality hour of grappling.  OH! THERE'S MORE!  Guy Tweakacetti, who does a meth-fueled speedfreak persona, wrestles Papo Esco for the TV title!  PUT THE BELT ON GUY!  Tweakacetti is a manager who will take bumps but Midnight Heat hits the ring before Papo Ecso can crush him like a bug!  Danny Limelight tries to make the save!  HEY! It's Slice Boogie!  He's back!  I wonder if he will show up in MLW or if there is some sordid and sleazy reason for him not to. THEY ECW IT INTO A SIX MAN!  Danny Limelight is The Wrestling Machine.  Tweakacetti is great as a chickenshit heel- being pesky and then avoiding the faces.  Papo is our face in peril.  Slice Boogie a totally awesome Robert Gibson.  Tweakacetti tags in!  They destroy Midnight Heat and Papo Esco finally gets his hands on Tweakacetti.  III would have had Tweakacetti run away and build to a Indian Strap match where Tweakacetti bleeds and cries.  But this was good!  It builds up to the Bodega versus Midnight Heat which will be good.

Dustin Starr must've heard me complain about Mempho booking as Uncle Mikey and one half of the Skimahorns finally captured tag-team gold last weekend.  The Posse are soooo the local dude tag-team made up of an auto mechanic and a high school gym teacher who met up at Hooters one day and decided they should start training together and thought they'd be in the WWE by now.  Uncle Mikey and his offense that is far too good for this organization is the glue that holds this thing together.  Uncle Mikey's straps off / straps on tribute spot to Jerry Lawler is number one and the best.

Buff Bagwell is like a thousand years old.

Zicky Dice and Ryan Rembrandt have the most un-Mempho match of recent memory.  Dice is the crowd favorite of the match, believe it or not, and it actually works.  The match itself is pretty watchable.  Yes, that is Zicky Dice doing babyface armdrag spots.

I'll bet the Mads Krueger vs. K Toomer match from two weeks ago was newborn baby ugly.

Championship Wrestling From Hollywood has completely morphed into AEW DARK EXTENSION 1.  First you have an LA Dojo match between Kevin Knight and Karl Frederick and then you have Marina Shafir going up against Alex Gracia in a really good wad of wrestling.  AND THEN Pretty Peter Avalon wrestles!  All you need is Anthony Ogogo to come out and squash Brock Anderson. PPA looks great against the Primo dude that Ray Rosas wrestled last week.  This Primo dude is good.  It's weird to see Peter Avalon wrestling as a babyface, but he has BABYFACE FIRE!  It's Jack Banning!  He was the best Security guy to get mauled by Wardlow when they were in California.  Banning is heading up the latest incarnation of the Raven's Nest.  Honest John is your Billy Kidman.  I can't remember the other guys' names but one of them is Van Hammer and one of them is Sickboy!  The Institution attacks Ju Diss!  Actually, Honest John reminds me of a young Jimmy Jacobs.  I await his emo ballad to a lady.  Invictus Khash was at the Dark taping yesterday!  Here, he wrestles Koto Hiro!  For a minute and half.  According to cagematch.net, Invictus Khash is TWENTY TWO YEARS OLD?  No way!  He looks like he's forty.  That can't be right.  He was trained by Buddy Wayne who passed away in 2017, and Khash has been wrestling since at least 2015.  Unless he started at 15.  Weird.  For the main event, CWFH morphs from AEW DARK to NWA USA, as Chris Adonis takes on our United World Champion, the Goldenboy, Jordan Clearwater!  Who both wrestle in the NWA, so they could RUN THIS BACK on a slightly larger platform.  Clearwater is on the periphery of New Japan Strong but he such a great Memphis heel, as he sells Adonis power offense like a sniveling weasel.  So douchy!  So punchable!  Clearwater is a great champion for this pseudo-territory.  Clearwater openly gouges the eyes of Adonis- because he is the champion!  Disqualfiy him!  He doesn't care!- and we get to the heat segment on our face, Chris Adonis.  Clearwater applying the Figure Four is a little on the nose for a territorial champion, but I dig his sense of history.  Adonis goes on offense and he looks good.  Clearwater cuts him off with a DDT and Adonis hits his finisher, THE ADONIS LOCK!  NEW CHAMPION!  NO!  PRINCE NANA?  Prince Nana distracts the ref and Invictus Khash hits Adonis with THE STRAP~!  Clearwater is a member of the Embassy!  We are now in TOTAL Memphis mode and I back their play one hundred percent.

CWFH is sooo the OVW for AEW, NWA, and Impact.  Dustin Starr's feeder program is a license to print money.  If only the Mempho show was as serious, but I guess Hollywood is for the smarks and Mempho is for the Sports Entertainment crowd.  SEE THE STARS OF TOMORRROW TODAY~!

