Have you had their Thanksgiving dinner? Why else would he be there?

I eat the thanksgiving dinner I make, or my family makes. Either way. Only time I eat anything resembling a Thanksgiving meal is the one time a year we stop at a Bob Evans on the way home from a long road trip.

And we don't have a Cracker Barrel here.

Janella gets a steady check without having to kill himself in the dirtiest of conditions AND he still gets to put on his Spring Break show.

Considering the stuff with him and Enzo was a work, I'm guessing everything is a work, which includes that tweet.

Guh?

Is it possible Janela wasn't told how he was getting eliminated last week? Yeah, I wouldn't be thrilled about that either if that's the case. He's definitely right about losing his steam. Coming out on the short end of a feud with Shawn Spears will do that.

Let's hope this is a work. I don't want @West Newbury Bad Boy to get any satisfaction from this. I want him to suffer like it's still the 2019 Blue Jays regular season.

Man, Penta going back to that overkill mode from a few years ago with a vengeance in that match with Trent. Took a bit to get the crowd into it but they did and it was super fun watching a great ass kicker like Penta dish out the offense on one of the world's better sellers in Trent. Then Penta hit all of his shit and still managed to lose. If they're heading towards a Penta push, it must not be for a long while yet sadly. I love both of these dudes btw, but Penta would have the higher ceiling in my mind. I just wish he'd tone down just a bit of his offense in matches like this.

AEW is in a real hard place with some of these indie stars. Havoc, and Janela are miscast in these roles as just another wrestler. Sure you can try to book them as underdogs, but they don’t have the boy-ish good looks of Darby, and Jungle Boy. So everybody just feels indifferent about them. Havoc I feel doesn’t bring much, but Janela could bring more as a heelish character. We’ve already seen a bit of that on BTE. He’s that guy in the bar that no man, or women wants to hit on, or be hit on by him, so out of anger he picks a fight with people. We should see more of that on TV. Maybe interrupting promos by not only faces like Moxley, but also with heels like Jericho until he’s established as the guy nobody likes.

I don’t think it’s a secret that Janella has charisma to burn and looks like shit, it’s pretty much his whole gimmick. I think @LoneWolf&Subs is right, we need to see more of his wild man, party animal side, heel or face. Interrupting interviews is good. You could also have him miss a match because he’s too busy partying in the back, things like that. Something to get him over outside of the ring because if you’re just throwing him in there to get beat up by guys in much better shape than him he just looks like a jobber. (Warning: fantasy booking) I mentioned AEW needing a New Jack type, why not turn Joey into a happy go lucky version? He sees a bunch of people in the ring and decides it’s time to party. He can still lose when he has to but at least he’d get over in the process.

Minor critiques about AEW generally:

- for a promotion that has DDP in an agent role, too many people are doing cutters.  For that matter, too many people are doing the same moves.  If I see a dude doing another running shooting star press, I'm gonna switch.

- matches are too long.  I don't need a barnburner every damn match.

- Need more talking so we kinda get where everyone's coming from.  Maybe video promos, but interviews with a Mean Gene type might get us to where we need to be.  Do it on the ramp or in the ring, I don't care.  I don't think they ever explained the Lucha Bros pseudo heel turn.  Until Evil Uno spoke last week recruiting Marko, I don't think I ever got the Dark Order.  Now I do, kinda.  Why are Shawn Spears and Joey Janela feuding?  Why is a Spears a chairman?  Why is Tully with him, when he's a losing bum?  Who the hell is Sammy Guevara and why is he in the Inner Circle?  Why are Proud and Powerful in the Inner Circle?  Who the hell is Kip Sabian?

- Clear up the Elite and management -- do they book the matches or no?  There should probably be a buffer between them and match making.  They got Arn, DDP and Malenko backstage.  Make them the "booking committee" and in charge of booking matches, but keep them in a Jack Tunney role.

