The other possibility is that he announces that if he loses, he’ll retire forever.

“How do they get out of it”, you ask? Dusty finish, bitch! Cody wins, and gets a visible pin on Jericho, but Jericho attacked the other ref prior to the backup ref counting the pin. So a DQ, but you can’t win the belt with a DQ.

Has AEW even established that rule?  I wouldn't be surprised if AEW allows belts to change on countouts but not DQs like NJPW does.

See, Pittsburgh isn't a shitty wrestling town.

Pittsburgh has always been a good wrestling town but the crowds are picky and won't be hot if it's even a slightly boring show, hence the "Here We Go Steelers" chants that used to happen at WWE events.

Boom.

You know when I was watching live I wondered if he turned the handle from the inside, or the outside because everything happened so fast. If he didn’t turn it from the inside I think this would’ve fell apart.

Yeah I hard time believing that the crowd would be that hot for Britt Baker if she didn't come out with the Steelers "mascot" and had Steelers based ring gear.  Also whoever thought of those AEW like  terrible towels should get a bonus.    That's being said, these enhancement matches needs to shorter.  I mean I guess you don't have to portray it like that since she and Bea Priestley are partners but that was way way too long.

I have no idea what Brandi Rhodes was doing.  Was she trying to capture Jenn Sterger's mind putting her hand out there like that.  Also again confusing because Cody seems to be a face and now his wife is a crazy heel.

I'm glad Kevin Nash let everyone know that these pro wrestling segments aren't real. What a relief.

Ugh, Kevin Nash. I remember what Jim Cornette in his first shoot said about Nash. I also remember what Eddie Guerrero wrote about Nash.

I was very surprised that Bea Priestly wasn't in the Steely McBeam costume. Maybe she was in Japan or something - but if she wasn't, and she was available, it feels like a missed opportunity to further that feud. Bea gave her a concussion at Fight For The Fallen, and cost her the Casino Battle Royale. They've got two weeks of TV left until Full Gear, and if Britt & Bea are having a match there, they need to kick it into gear (no pun intended) because as of now, it's pretty stop and start, and that's annoying as shit.

Why wouldn't Jericho want the adulation and his name all over the product? it ties into his yearning for gratitude.

I've read Nash's tweet a dozen times and still don't know what he's talking about.

His complaint is that as a paying customer, Jericho wouldn't have a live mic just like no one else in the crowd would have one. So to Nash, the whole thing looked like a work.

His criticism is beyond dumb. Why let Hall jump the rail at Nitro? Why would any of them be surprised at them being there if they were on the WCW roster? MY god, it must be because it's a work.

Tell Kevin Nash to go fuck Kevin Nash.

To Nash's point, it also doesn't help that it's the boss against his sworn enemy at the PPV, and yet the sworn enemy has provided a theme song for the event. Minor detail but still.

I thought that was weird too, but you could easily kayfabe this (either within the next two weeks before Full Gear, or in your own head) - Jericho has a lot of perks in his contract, and one of them was his band providing the theme song for a future PPV event. He gets his standard wrestler pay, and on top of that a bonus for his music being used as the theme song.

Personally, I still don't understand why the World Champion would need a ticket to attend the show. You could have gotten the same effect with showing a picture-in-picture of the Inner Circle walking through the corridor where the vendors are to get to the VIP box, and it wouldn't have interfered with the SCU/Dark Order match like it did. Unless I missed something, Jericho and his cronies weren't banned from the show or whatever prior to last night's broadcast, which is usually why wrestlers "buy a ticket" and sit in the crowd. This was just pretty random.

"Mike" is the standard short form for"microphone", though I realize "mic" is growing in popularity.

What?!? I’m 33, and it’s been “mic” since I’ve been born. Is this like when adjectives became verbs, and verbs became adjectives in the mid-90’s?

The mic was a “Wait, why does he have that?” moment for me too, but it’s easily enough handwaved away by saying they sent a reporter up there and Jericho took their mic. Also, I missed the start of the show, but if the Inner Circle wasn’t actually banned and just bought a luxury box to hang out and party in, then there’s no reason he wouldn’t have a mic.

They could easily enough say it was already in Jericho’s contract.

Granted, these are the types of things people nitpick when other promotions do them as well.

I was glad to see a vignette for the Dark Order since they hadn’t appeared yet. I thought more people had yet to appear, but after last night, I think it’s mainly just Kip Sabian from the men’s roster.

I popped for DDP. I’m going to the Charlotte show at Bojangles Coliseum, which is where I saw my first live wrestling event, Slamboree ‘97. I met DDP and Kimberly at a signing they did when tickets for the show went on sale (Kimberly even said she recognized my AOL Grandstand handle), so it’s kind of neat that it’s kind of full circle now.
