What a weekend that was for Spanish football and what a week to look forward to ahead.

Some big games with league table implications throughout the week:

Tuesday:

  • Valladolid vs. Granada (third place on league table, 1 point behind co-league table leaders Athletic Club and Madrid and coming off a massive win over Barça)
  • Barça (continue to struggle under Valverde who for some reason is still in charge and is coming off a massive loss to Granada) vs. Villarreal (currently on a two game win streak with wins over Leganés and Valladolid)

Wednesday:

  • Leganés vs. Athletic Club (undefeated, co-league leaders with Madrid)
  • Mallorca vs. Atleti (were at the top of the league table for the first couple of weeks of the league, but have stumbled and are struggling to convert any shots on goal)

Thursday:

  • Eibar vs. Sevilla (one of the co-league leaders for weeks and are still near the top of the table, but are coming off a loss to Madrid)
  • La Real (near the top of the table and riding a 2 win game streak with one being a massive win against Atleti) vs. Alavés

Saturday:

  • Athletic Club vs. Valencia
  • Getafe vs. Barça
  • Granada vs. Leganés
  • Atleti vs. Madrid

Sunday:

  • Sevilla vs. la Real

Messi started for the first time after returning from injury against Villarreal yesterday. Barcelona won 2-1 and he had to get subbed off in the second half. The Spanish media is reporting he suffered a groin injury and they are not sure if he will be healthy to play against Getafe on Saturday. Also, Santi Cazorla was the one to convert the solo Villarreal goal.

West Ham Oxford United are now the best United in England, it seems. Tell your families you love them, lads. I think the world is probably ending.

Fixed that for, uh... me?

Oviedo finally win. Still bottom, though.

in other less important games, there were some champions league matches tonight. ?

Bad night for the energy drink teams, although I don’t know if Lyon beating Leipzig is a huge upset or not.

Not sure you're aware, but Fanatiz is airing Segunda Division games live so you may want to give them a check if you want to watch Oviedo games live.

Inter outplayed Barça for 45 minutes. Semedo played at LB and he sucked because Alba was suspended for the game and Firpo is injured again. Toro Martinez, Asamoah, Godín and Brozovic looked incredible in that first half in a total Conte masterclass, but then fell apart with Valverde's subs and Suárez converted an incredible brace that saw Barça barely scrape by in a 2-1 win.

Also wearing red, with a glorious past and terrible present, Milan are doing poorly, too.
