NXT - AUGUST 2019

While not announced, the NXT on FS 1 is tentatively set for 8-10 p.m. on Wednesday nights. For obvious reasons, that was the time slot expected but this was the first info we were given listing a time slot. Of course it wasn’t going to be finalized until TNT announced the time slot. Not sure when this starts or how Big East basketball on FS 1 affects this, or what this means for NXT on WWE Network, or what the start date will be. It’s not official until the announcement is made but this has been expected and as noted a few weeks ago, it’s far enough along that FOX told some affiliates already. The working idea is for a live two hour show with the feeling that a taped show will not work to head-off AEW. Where WWE feels they have the edge is they have an endless supply of main roster talent they can shuffle in whenever they want them. Whether this goes from Full Sail, which may get tough with shows weekly to keep crowd enthusiasm up int the same venue (although they’ll be using more main roster guys and the Full Sail crowd pops big for those every time out) or they tape it and tour with it is unknown. But we were told this was largely agreed to in late June. or early July. One would think WWE and FOX will heavily promote this on Smackdown each week and possibly on Raw, and FS 1 will see that they are in a war with TNT on Wednesdays which means FOX will be out there promoting it. The other psychology over who gets off stronger and how WWE reacts if they lose early or AEW reacts if they lose early will be very interesting. TNT is in more homes, is a much higher rated station, but WWE is the name brand to the masses and NXT would be promoted on the two most-watched shows

I am not surprised by this one bit but it just hit me how crazy it is that a bunch of indy stars we've loved for years are getting an even bigger spotlight than before.  I hate what WWE is doing but I feel pretty happy for the NXT roster getting a bigger platform.

Also, @RIPPA Just a heads up but when I quoted the quote box it only brought the box in but not the text inside it.  I'm cool with copying/pasting but figured I'd let you know.

When you quote a post that is only a quote box - the "new" quote box is always empty.

If I had put text under the quote box it would have only quoted that text

And if you are going to cut and paste - paste as plain text

So WWE are bringing the Monday Night Wars to Wednesday.

To be fair - they were talking about moving NXT to FS1 from before the move to Fox was even announced since FOX had wanted more programming (the same reason they are adding the WWE studio show on FS1 too)

I mean AEW announcing Wed made Vince 100% decide to do it as opposed to the usual "Vince will never make up mind" (like what happened with the indie shows on the Network)

They're going to ruin NXT aren't they?  The only wrestling show I keep up with is going to get put on regular television, infused it with "Main Roster Guys," and turned into the bullshit WWE television that I hate.  Why fix the only part of this bullshit ass company that isn't completely broken?

Guest Edwin

When is NXT expected to debut on FS1?

They have 2 tapings scheduled for September which should cover 6 weeks of TV or 2 2 hour TV tapings if it's what they will be using for FS1.

Best guess it would either be in conjunction with the SDL on FOX start date or the same Wed that AEW debuts

Based on scheduling guesses - they could use the Sept taping for the supposedly soon to be announced MYC (or they would just cancel it)

NXT roster is already pretty loaded, so much so that they easily did an 8 man tournament of just guys that haven't been on tv.  That, along with a bunch of women they haven't debuted yet should fill up the two hours.  They should just keep the same formula (squash/feature matches with one quality main event) and just repeat that for the second hour.

I really don't want NXT to expand so much, mostly just because its easier to keep up with it as it is. It is interesting though since one could make the argument they were going to need to do this regardless with AEW coming on the same day.

The solution that the internet would like the most is that it would be just NXT one hour/205Live the other hour

But that isnt going to happen for many reasons (and that isn't me endorsing that idea either)

A 90 minute show would be the sweet spot between not enough time and overexposure, but obviously it's not a possible option.

Remember - NXT on FS1 will have commercials so the actual "wrestling" time will be roughly 90 minutes

It feels like it. Tonight was the first time I've turned off a Takeover out of boredom. I was more interested in a show about Charles Manson's funeral, then Tombstone. That's a movie I'll watch everytime it's on.

Leave NXT alone, god damnit. I don't want main roster bullshit infiltrating the shows. If we have to have guys cycle down there, I'm ok with it as long as it's along the lines of breezeango and Killian Dane. The idea that everything has to be live and two hours just depresses me the most. Part of what makes NXT work is that you have time to miss guys. With only an hour you can't feature everyone, so there is room to breathe and you get to see different people every week. The weekly show isn't perfect, but no show for any promotion ever is perfect. But this is the show where I don't have to deal with stupid heel authority figures and crap over whose running the company and all the other main roster shit. Don't Vince this up, damnit

This video really seems to imply that Dunne and Mustache Mountain are moving back to the NXT roster full time

Only Dunne was really implied to be moving to NXT full time. That isn't too surprising. Moving all of British Strong Style at once would kind of dumb. NXT UK has done some solid building, but they have no faces up to their level yet.
