20th Century Fox and Fox Searchlight are having their names changed, by Disney. Got to disassociate themselves from Fox News. 20th Century Pictures and Searchlight Pictures are going to be the new names.

Meanwhile Dolittle (2020) is 13% Rotten on Rotten Tomatoes. That's lower than Cats (2019) 20% Rotten score!

The Pitch Meeting nailed it:

Saw Bad Boys For Life and think it's the best of the trilogy. I guess no Michael Bay will do that.

I thought it was tremendous and we'll see what happens once the new peeps start running with the torch passed on to them.  I'm guessing this is when Will Smith goes from Producer to Executive Producer.

I can't be the only guy that marked the fuck out when I noticed that they got Kate del Castillo aka Teresa Mendoza from La Reina del Sur (THE ORIGINAL QUEEN OF THE SOUTH~!!!) to play the villain in BB4L.

I've never seen QOTS. Is it any good? And, yes, La Bruja was really good.

The original telenovela with Kate del Castillo is really good, but the USA adaptation with Alice Braga is a bit more action focused and has a smidge more violence for us American gun porn lovers.

IIRC, Netflix should have both S1 and S2 of La Reina by now.

Caught The Gentlemen and I was thoroughly taken aback by it's wanton use of the C-word. The amount of violence was also off putting, it's flagrant promotion of the illegal drug trade was also quite shocking.

The most shocking thing of it all is

I enjoyed the hell out of this movie.

It's not Snatch Part Deux and it shouldn't aspire to be.

If you're a fan of Guy Ritchie then this should be right in your wheelhouse.

Premiering today at our islands of misfit cinemas, we have The Gentlemen, The Turning and, well, this ...

JOHN HENRY

Terry Crews realizes being muscular means starring in your own B-level action flicks, while Ludacris looks …. different.

I'm disappinted this is not actually John Henry vs the Steam Engine.

I don't know if I've spoke on this but The Rewatchables is one of my favorite podcasts out today.  I was listening to the most recent Heat podcast and I'm in the camp that it's one of the best movies of the past 25 years.  Like,  everything about it is perfect to me and it's the definition of 'rewatchable'.  It spawned several copy cats trying to recreate that bank robbery scene which is just impossible to do,  but there's so much more to it than that and the diner scene.. the cast is just amazing.  The directing is amazing.

I can't believe it got basically shutout at the Oscars. For as much shit as the Oscars receive today, I think if this had come out today it would have been more appreciated by the Academy.

So the best picture nominees that year were:

Braveheart, Babe, Il Postino, apollo 13 and Sense and Sensibility.

Heat is probably better than most if not all of those.

Honestly, I think you can make a really strong argument for Babe being the best. That movie is really goddamn good.

I think I've managed to watch the very worst theatrically-released film I've ever seen: the remake of Conan the Barbarian with Jason Momoa, which is on Hulu.

I do not say this lightly; I paid for tickets to see both the Kilmer/Brando Island of Dr. Moreau and Blair Witch Project 2: Book of Shadows, which were...ugh.  Just ugh.  But this was somehow worse.  The acting is terrible.  The dialogue doesn't even sound like it was recorded correctly, as half of it is mumbled (though Momoa as your star really doesn't help on that front).  The story makes no sense at all, the fight choreography seems like it was done by 4 year olds who thought Star Wars lightsaber scenes were realistic, and the special effects feel like a TV movie from the 90s.

I get the impression that, when this was being cast, they initially sent the script to Clifton Collins Jr. to play Ela-Shan, before casting...whoever they cast.  And Clifton, star of goddamned Boondock Saints 2 for Christ's sake, probably said, "This is the most unredeemable piece of crap I've ever read.  Fuuuuuck no, I'm gonna go do Westworld and be awesome."

And Hulu has a sense of humor.  During the credits: "Up Next: The Last Airbender"
