Gonzo Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 I didn't see a thread for it and, honestly, I wasn't sure where else to put this. If the mods want to move or rearrange or whatever, I understand. 3
DreamBroken Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Totally wasn't expecting that, assumed show was over. That was pretty cool.
Cobra Commander Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 guess we have to buy CM Punk another house now.. (we're a few weeks away from the 5 year anniversary of that podcast)
Casey Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 This will be the only WWE show I watch, and it's strictly because of CM Punk. So, good play WWE and/or FOX. 1
Ryan Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 (edited) I bet more people see that clip on twitter than watched the show by a factor of....a very large number. Edited November 13, 2019 by Ryan 1
Guest Edwin Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 @Niners Fan in CT and Ryan Satin's friends maybe the only folks who actually watched this, so yeah, that's a safe bet.

Niners Fan in CT Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Uh nah I was too embarrassed to watch a second week in a row.
John from Cincinnati Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 I know the talk is that his contract is with Fox and not WWE, but I don't care. 2
John from Cincinnati Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 WWE statement: Quote After a nearly six-year absence from WWE TV, CM Punk made a shocking, unannounced appearance on Tuesday night’s episode of WWE Backstage, FS1’s new weekly studio show. The two-time WWE Champion arrived during the show’s final moments, entering to the sounds of Living Colour’s “Cult of Personality,” Punk’s entrance music during his storied in-ring career. “It’s as simple as this: Just when they think they’ve got the answers, I change the culture,” Punk told the camera, before adding, “I’ll see you here next week.” Within minutes, the WWE on FOX Twitter account confirmed that Punk will make periodic appearances on WWE Backstage beginning next Tuesday. Punk left an unforgettable legacy during his WWE career, including holding the WWE Championship for a remarkable 434 days. Since parting ways with WWE, Punk has gone on to author comic books for Marvel, compete in the UFC and, more recently, star in the horror film “Girl on the Third Floor,” released in theaters last month. Don’t miss Punk’s headline-making return to WWE Backstage next Tuesday at 11 p.m. ET on FS1. https://www.wwe.com/article/cm-punk-surprise-appearance-on-wwe-backstage?sf223539661=1&utm_source=t.co&utm_medium=referral "Periodic appearances."
Casey Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 I'm curious as to if he'll actually get the freedom to talk about stuff he does (and doesn't) like on WWE programming. If he gets to be honest, it'll be compelling television. If not, well, I wouldn't be surprised. WWE supposedly gave their blessing for FOX to hire him (yeah, no shit) but I'm also weary of whether they'd go for Punk shitting all over stuff like the Rusev/Lashley storyline (just an example - maybe Punk likes that, who knows).
Hector Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Renee: "So Punk a lot of people are doubting NXT's chances at Survivor Series. Do you think they really have a shot?" Punk: "Uhh yeah. I think they're young guys and you can never really take that sort of thing for granted. You know what I mean?" *goes back to watching hockey games on his phone* 1
Craig H Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Like, I'm not going to lie, I thought this was pretty cool at first. And then on second thought, it's an easy paycheck for him on a show few watch where I doubt he'll have the freedom to actually speak the truth about how objectively fucking terrible Raw and SmackDown are. So really, who cares. 1
John from Cincinnati Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 This could easily be a first step towards something more, but the people getting excited because Survivor Series is in Chicago are getting waaaaaayyy ahead of themselves. 1

Cobra Commander Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 wonder how many of the weeks where Punk doesn't appear will happen to be weeks where the Blackhawks are playing (they're playing next Tuesday, so he'll step away from a game for that)
Niners Fan in CT Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 He might appear in Chicago but if he's just going to be what Edge is for Toronto then it's not going to do much for me personally. I'm not saying he should return to in-ring action either but maybe as a commentator or manager role would be cool.
John from Cincinnati Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 If he's in a building where a show is being held, I don't think you can jump straight to bringing him back to do commentary. I can't imagine a bigger distraction. It'd be like Macho Man making his return to WWE and ending up at the desk. 1
TheVileOne Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Is it possible the low ratings for the premiere made FOX really desperate? The dirt sheets were basically saying the Punk Backstage deal wasn't happening.

Ryan Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Time for Punk vs Triple H at Mania....in a Talk Battle, Japan style. 2

God, I want this more than Punk returning as a wrestler at this point. Although, to be fair, they got off to a horrible start and they're showing signs of life. Edited November 13, 2019 by Craig H
TheVileOne Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 To me it says a lot that Vince or Triple H never tried calling Punk once in almost six years.
