I didn't see a thread for it and, honestly, I wasn't sure where else to put this.

If the mods want to move or rearrange or whatever, I understand.

This will be the only WWE show I watch, and it's strictly because of CM Punk.

So, good play WWE and/or FOX.

I bet more people see that clip on twitter than watched the show by a factor of....a very large number.

guess we have to buy CM Punk another house now..

(we're a few weeks away from the 5 year anniversary of that podcast)

I already felt old thinking about that...then I realized I don't think Joe and Punk have been in the same room on camera together in 14 years.

WWE statement:

Quote

After a nearly six-year absence from WWE TV, CM Punk made a shocking, unannounced appearance on Tuesday night’s episode of WWE Backstage, FS1’s new weekly studio show.

The two-time WWE Champion arrived during the show’s final moments, entering to the sounds of Living Colour’s “Cult of Personality,” Punk’s entrance music during his storied in-ring career.

“It’s as simple as this: Just when they think they’ve got the answers, I change the culture,” Punk told the camera, before adding, “I’ll see you here next week.”

Within minutes, the WWE on FOX Twitter account confirmed that Punk will make periodic appearances on WWE Backstage beginning next Tuesday.

Punk left an unforgettable legacy during his WWE career, including holding the WWE Championship for a remarkable 434 days. Since parting ways with WWE, Punk has gone on to author comic books for Marvel, compete in the UFC and, more recently, star in the horror film “Girl on the Third Floor,” released in theaters last month.

Don’t miss Punk’s headline-making return to WWE Backstage next Tuesday at 11 p.m. ET on FS1.

I'm curious as to if he'll actually get the freedom to talk about stuff he does (and doesn't) like on WWE programming. If he gets to be honest, it'll be compelling television. If not, well, I wouldn't be surprised. WWE supposedly gave their blessing for FOX to hire him (yeah, no shit) but I'm also weary of whether they'd go for Punk shitting all over stuff like the Rusev/Lashley storyline (just an example - maybe Punk likes that, who knows).

Renee: "So Punk a lot of people are doubting NXT's chances at Survivor Series. Do you think they really have a shot?"

Punk: "Uhh yeah. I think they're young guys and you can never really take that sort of thing for granted. You know what I mean?"

*goes back to watching hockey games on his phone*

Like, I'm not going to lie, I thought this was pretty cool at first.

And then on second thought, it's an easy paycheck for him on a show few watch where I doubt he'll have the freedom to actually speak the truth about how objectively fucking terrible Raw and SmackDown are. So really, who cares.

wonder how many of the weeks where Punk doesn't appear will happen to be weeks where the Blackhawks are playing (they're playing next Tuesday, so he'll step away from a game for that)

He might appear in Chicago but if he's just going to be what Edge is for Toronto then it's not going to do much for me personally.  I'm not saying he should return to in-ring action either but maybe as a commentator or manager role would be cool.

If he's in a building where a show is being held, I don't think you can jump straight to bringing him back to do commentary. I can't imagine a bigger distraction. It'd be like Macho Man making his return to WWE and ending up at the desk.

Is it possible the low ratings for the premiere made FOX really desperate? The dirt sheets were basically saying the Punk Backstage deal wasn't happening.

Maybe Punk returning to WWE is what will get the Blackhawks out of the depths of the Western Conference.

Time for Punk vs Triple H at Mania....in a Talk Battle, Japan style.

God, I want this more than Punk returning as a wrestler at this point.

Although, to be fair, they got off to a horrible start and they're showing signs of life.