Second  time I met Dustin was a Hollywood Jimmy show at the casino in Lula MS. It was Dustin vs Derrick King,of course it was,and handcuffed at ringside was Maria Starr and Bill Dundee.

Now Maria and Bill knew there was no cameras near them the match. But the entire match they were bickering and cracking me up.

"Bill you are so old you bussed the tables at the last supper"

"Maria you are such a slut if you wear a skirt and a floor vent comes on it sounds like a train is a coming"

No clue how the match actually was cause I was standing there laughing hard at those two.

But CWF memphis is great. I need to find which episode it is but on an old podcast we interviewed Dustin about 2 weeks before CWF Memphis started up and he was a blast.

This has the most CWFHollywood match EVER- Reno Scum vs Beef Candy!  For the tag belts.  Richie Slade is our face in peril and it's funny because Slade in the most heelish looking heel that was ever a heel. He tags out and Flex McCallion becomes out face in peril.  Reno Scum is such a high concept idea.  We need the Altlantic City Scum on the East Coast.  Richie Slade is our slimiest Robert Gibson yet!  He is also the Secret West Coast Super Worker.  Reno Scum is the FTR of CWFH.  Beef Candy is the Beef Candy of CWFH.  Postmatch, all the tag teams on the roster hit the ring and they actually have a pretty great roster of tag teams- Midnight Heat, the Wolf Zaddies, Beef Candy and Reno Scum.  That's pretty good.  Beef Candy are perfectly fine but they are the crappiest team of the four.  That's pretty good.  Levi Shapiro is back!  He's prolly the best wrestler in CWFH, except he is in with fucking Vinnie Masaro so he is the second best wrestler in the ring.  This match is fucking great.  Not long enough.  Bateman is all over the place suddenly.  First he is defending the ROH six man titles yesterday and today he is taking on THAT BASTARD Ray Rosas for a shot at the UNW strap.  I've seen Bateman wrestle before but this would be the first time I ever paid attention to him.  Looking at cagematch.net,  Bateman is 41 years old and has been wrestling for 21 years.  Man, he has wrestled Ray Rosas 22 times in the last ten years.  He's fine.  This match is fine.  That episode was good.

There's a Bateman/Royce Isaacs chain match from I want to say 2019? It was for the UWN TV title. I always dug this match.

I loved that match. Thanks to this forum I learned Z Living aired CWFH  and that  DISH was  carrying  ZLiving back then.

Beef Candy wrestling Miggy Rose and Michael Hopkins is good.  Richie Slade is our Wrestling Machine. Rose and Hopkins are a fun tag team.  They fucking CRUSH Slade with a strange Double Swinging Neckbreaker that drove Slade right on his neck.  Slade, being a Wrestling Machine, is really great at making his opponents look like a million bucks.  Postmatch, Guy Tweekacetti sets up Beef Candy vs Midnight Heat.  It's Prince Nana!  I guess this was before he was brought in to take Tully Blanchard's place in ROH.  Invictus Khash and Raymond Jazocoff has an amateur rules match.  Khash HAS to cheat to win, right?  YES!  BEAT HIS ASS, KHASH!  It says PRO wrestling on the marquee!  So great.  Beloved Wingman, Cezar Bononi, takes on former ROH trios champion, Bateman.  Bononi looks great in this.  Bateman takes Bononi's offense like a champ.  That match is good, mostly because Bateman is a good wrestler.  The Bodega is accompanied by Slice Boogie!  Where has he been.  Zicky Dice has a mystery partner!  Itttttt's..... Sabu?  Danhausen?  Oh, Jordan Cruz!  I think Zicky Dice beat Cruz for the title.  Yes, he did.  Cruz and Limelight are good in the ring together.  This is perfectly fine.

This match is a hoot!  All three Skimahorns take on the good old school heels of Dysfunction.  I'm not ready to watch entire episodes of CWFMemphis just yet.

