MLW Deserves Its Own Thread

Honestly I don't think Pillman has shit in him as a babyface right now, and DBS would have looked bad if he laid into his partner too hard in their match. Go watch DBS in Bloodsport, he can hold it together. I think it was bad time, bad situation, bad character for both of them.

I see what Smith and Pillman were going for there, but man, was that the wrong type of match to have in front of a crowd that was probably worn down from a long night of tapings anyway. There just wasn't much for them to latch onto with two faces wrestling a clean match.

Dear Lord.  Myron Reed is a fucking douchebag.   I love him like a brother.  I'M NO SYSTEM RAT~!  He actually has a bit of a point differentiating between Cassius Clay and Muhammed Ali.  The match with El Lindaman was kinda strange.  I'm not used to seeing Reed as the heavier and taller guy in the match.  I expected more flippy moves from two super-cruiserweights, but El Lindaman tossed in some not so business exposing power moves in there.

Stronghearts are overdue for a clean win, but I don't think this was the match to do it.  I like Myron Reed as your dickbag Middleweight champion and I also like that the belt is on a MLW Day One guy.

Happy to see that the bullshit between MLW and LA PARK is done (it was probably kayfabe anyway) and he'll be back at FIGHTLAND~!

Mancer is doing his best to sell his Barbed Wire death match between him and Jimmy Havoc, but I am not sold.  I am also not sold on Havoc's match with Pillman at Fightland.  I pretty much hate Jimmy Havoc.

This is supposed to be a NYC Street Fight, right,  Then why are El Intocable's punches the shittiest ones I've seen in a long time?  Oh well.  I guess you can't let your new high profile guy lose his debut match, but Savio was pretty much carrying this guy over the finish line.  I guess they sent in the Dynasty in there to protect Savio via chicanery.  I take it that if MJF rolls to AEW permanently, Gino as the newest member will keep the stable a working trio.

DBS vs. Pillman was a fucking war.  The right man went over.  I am a sucker for sportsmanship so with the way the match ended, I am not so sure that Pillman will turn heel even though it's still a distinct possibility.  If Pillman remains a face, what do you do with him now?  It would almost be slumming for him to go after Reed's Middleweight belt and I am not so sure I'd take the Openweight belt off of a golden meat castle like Hammerstone, especially since the Dynasty definitely is a stable that needs a belt to get over.  Putting Pillman in a program with Fatu would be suicide.   Fatu should kill anyone under 270 pounds and Fatu himself needs as much of a carry as Pillman usually does.

I don't want to be the one to say it, but having a Latino in the Dynasty kind of goes against their WASP country club/frat boy gimmick. Maybe they can reveal Medina's parents as cartel connected so the Dynasty wants him around for street cred.

Latino can be part of the Country Club, esp if light-skinned enough.  It works, I mean they're probably going to make him a Gino Hernandez expy anyways, given Court's ripping off of old World Class stuff.

MLW in general was incredibly good this week.  I love how obnoxious Injustice is- it's rare to see really young guys be this good at getting genuine heel heat.  I know folks are shitting on Jordan Oliver a lot right now, but I think he gets it in particular.  He's gonna be a big star in 5 years.

Mancer/Havoc needs to end.

Pillman/DBS was legit great.   Both had their working boots on, though I wish Pillman was more of an underdog in the match.  It didn't really click for me perfectly until the end.  If DBS had more of the offense would have been a legit NJPW main event quality match, but as it was, still very good.  Pillman should start a year-long redemption arc, leading to another match against DBS Jr where they're equals- but with AEW sniffing around Pillman Jr they may not have the time for that.

Why are they shitting on Oliver?  He's perfect in his role.   EVERYBODY has met that one shit disturbing weasel in a click that makes all the noise for the crew.

I think some folks are still mad about that whole sequence from a few weeks back.  Personally I think it's a little silly, but he's a 20-yr old kid learning what to do and what not to do, and he has the sense to make something out of the controversy.   Oliver's gonna be fine, and he's going to get great.

And Oliver is the most annoying heel in a company that has some great heels.  That's an accomplishment.  MLW has some folks who are really talented at being grating, annoying heels.

It took me a minute to realize Jordan Oliver was the same guy in Injustice. He came across as any early 2000s Jack Evan's when I first seen him in MLW. Going viral is getting him alot more work, he's gonna be really good in a few years he just need more experience. MLW in particular can give him experience working against guys he probably wouldn't be booked against in other Indies.

Updated Fightland Control Center update:

Pillman Jr. must carry the load that is Jimmy Havoc who now requires a valet to come to ringside with his punk ass.

DBS Jr. works Erick Stevens.

Erick working MLW has reminded me how much I miss The Embassy.

Konnan and Injustice in the same segment.. very concise to put the two least valuable players in the fed on the screen at the same time.

Injustice is talented in the ring, they just get too much TV time and the gimmick sucks. Meanwhile, Konnan is a babyface whose revenge porn-centered storyline a few months ago also ended up being pointless.

Also when they announced Injustice at 317lbs, I was unsure if that was for 2 of them or all 3 of them.

Taurus' mask is awesome.

Chandler Hopkins is using Hank Jr.'s "A Country Boy Can Survive" with full vocals. Yeah, Court doesn't give a fuck about paying royalties. If you think the reverse stunner is stupid just wait til you see Hopkins do a rolling jump into the ring into a Flatliner.

Bloodsport Rules match next week with DBS and Gotch! This should be fun.

The barbed wire match won't make you forget Terry Funk vs. Sabu but to see something like it on free TV is pretty awesome. Really bad commercial timing cut it to nothing though. It ends with a really good piledriver, so there's that. Wish they would have at least ripped each other's shirts off.

Tom Lawlor's blinking cowboy hat is amazing, he's on a roll where he makes Dave Hester-looking Dominic Garrini seem interesting by osmosis

Also, I've probably typed this already, Jimmy Havoc & Priscilla look like a couple who met on MySpace.

Havoc did take off Mance's jacket then staplegun it to his back then ripped it off shortly after.
