UPCOMING VIDEO GAME RELEASES (2020 & Beyond)

I feel like Cyberpunk will take a long time to fully explore and do everything, so I'm happy that there won't be much of anything going up against it.

Then again... Predator tho. I like what I've seen so far. Looks far more polished than Friday the 13th but that is the lowest of bars, despite being a damn blast for a while there.

Given the amount of broken ass games that have come out, pushing back dates to do more polish is kinda what we want, no?

I think for normal, rational human beings yes

Sadly 99% of gamers don’t fall under that description

At least Persona 5 Royal gets a little less lost in the shuffle.  It's a game you should all be playing eventually, at least.  Or just the regular one.  Whichever.  This has a lot more stuff added in comparison to Persona 4 vs Persona 4 Golden.

For those that can't read tiny print on a yellow background (though you should have practice from all those old DVDVRs)

Cyberpunk 2077 is delayed till Sept 17, 2020

People need to just stop announcing dates for shit.

I don't think that's really a problem.  I thing gamers just need to chill the fuck out and understand that delays are not necessarily a bad thing.

What good is a game that comes out on target and is a buggy piece of shit?   We've all been through that.

Well I think all it took was for that one major title to be upfront and delay and be open and honest about it to allow a lot of the other companies to feel comfortable doing so.

Of course - I don't think any of the delayed games have been from EA though....

Starting to think that setting totally unrealistic production schedules isn't working

Companies are finally starting to realize/accept that just because the game is technically done in content doesn't mean its been polished enough as far as maintenance goes.

In fairness, Rockstar has never been worth a shit at doing anything online and there's no real indication they ever will be.

I mean, if I could make a billion dollar property without having it actually work well, I'd probably do it too.

As someone who stays away from Red Dead Online like the plague, l think it’s hard to say GTA Online wasn’t a giant success overall. The problem with Red Dead was always “how do come up with interesting stuff to buy in a game that’s date is set in the early 1900’s?” And it’s over a year later and I still don’t think they found an answer. GTA Online by comparison still has a gigantic player base due to the sheer amount of stuff it does well, for as laggy as the game can be.

You have to remember though - it took GTA Online, what, a year to function properly?

Most games aren’t going to survive that if you don’t have a built audience like a Rockstar game does

You aren’t wrong, though I will say not many studios would have the same problems in terms of player base for there first big online release like Rockstar did with GTA. And as many problems as there were (and still are, at times), the game never lacked for things to do. The biggest problem with Red Dead was always how do you sell a player base on horse races when you can go back to GTA Online and do super car races, and that sort.

I think the biggest problem with RDR Online is the repetitiveness (not discussing the bugs). You can only do bounties or moonshine deliveries or find collectibles so many times. Unless you like PVP, which I never do.

Exactly this. When GTA came out it had races, deathmatches, survivals, and tons of missions to play through to get RP and Money, as well Simeon Vehicles, Robberies, and other stuff in free mode. And it constantly changed after that, from the Biker MC’s and there businesses, to the CEO office and there cargo business, which then doubled down into Vehicle Cargo missions. Then you got the Heists, as well as the Doomsday Heists after that, then followed that up with the Nightclub and Casino stuff, and now the Casino Heists as well. And that’s just free mode! GTA Online constantly evolved and still gets ton of traffic 7 years after launch. It’s why it was my pick for game of the decade.

AAA games getting delayed doesn't bode well for next generation consoles (Xbox Series X/PS5). If people are playing Final Fantasy VII Remake, Cyberpunk 2077 and The Last of Us Part II on PS4 in September/October/November, Sony and Microsoft would be smart to delay their consoles to after Christmas 2020 or spring 2021. Of course, they could do special enhancements that are unique to their consoles and have those games as part of their launch lineups on XBX & PS5.

If Iron Man VR got delayed too, it may not be that great anyway.
