The baby didn't get eaten. The chick with the pigtails who was with Gov has her. They made a point to show her putting down her gun and slipping away from the fight and that was the last we saw of her.

I think it's bullshit that they would even feint at playing that card.

They didn't show her scooping up the baby because they wanted everyone freaking out over the baby heading into the break. Because there wasn't enough misery porn in this episode as it was.

It seems like a pretty blatant bait and switch is coming down the road.

I honestly liked this little half-season more than any other stretch in the shows run.  I haven't and will never read the comics.

There were Lori wrecks the car level moments (D'eangelo the alcoholic being the worst bit), but I think this show is finally starting to understand what it is.  It's a dumb show with occasionally compelling characters who need to be killed off at their most compelling moments to keep the surprise/suspense needed for a show like this to succeed.

I don't want to turn this into a Game of Thrones style spoiler thread, but you really need to.

I actually like the way they resolved this story arc better than they did in the comics.  Surprised they ended up with that few casualties.  Tv Governor > comic governor and his death was a lot more satisfying this time around.  I can't believe people are being squeamish about a baby being eaten on here.  People get eaten in far more graphic ways in each episode.

I thought people would have flipped out over the little girl getting bit.  Never once believed the baby was killed, though my friends were.  Even after explaining it's a hook for February they didn't believe me and were pissed.  The blood doesn't give any indication the baby was killed.  But hey, I'll just be proven right come February.

I was really sad seeing Hershel go.  As soon as the sword was brought out I knew that was it.  He's been one of my favorite characters, maybe my favorite.  They had to kill somebody that would make people really sad and he was the right guy for that.  Was also sad seeing Lauren Cohan almost in tears on Talking Dead.  Going by what they all said he seems like a helluva guy so I can see how it's hard for them.  It seems corny as all hell to feel such sadness for a fictional character, but it was a rare time where I felt that way.  Not even close to how people freaked out on Twitter, but sad nonetheless.  Really can't think who's going to step up and be the moral center now, I'm sure that will be established a couple episodes into the second half.

As for the Governor, it was a satisfying kill.  I'm glad they didn't have Rick do it as that would have been lackluster to me.  Michonne driving the blade in after last season was really satisfying.  If he was left for dead that would have worked as the zombies were about to get him.  Then the girl that loved him saw who he really was and finished the job.  I would have like him being eaten by zombies, but her finishing the job is a nice way to ensure he doesn't have any chance of coming back.

I can overlook some things about the episode.  The meat shield for Daryl is not one of them.  That was too damn ridiculous.  But overall I thought it was a good episode with memorable scenes to keep interested for February.

Yep, I'm with the "Baby didn't get eaten" crowd.  I loved the look of pride on Hershel's face after Rick gave his speech.  (Even if you could see what was coming)  But I think it would have be even better if they had switched out his speech for the one Rocky gives in Rocky IV.

That's the first thing that jumped to mind when he started talking about change. If he had finished with, "if I can change, and you can change... EVERYBODY CAN CHANGE!" no blood would have been spilled.

I've see it mentioned before that Kirkman himself said they won't kill the baby on the show as its one of the regrets he had writing with the comics.

Darryl's zombie shield was utterly ridiculous, but I can't say I gave a damn as it meant he survived for another episode. Overall I liked this episode. Hated seeing Hershel die, but he was sort of the right character to go here. Also found the Governor's death satisfying.

But of course later he had a 11(?) year old, and his mom eaten alive on page, then later he has another young child get part of his face blown off all in the same issue.

Called the Governor's death sequence halfway through the episode. Otherwise solid stuff all around, though now with the prison destroyed, sort of negates the first 5 episodes. And if anything, not enough babies have been eaten so far.

I'll bite: what was with the zombie vagina in the wall that Tyrese found? Had no idea what that was supposed to be.

In the comics there are two twin boys who've been adopted by both Andrea, and Dale after the twins parents died. following the prison arc one of the twin finds his brother picking at a cat(here it's a rat) he just mutilated himself showing signs that he might be a potential serial killer. Later on the boy kills his twin brother, and sets up a big moment in the series for Carl.

But those characters aren't on this program. So they'll either introduce an unseen child that was in the prison, or they'll make D'Angelo the new serial killer

I'm thinking it will be the girls, with the one that was over-eager to take up arms being the killer.