- Finishers.  Not crazy about a bunch of the finishers, and the finisher's names.  SCU does about twenty double team moves that look better than what they've been using as a finisher.  Moxley's Paradigm Shift is great, but the name is dumb.  What was wrong with Deathrider?  Hangman Page's "Dead Eye" is eye-rolling.  Pac's Brutalizer?

- I love that AEW is here, and I almost always prefer to watch it live over NXT -- Just has more life to it.  These are minor criticisms.

Are you watching this on 2x or something?
Sammy’s whole deal played out over the first episode not sure how you missed it.
Jericho did an interview on TV explaining how he scouted P&P for the group.

Otherwise I’ll agree on every match not having to be some epic 20+ minute battle. The moves thing I also agree on but I think your just going to have to get use to it at this point.

I think eventually we’ll get more interviews and such but this company knew it was going to be under a microscope and is trying to avoid any misfires or anything for people to jump on so they are not taking as many chances YET.

^^^^^^ I'm an AEW fanboy but those are fair criticisms.

It's great to see Kylie posting again and hopefully that shuts up all the weird rumors once and for all.  It won't because it's the internet but worth a try.

Only thing I caught from Dark was Swole/Shanna.  I like how Shanna's video took a few minutes yet Swole introduced herself in a fraction of the time.  Match was a bit disjointed at times buy I liked it anyway.  Hoping to get my internet situation sorted out in time for Dynamite.  One of the downsides of moving is finding out Comcast doesn't cover your area and even though I booked Fios to come out the earliest they can is next Thursday.  So we'll see what happens.

And @Craig H if/when Marty shows up I can't wait for us to go "Holy shit there's Marty!!!!  And we met him a couple weeks ago!"  I'll be bummed if he re-signs with ROH but assuming he doesn't that's gonna rule.

I don't think DDP is in an agent role. He's just there whenever Cody calls on him for appearances and such. I'm pretty sure Dallas has said he's not signed to AEW.

They've had squash matches on Dynamite, so not every match they've had are "barnburners".

I think in time, you'll get more promos. We're already seeing the introduction of video packages and whatnot, so it can't be too far behind. But, uh... let's hit this next part rapid fire style.

  • Fenix literally just snubbed Nick last week, and Pentagon is Pentagon, so I think the story will unfold more in the coming weeks. The attack on SCU during the tag tournament can be waived away as just them wanting to get an advantage or something.
  • A few of us on here have always understood the Dark Order, but I'll be the first to admit that "Scientology style cult" as a gimmick for them wasn't the route I was expecting.
  • Spears/Janela's feud started on either BTE or Dark, I can't remember which. It was basically over Janela putting out a cigarette in Tully's Pepsi or some shit, and probably a snide remark he made towards Tully and Spears. I'm pretty sure they've just shoehorned the "fuck garbage wrestling" angle into the storyline in the last few weeks without any explanation.
  • Uhhhhh... Spears is a chairman because he clobbered Cody over the head with a chair at their second ever event.
  • They've explained why Sammy, Ortiz & Santana are in the Inner Circle.
  • I don't care enough about Kip Sabian to answer your final question.

Tony Khan booked Moxley/Omega in the Lights Out match, in the opening to the episode before Full Gear (right?), so I'm pretty sure he's the "Jack Tunney" guy.

I can't help you on not liking the names of finishers and what SCU chooses as their tag team finish. That sounds like an opinion, not something you're asking about. For the record, I like Paradigm Shift as a name, and the Brutalizer. I get where they're coming from with the Dead Eye, but I feel like Red Dead Redemption isn't that popular anymore. But I get it.

People keep harping on the fact that they big up angles and sometimes start them on Being The Elite (and Dark, or social media), but I don't think that's something that's going to change. For better or worse, that's here to stay. But, hey... people like me will always be here to fill you in! ?

I'm kind of happy Penta lost to Trent. The Lucha Bros theme is terrible and I didn't want to hear it again.
