Guest The Magnificent 7
I don’t like the idea of series vs. individual games but that’s a minor complaint. Glaring omissions would be: Super Monaco GP 2 Super Hang On Road Rash Ring King Arch Rivals Lakers vs. Celtics and the NBA Playoffs Jordan vs. Bird or Dr. J vs. Bird Rallisport Challenge (DICE) Moto GP (Climax era) Super Baseball 2020 Joe Montana Sportstalk Football Worldwide Soccer 98 10 Yard Fight World Series Baseball Sega Rally Ring King, Super Monaco GP2, and Arch Rivals should absolutely be in this. I can see someone arguing Road Rash ain’t a sports game.
paintedbynumbers
if they make a Blades of Steel in 2020 it would sell like hotcakes.

SirFozzie
Some good choices in there. I tried to think if Lakers vs Celtics and Team USA Basketball would count in the NBA EA series. Trying to figure if we drop the wrestling games if the omissions can fit in. Once we get a field laid out, I'll draw the matchups, if there's any interest in perhaps making a tournament forum. Lamp, broken circa 1988
I would say by the nature of this being a wrestling forum, I would be okay with not allowing the wrestling games in the tournament, because I think there's an inherent bias there. Also there's something about putting, say, the SvR series next to these other games that feels... off. EDIT: Also I ran this list by my brother who is WAY INTO SPORTS GAMES and is like unsure where we're coming down on racing games, specifically the DIRT franchise. I'll stand up for it if no one else will but yeah. Racing games seems like a slippery slope in general, because if Racing Games are in then F-Zero has to be in. Maybe we make that a motorsport thing where it's like gotta be a physically possible sport? I personally wouldn't mind if we omitted the wrestling games and maybe did a separate tournament just for them. There's more than enough there to warrant its own anyway.
Craig H
I think a lot of these are great, but I'd be voting for MLB The Show the whole way through. That's the best sports game I've ever played for gameplay, visuals, and just how much detail is included. I mean, they managed to work in the completely weird MLB rules for free agency, drafts, etc.
Jiji
Would've voted for NBA 2K before they basically went full board VC funbucks. Now I'm not so sure.
SirFozzie
Ok, updated: Removed the wrestling games and tried to add as many omissions as possible. For me, every bit as important to that "frantic" feeling in arcade racers as RC Pro Am / Rock n Roll Racing or Championship Sprint / Ivan Stewart's Off Road. And it can be a series entry or most of the games very easily stand on their own. I am a huge fan of all of the entries, but V3 for the PS1 holds a very special place in my heart for allowing me to use that stupid boomerang multitap and play 8 player, 4 controller multiplayer. Also, how in the fuck do we have this list of 64 and MVP 2005 isn't on it? Until my GameCube memory card got corrupted by the Wii Connect 24 overheating problem, I kept playing through the entire Dynasty mode, which ran for 120 seasons. What a fucking great baseball game. I'd probably go with Bases Loaded vs. RBI, but both of those games got pushed aside in my house for the official MLB NES game.
paintedbynumbers
Ivan Stewart's Off Road is fun to this day!! I just played this on a mod the other night. Easy to play a few hours and get lost in the game.
SirFozzie
Ok,. barring extreme circumstances (like I screwed up and put in a game in twice (don't laugh, I found two that I had double-booked!)). here's is your field of 64. SirFozzie
I used this site to bracket out the non-seeded teams, the team given a bye to the round of 32 on the bracket will play a seeded team) https://challonge.com/tournaments/bracket_generator?ref=eZmbBq8RMI Here we go: In the Madden Region 1 Madden Series vs Mutant League Hockey Blades of Steel vs Front Office Football 4 F-Zero vs 4D Boxing Indy 500 vs Track and Field 2 Tecmo Bowl vs Front Page Sports Baseball series NBA Live (Including Lakers vs Celtics ETC) vs Everybody's Golf 3 FIFA (EA Series) vs Pro Evolution Soccer Super Baseball 2020 vs Cyberball In the NBA 2K Region 1 NBA 2K series vs PGA Tour Golf/Tiger Woods Series (EA) NES Ice Hockey vs RBI Baseball 4 Punch Out!!! vs Ken Griffey Jr Presents Major League Baseball Super Mega Baseball vs Hardball! 2 NHL Hockey Series (EA) vs Super Tennis (SNES) Road Rash vs Rocket League 3 Front Page Sports Football series vs Baseball Simulator 1.000 series Mario Kart vs 10-yard Fight In the NFL 2K Region 1 NFL 2K Series vs Double Dribble Ivan Stewart's Off-Road Racing vs Bases Loaded 4 Tony Hawk Pro Skater Series vs Formula One Racing Series Epyx "Games" series vs Gran Turismo 2 F-Zero vs 4th and Inches Nintendo World Cup vs RC Pro Am 3 MLB The Show vs Sensible Soccer NFL Blitz/Blitz The League series vs Baseball Stars series And finally, in the NCAA Football Region 1 NCAA Football (EA Series) vs Micro League Baseball Series ABC Wide World of Sports Boxing - Knockout Kings (EA) 4 Mutant League Football/Mutant Football League vs UFC Undisputed High Heat Baseball vs Virtua Tennis 2 NBA Jam vs Earl Weaver Baseball Arch-Rivals vs Super Monaco GP series 3 Football Manager vs Links Golf Series Micro Machines Madness vs Out of the Park Baseball Notes: No, I did not rig the draw to put FIFA and PES against each other. Wow. Talk about a tight matchup. I think that, Punch-Out! and Mutant Football are the only three seeds to be in true trouble in the round of 64.. Kinda Bizarre that out of the very few boxing games in the field, ABC Wide World of Sports and Knockout Kings got put against each other.

John E. Dynamite
I'm all for the idea but you can't do non-sim racing games, and I say this as somebody who would probably vote for them. Different beast. A Mario Kart vs. NFL 2K finals doesn't click. Edited January 26, 2020 by John E. Dynamite
SirFozzie
Haven't forgotten, but things have come up in real life, I need to ask Rippa and crew how they want to handle this (if they want to open a tourney time forum in here, etcetera)