The Institution take on four dudes and it's perfectly fine.  Honest John is beefing up.  Then we get to hear EJ Sparkz talk and he seems well-spoken.  THEN Jordan Cruz versus Vinnie Massaro!  Massaro hits about as nasty of an EXPLOIDER as one can hit.  It was gnarly. THEN we get a JD Drake PROMO!  He soooo channels Arn Anderson.  THEN EJ Sparkz wrestles Outrageous Zicky Dice!  They note that EJ Sparkz is five time Arizona champion and then notes that Arizona doesn't exist anymore.  Poor Arizona.  Zicky Dice has entrance music that reminds me of my clubbing days.  Children dance to it, which is about all you want.  Sparkz is beefing up too.  I guess he is going to the same "personal trainer" than Honest John is going to.  Zicky Dice is awesome in about  every way a heel can be awesome.  He BRINGS THE HEAT!  He also hits two perfect suplexes, the second one being a perfect EVEREST GERMAN SUPLEX!  Sparkz makes a spirited comeback.  Dice does the awesome thing of pulling the ref into the path of a Sparkz spinning roundhouse kick!  OH NO!  They DQ Sparkz?  That was a pre-HHH shitty WWE finish. THEN Frankie Kazarian talks!  THEN Levi Shapiro wrestles Ju Dizz.  Shapiro is so old school- watch how great his elbow drop is.  His finisher is totally awesome.  The main event is JD Drake versus Popo Esco and this match is interesting because Drake wrestles fatter than he actually is.  He makes it a total fat boy HOSS BATTLE.  Good, not as good as it's been lately, but still good.

Neither am I.  It is a mistake for Dustin Starr to have these clipped individual matches and turn Mempho into a salad bar.  I watch what I want to watch and leave the rest.  Skims vs. Dysfunction was a pretty good match.  Uncle Mikey is your Mempho superworker.

Oh man, one of the best episodes of CWFHollywood EVER!  First Slice Boogie and Danny Limelight fucking BRING IT.  Then Savannah Stone with Alex Gracia, finally CRUSHES Mylo with Johnnie Robbie.  And then the Embassy CHEAT SO MUCH as Jordan Clearwater takes on AEW's Frankie Kazarian.  SO MUCH CHEATING!

The JFK-LAX to the Dead Ass Driver should've been the finish to that badass Slice Boogie vs. Danny Limelight match.  The heel showing of respect with game recognizing game was great.  Boogie's only regret was not pulling Danny's tights first and regardless of who wins, a Bodega member will move on.

What a great time we live in where THE EMBASSY~!  just shows up wherever it pleases?  If Jordan weren't still so green, I'd say make him the new Crown Jewel and drape him with African finery for his entrances.  Clearwater at least has the good taste to evoke Ravishing Rick Rude in his pre-match antics.

This tournament is star studded enough to be really great but they stuck them all in three ways so it is waaaay much less than its parts.  I mean Willie Mack, Taylor Rust, motherfucking Chris Bey, Danny Limelight and Shane Haste are on this episode.  So it's good but not NEARLY as good as it would have been if it was all singles matches or tag team matches.

Jordan Clearwater vs. Colt Cabana was pretty much by the numbers if not a bit overbooked.  Putting Jordan in there with a high-profile vet that will protect him seems to be the preferred strategy.   Clearwater wins via cheating but the record books will still say he holds victories over Frankie Kazarian and Colt Cabana which will give him talking points for promos.  I have no idea who the new monster working for The Embassy is, but The Embassy being everywhere at once is a good thing.  May as well go ahead and crown Clearwater the new Crown Jewel.  Draping him in Ashanti finery is the next logical step for his gimmick.

The three way was a little overbooked as was Clearwater vs. Cabana but at least Danny Limelight got the win.  I feel that Chris Dickenson's reign may be coming to an end and the UWN World Title will be going to a homegrown guy the same way that Clearwater is now holding the Heritage title.  Too bad that Andy Brown appears to have dropped off of the face of the earth after working a couple of UWN shows in Atlanta.

FYI Clearwater has the UWN World Title while Jordan Cruz has the Heritage title. I assume Danny won't beat Clearwater now but might start a face turn redemption later on? This was a perfectly fine hour of indy wrestling. Also I got my friend to watch this episode tonight instead of some XPW trash on Fite so I've done my good deed for the week.

That main event was about all you can get out of a TRIPLE THREAT match.

Man, Kevin Martenson is the Secret Wrestling Machine of the United Wrestling Network. Fidel Bravo is the Snake Brown of the CWFH. Cezar Bononi makes a cameo.  The rest of the episode is all about the ladies!  Mylo is spunky and from Virginia Beach!  That's an hour and forty five minutes from where I am now!  Savanna Stone is very mean and evil.  Invictus Khash makes an appearance.  Reka Tehaka wrestles here and also should be on the WOW re-debut next week.  And Johnnie Robbie!  This is about everything one can love about CWFH.

Midnight Heat are awesome as a poor man's FTR.  Beef Candy is perfectly fine being the victim of Midnight Heat's Midnight Expressness.  The rest of the show is pretty crappy.

WILDLY good episode this week.  Kevin Martenson versus Atticus Cogar is really good.  Ju Dizz versus Divine is REALLY good.  Ju Dizz has the best punches in CWFH.  Divine would be the third best member of the Factory.  Lord Crewe versus El Primohenio is a batch of quality booking.  Candy Girl versus Savanna Stone is really good.  REALLY GOOD!
