MLW Deserves Its Own Thread

How many actual Wrestlers have they got left? Kind of feels like soon they're going to have to have the same guys on TV every week because there's only like 12 of them.

it wouldn't hurt their costs much if MLW just became AEW's OVW (or if they became ECW in the late 90s being propped up by the WWF). They already have enough of the AEW roster. They'd just need to make sure tapings are scheduled at the right times (not during AEW PPVs) and that the two companies storylines don't contradict each other since they're both being televised.

Not too long ago, MLW shared a good few guys with Impact. Now, I don't think it's anyone. Swann disappeared from MLW when Sami Callihan did, and Ace Austin hasn't been on MLW for ages now. Also, Impact just picked up Ace Romero after MLW released him (and changed his first name to Acey, to avoid confusion between him and the aforementioned Ace Austin... which MLW didn't do. Just had two guys called Ace).

I was digging a few taping  back from Mexico. I wasn't familiar with most of the talent but I really enjoyed it. It had a different feel. I like alot of the MLW mainstays and the angles a good and consistent  but your right they need new talent . Bring in the CRASH talent more.

They just got a few guys- Killer Kross, Stronghearts on a loan, couple others.

Opera Cup ep had some very good matches with the exception of that Prince of Darkness garbage.   I particularly enjoyed the finish of the DBS - Low Ki match as it showed that DBS is not just some lunkhead that depends on power to win.

Wow, that Barbed Wire match between Mancer and Havoc at the next PPV is an abortion waiting to happen.  Why is it that Jimmy Havoc, hardcore specialist, has been involved in some of the worst hardcore matches I've ever seen and I don't really fault his opponents for it.

Yeah, after watching that abortion of a Prince of Darkness match, I am only giving Mancer the benefit of the doubt. That goes for the Von Erich kid and Filthy Tom too because that was the most hilariously bad brawling I've ever seen. If you were really gonna mail it in, at least spray gas on each other or stick somebody's head in the trashcan.

All the stuff with the Dynasty and the DBS/Low-Ki match was great, though. Dynasty need to be a part of AEW yesterday. Davey Boy will win the Opera Cup and deserves to. He might be the most Canadian talker since Bret* but he can wrestle his ass off.

* I forgot about Lance Storm, but Bret might be a closer comparison

Because he's a shitty wrestler being carried by a lame gimmick?

My question was rhetorical but yeah, that dude sucks.

Has there ever been a Prince of Darkness/Blindfold match that didn’t suck?

I have a suspicion that this question is also rhetorical.

Low-Ki and Davey Boy was great, especially with the finish being a call-back to Low-Ki and Pillman. Loved Davey selling the end as "Holy shit, I can't believe that actually worked!".

If both Havoc and Mance were both gone from the show, I'd be perfectly fine with that. I'd call their hardcore sideshow act stale, but that would imply it was ever worth seeing.

I'm legit amazed the Dynasty haven't been on a larger stage yet. AEW, NXT, whatever... I know MJF alone is a marvelous shithead, but as an act, they're just about perfect. All three look as proficient as anyone else at that level of work (i.e. green, but definitely teachable).

RVE and Lawlor brawling though the streets was, I don't know, half-hearted? Is Marshall injured, legit or otherwise? Seems like he should at least have been out there to cut off Tom's escape.

Oh, and Jordan Oliver has arguably the most slappable face in wrestling.

Mance is perfectly capable of being in hardcore matches with people that know how to work them.  The Respect Match / Bunkhouse Brawl between him and Sami Callihan was the fucking bomb.

The problem is that Jimmy Havoc is lame beyond words.

Hammerstone and Holiday are fucking great because unlike MJF, they know how to be heels without being total dicks.

As much as I love this fed, I feel that Hammerstone and Holiday are wasting their time slumming in MLW and if MJF were a true homie, he'd get them signed to AEW. while the Dynasty gimmick isn't stale.

Considering that AEW is very friendly with MLW I would love to see Dynasty brought in instead of Wardlow.  But hopefully in time that'll happen.  And if it's still a thing I can really go for Contra Unit fucking shit up in the summer.  I am kind of surprised nobody has asked them about it.

Why is Jimmy Havoc getting regular paychecks in wrestling, anyway? I've never seen anyone whose opinion I really respect show me anything he's done worth seeing. I mean, I could see him being useful as a douchebag Hot Topic goth-boy heel manager who can take a bump now and again, but otherwise? Useless. Does he just know where to score good weed for the boys or something? It's not even fun to see him get smacked around.

Honestly, if Tony Khan is serious about keeping AEW around long term, he should be paying Court Bauer to close up shop, bring in his talent, and show-run AEW for him. To my mind, there's too much booking "for the boys, by the boys" in AEW for it to prosper and expand its fanbase. Dark Order has felt like a stale joke from day one, so imagine Contra Unit in that role. Much like Dynasty, I feel like Samael is a big-time talent who just needs to be on a larger stage, and I'll never say no to a huge, nasty Samoan monster wrecking shit.

I hate to say it cause I love the Dynasty, but AEW probably already has enough heel groups.

They'd end up getting cheered straight away, anyhow, though. Dynasty being there as Cody's rich, scumbag buddies the Elite don't like, but put up with because of Cody would have been a great dynamic before the MJF turn.

I feel like the best case hypothetical scenario for Dynasty would have been to be brought in as stooges to an EC3 that was never called up from NXT, though. They'd have had plenty of time to be gotten ready for prime time, and when it was actually time to either turn or call up EC3, MJF could have taken control away and kicked him out. But retroactive fantasy booking is the worst kind of fantasy booking, so never mind.

The only problem is that Court's been doing this forever and he probably wants to hold onto his little piece of the pie. An MLW invasion would rule though. NJ is obviously out of the picture doing that, ROH too, AAA might be an option, but the MLW heels and maybe even some faces coming over and stirring up shit in AEW? Samael throwing fire at other heels and Dynasty in a jealousy angle maybe? That's some fantasy booking I can get behind.

Court's put MLW on hiatus before. I don't think it would be too outlandish to think he'd do it again if the money was right once whatever deals and obligations he has for MLW run their course. I'm sure his crew would appreciate getting on TNT though the back door, as well.

Apparently, ol' Jacob is starting to get the reputation of no-showing Indy events.

Quote

Mance Warner b Josh Alexander to win AAW title when Jacob Fatu no-showed without calling ahead.  This is the second time in recent months Fatu has missed an AAW show (thanks to Case Lowe)
