I really enjoy that transposing one letter makes that nickname so insulting. It should also be noted that 4 @ $73MM means he makes the exact same money as the deal he signed with MIL, as it breaks down to $18.25 per. Likes his chances in the AL Central as opposed to the NL, I guess? Or maybe the opportunity to DH on days he's not behind the dish. Pretty decent sock over the last couple of years, so not a bad choice to use him as such. Yeah, Grandal just gets three extra years guaranteed and an extra $2.25 million from the buyout with the Brewers. Good add for the ChiSox. Played 153 games last year for the Brewers, starting 140 between C and 1B, could easily hit 150+ again with the DH as an option.
RIPPA
The White Sox also announced they have agreed to an extension with Jose Abreu 3 years, $50 million (though technically the QO he already accepted is included in this) He gets a $4 million signing bonus, $11 million in 2020, $16 million in 2021 and $18 million in 2023
RIPPA
So the Yanks have informed Ellsbury and his agent (Scott Boras) that they will not be paying Ellsbury the remaining $26 million of his contract. The team claims that Ellsbury breached his contract as he was treated by a doctor in Atlanta without the team's permission. To take from the Trade Rumors story Quote We don’t know much about the precise factual underpinnings of this issue, but the reporting suggests the team believes that Ellsbury acted inappropriately for multiple years. Presumably, the organization believes it can establish that the alleged actions not only violated the terms of his contract, but also contributed to his inability to return to the field of play over the past two seasons. MLBPA has already announced that they will be fighting any attempt to withhold money
RIPPA
MLB has announced that for the first time they will name an "All MLB" team (similar to All-Pro or All NBA) The teams (since they are doing a 1st and 2nd team) will be announced during the Winter Meetings Details - All one team (no AL and NL team) - There will be a DH spot - Outfield will be regardless of which spot you play - 5 starting pitchers. 2 RP Part of the vote is determined by fan vote so you can see the "finalists" at the following link https://www.mlb.com/fans/all-mlb-team

grilledcheese
Not a Dodger problem anymore, but a bummer nonetheless. I'm a big fan of this dude. I can't imagine anybody is going to cut him a major league deal with this TJ-lite surgery happening. Article says he'll be ready by June, but 39 and surgery to fix a UCL issue sounds like the end of a career. https://www.dodgersnation.com/dodgers-news-rich-hill-undergoes-surgery-will-not-be-ready-for-opening-day/2019/11/25/
RIPPA
Quote The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired infielder Luis Urias and left-hander Eric Lauer from the San Diego Padres for outfielder Trent Grisham and right-hander Zach Davies in a swap of high-end prospects and veteran pitchers, a source tells ESPN's Jeff Passan. RIPPA
Well it appears Baltimore is going to be doing their rebuild on the cheap. They are releasing one of the few decent players they having in Jonathan Villar. Villar was projected to make around $10.5 million in arbitration and that was a bridge too far for them. Their payroll is south of $80 million at the moment and its not like they are going to be signing any high dollar free agents.
