Just got home from the MLS All Star game. I swear, these have 72 of the bizarrest/greatest/best hours of my life. I sat 4 rows behind the Atleti bench, so I was close to the players all game. Simeone is a spectacle himself. 2 minutes in and he was always kicking grass and swearing out Ángel Correa. All of the new signings are incredible. I particularly love João Félix, Hermoso, Llorente and Trippier. I remember Spurs fans saying how bad Trippier was last season, but he has been incredible in the preseason.

Llorente got the MVP. After the game, he was the only one to stick around to sign autographs and again an Atleti rep. saw my jersey and took it to Llorente to sign. So my jersey got signed by Diego Forlán, Koke, Héctor Herrera, João Félix and Marcos Llorente. I'm going to print some of the photos I got and am going to frame it over the weekend. Amazing collectable.

As I posted in the July Wrestling Talk Thread -- after the game, my wife and I are walking through Downtown Orlando and we randomly come across Marcel Barthel and Raúl Mendoza from NXT on the sidewalk of a bar and Barthel randomly stops me to talk about Atleti and Griezmann. I was baffled the entire situation as I've never met him at an NXT event, so that was pretty bizarre.

So TL;DR MLS All Star week recap for me: Monday my wife gets one of my jerseys signed by Diego Forlán and she records a "Hello Edwin!" video from him and later in the afternoon we go to the Men In Blazers show and I get to meet Forlán myself in person and I get to take a photo with him. Tuesday I went to the Skills Challenge and got my jersey signed by Koke, Héctor Herrera and João Félix. Wednesday I went to the All Star game and I got my jersey signed Marcos Llorente and Marcel Barthel and Raúl Mendoza randomly stop me in Downtown Orlando to talk about football.

I think I hate you. ?

Follow-up on the Rooney story

Basically - DC United want to keep him (duh) but they also don't want to block him from returning home next year and basically Rooney's wife wants to move back to England

Rooney to Derby is official as both teams have announced the move.

Will take place at the end of the MLS season

Sky Blue have officially moved their August 18 match against RapinoeReign FC to RBA due to nuclear ticket demand. Not a stretch at all to call this the biggest match in their history, and we're taking a long, hard look at going to this one.

Sarri exchanged Cancelo for Danilo. You should be excited for that signing @Pete. Cancelo is fantastic.

Sarri has also allowed Kean to go to Everton and is rumored of wanting to get rid of Dybala who is now linked with a move to Spurs, Rugani who is linked with a move to Arsenal and Manduzkic with a move to United.

Sarri is clearly doing Napoli's dirty work.

Pretty odd seeing Fekir be linked with several big clubs and he ends up at Betis. Beticos are thrilled with this signing. Hope it pays off for them.

Fucking Spurs get my boy Dybala? I guess it's better than United, who will probably end up with Eriksen.

Di Marzio is reporting Spurs bid 70 M€ and Juve is willing to accept as they want to let him go.

If you believe the UK media, it was more a case of Rooney's Wife (and Kids) are moving back to England no matter what, and he wants to go with them. Although obviously she also wants him to be where she can keep an eye on him, so he doesn't accidentally go to any more brothels, or head out drunk driving with random waitresses and that.

I'm not sure if this plan will work for Derby. Lampard worked out pretty well, but he's a midfield general, and an intelligent man with an A level in Latin. Rooney is more of an energetic ball-chaser than a tactician. Generally speaking, Just Give Me The Ball type players don't do well as coaches because they played on instinct, and it's hard to teach people to do things you always did without thinking. Depends if he's player/manager, or just managing. The Championship isn't too similar to the MLS, in terms of game mentality.

Also, Harry Maguire. Man City wanted to pay £70 million, Man Utd were willing to go to £75 million. Leicester wanted £80 million. So Utd waited until they'd completed all their pre-season and there was six days before the opening fixture, and... gave them the £80 million they wanted. What a fantastic bit of business. If you were going to do that, you should have done it six weeks ago. Now he's going to be unprepared for the first few games. And they've only got Chelsea first, so that won't be crucial points for a top four spot or nothing.

Dani Alves and Juanfran signed with São Paulo.

Filipe Luís signed with Flamengo and there is talks they are also trying to sign Mario Balotelli.

De Rossi signed with Boca and now Cesc Fàbregas is hinting he would like to play in Argentina also.

All these retiring European players going after the Libertadores instead of MLS and CSL.

Arsenal have agreed a fee for Kieran Tierney. 25m

Sad to see him go he’s the best homegrown player we’ve had in ages. Arsenal got a good one.

And after having met the man last week, he's retired:

David Luiz is supposed to be heading to Arsenal, too. David Luiz and Mustafi, together, paired up as CBs, yeah.

Which time?

As far as Rooney going to Derby, it's not often you unveil your big January signing in August. What's going to happen if they have a great start to the season, and then he comes in and they start losing? What if they struggle in September and Ocotber, will everyone be SACK COCU! Being Rooney NOW!

Fantastic signing for LA Galaxy. He didn't turn out to be the player he was once hyped up to become, but he's still young and is definitely a step above a lot of the players in the league.
