WWE 24/7 Title

As PWInsider.com noted earlier, WWE filmed a 24/7 title change at Drake Maverick's wedding, with R-Truth sneaking into the wedding and rolling up Maverick just seconds after he married former Mae Young Classic competitor Renee Michelle.  We are told this was an idea Maverick pitched to the company that WWE loved.

The actual title change was filmed after the official nuptials had taken place, with WWE NXT writer Joseph Belcastro stepping in to play the pastor for the WWE material.

Braun Strowman, EC3, Jeremy Borash and former Impact Wrestling star Cheerleader Melissa  (aka Alyssa Flash) were legitimately part of the Maverick/Michelle wedding party.

Other wrestling personalities in attendance at the ceremony including TJ Wilson, Natalya Neidhart, former LAX member Diamante and Impact star Kiera Hogan.

We are told there was some additional material filmed after the title change, but there's no word whether it will be utilized yet.

Our congratulations, obviously, to Drake Maverick and Renee Michelle!

You know if this was during the Attitude Era 24/7 title they would have replaced Renee with someone that either looked like a porn star or someone that looked like Mama Benjamin.

Thank god we can now do segments with former TNA and indie talent and nobody pitches a fit.

I hope the writers don’t ignore that Spud’s wife through them a softball with that divorce tweet.

Writers??  At this point I'm just 100% convinced Drake and Truth are booking the whole division themselves.

Kind of off topic but have they ever explained why EC3 is always carrying a solo cup.  The only thing I can figure is that he is so miserable working in the WWE that he is drinking his pain away.     Especially strange since the street Profits are actually selling solo cups as their merch.

You will note, however, that he had a blue Solo cup for the wedding, because it matched his suit, you see.

Yeah, and see this is my issue, we're about a month or so into this, and what 4 people have been champ?

This is quickly becoming "just another belt" instead of the insane clusterfuck (in a good way) that it should be.

(EDIT - So they finally have the big title changes spot, but still end up with R Truth.  Joy.)

For a frame of reference - when the WWE first instituted the 24/7 policy on the Hardcore title (Feb 22) to the Mania Hardcore Battle Royal (April 2) - there were THREE title reigns

It was surprisingly pretty prestigious during that time. Like Road Dogg really elevated it in his reign in my eyes. It also didn’t hurt that the matches were good.

That was pre 24/7 rule

The 24/7 rule was announced when Crash Holly was champ and his 22 reigns. And Raven's 27 reigns. And Stevie Richards 21 reigns.

That’s right, and pre-24/7 guys would run back to the ring from the snow/bar/pool to celebrate.

I was looking through the title history to see which Hardcore champs could potentially be 24/7 champs too, i.e. currently active in WWE (both Hardys, and depending on if you consider them active or not - Big Show, Kane, Undertaker) but realised that this isn't R-Truth's first rodeo. He was a 2 time Hardcore champ as K-Kwik, winning and losing it on a couple of house shows.

Did I hear Corey and Renee mention that he's a 9-time champ now on Raw during that mess? Have they overbooked this so much they've already lost count after a month?

Yup - I just watched the WWE video on YT and as soon as Truth wins Cole yells HE IS 9 TIME CHAMP! (which Renee just repeats)

So I think that is more the usual "Cole is an idiot" than them already miscounting

(Or to be fair - the person tracking on Wiki missed a title change)

WWE's website lists it as 8 also, so, yes, Cole is an idiot or was fed wrong info.
