A General Grand Theft Auto Discussion Thread

I'm shocked they're not gonna bring GTA 6 out for current generation, then double dip and put it out for next generation. That worked pretty well for GTA 5.

Somewhere in the closed thread is me whining that I shalt not be buying the same game twice. I think that lasted a week before I bought the damn thing again for my XBox One.

Since it sounds like they want to do multiple cities, the technical limitations of the current generation would be very restricting.

Honestly for me, as a primarily single player type, I would rather GTA borrow a little from Yakuza and make more interactive cities as opposed to three cities where you can only enter 10 buildings.

Potomac River crossing traffic is far too shitty for me to enjoy a GTA 6 game set in DC.

The stunt jump covering the length of the National Mall and the race courses on the Reagan National Airport runways would probably be pretty awesome, though.

I assume that such a game would include stealing the GTA version of the Hope Diamond from the gem collection at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.  I'm good as long as such a heist includes using a Hop On / Hop Off tour bus as a vehicle bomb.

After dealing with downtown Austin Saturday night, I realized that if they put those stupid little electric scooters in the next game I may spend the ensuing 5 years doing nothing but running em over with the largest vehicle available.

Melraz and I got on for a bit.  Here's a transcript of every conversation we had

"How do I do this?"  "I dunno."

"What the hell's that?" "I dunno"

It's amazing what you can forget in 8 months.

After five years, I still suck at this game half the time.  Fortunately, the dots continue to get worse and worse.  I did have one of my favorite moments in the game last night, though unfortunately I was solo for this one.

Got into a room and somebody called turboguy was killing a whole bunch of people on his Oppressor.  By the time he got round to me he had dropped that and rolled up on me in a car with his whole CEO org.  I saw em coming and shot the whole lot of em before they even got a shot off.  The rest decided that was enough for em,  but turboguy really wanted his revenge.  It didn't go his way.

I shot him off his Oppressor.  Then I sticky bombed it for his return.  Then I shot him off it again.  Then I Mary Lou'd him a few times.  Then I shot him off the Oppressor again and followed that up by sniping him off the thing when he inevitably returned to it.  A few more Mary Lous sealed the deal.  He abandoned the CEO org, went passive and spent the next five minutes flipping me off while I laughed my ass off.  There was something glorious about pissing off an Oppressor guy that much.  Especially since the only thing I did that was close to aggressive was sitting on that sniper shot waiting for him to get back on his stupid flying motorcycle.  The rest was just taking him out as he came after me over and over.

I miss the days when our crew would play King of the Mountain with other crews on top of the galleria.

Even with dots getting worse and worse, I am afraid that I am so rusty that I would just be an embarrassment if I played GTO.

That and I am too cheap to get a copy for Xbox One and wreck my life in story mode again.

Are you playing story mode or online first? If you're playing story mode, remember to go to the shrink as Michael.

So, GTAV with the Online cheaters Starter pack was on sale for $15, the same price as the vanilla edition, so I got that.  DLed it and played for the first time in years, and ran STRAIGHT INTO THE HAIRCUT GLITCH!  Eh, we'll see if it persists when I fire it back up, I only went 3 missions in before retiring for the night.

EDIT: Also, It may be because I'm so out of practice, but I remember the driving controls being a lot tighter.  I'm spinning out all over the place and used to be able to be pretty on point.  It almost feels like GTAIV.

Holy shit, you have no idea how chaotic and ADHD this game feels coming off the back of the relative tranquility of RDR2 and The Witness (last two games I played).

I felt like I was going to have a seizure those first few missions playing as Franklin all the while Lamar's blagging my head with his jibes. I need to find a safe space

Not that many people here would NEED it, but if you have a Twitch Prime account (basically you have Amazon Prime and link it to a Twitch Account), one of the Prime Loots this month is $1.25 Million for GTA Online (and 15% bonus on Shark Cards).

So I got sucked into Online big time. Now I'm trying to figure out how to make money efficently, and seem to have chosen poorly going with the Biker Business instead of the CEO.

What system are you playing on?

When ever I wanted to make money, I'd just do missions and heists. The Biker stuff is pretty high maintenance, high risk low reward. Smuggling with a Hangar is a bit better. The CEO stuff is OK, but (like a lot of the business stuff) you need backup, and hopefully an empty lobby, to make a big sale.

I'm on PS4.  Looking over some stuff, most of the big money stuff everyone says to do with Invite Only lobbies to get around greifers (and man, I have run into a bunch). Although most of the heavy greifing I see is in LS proper, and pretty much no one goes to Blaine County.  MIssions for me have been hit or miss, as some I ran into where people do too much greifing than actually completing the objectives (I've grown to hate Repo)

On PS4, you should try to hook up with @PetrolCB (his PSN name is the same as his board name), because he used to live in GTA5 Online. I don't play it any more. I think @Cristobal still does, but he's on California time and I'm on European, so we're not on our PS4s at the same time any more.

Yeah. I know i'm late to the  party on it, but it's alright.

Right now, I'm finding the way to jack myself up bank account wise, now that i got a warehouse, is just doing a bunch of 2 crate buys, loading up my warehouse to max, then unloading it all once I get on a low-pop lobby.  That's netting me 500k a session, so once I get my Auto Warehouse, I should be set.

I missed the announcement a few weeks ago that they're apparently opening the casino soon, nearly 6 years after the game came out.

I'm really curious to see how exactly that works out, as much from a legal perspective as anything else.  I can't see how they can allow gambling with cash, since you can sink real money into that via shark cards.  I'm no legal expert, but that seems like it opens them up to illegal gambling charges, especially since there's so many kids playing the game.

I'm wondering if they're gonna add casino chips, or something like that, as a secondary form of currency, sort of like a reverse gold in RDR2.  I'm also curious if this is all part of their attempt to beta test a different economic model prior to GTA6, in their never ending obsession with making sure people can't find ways around buying the damn shark cards.

I think they would probably follow some sort of F2P model where you get X dollars per day.  If you can gambleusing Shark Cards, that's opening a shit show.

Which it probably will be anyway, since you could easily have a group of friends playing and throwing games so one person could make a lot of money and then distribute it to the group.

@Raziel I would stick to solo sessions and/or spawn out in Sandy Shores and then do solo missions.  It's been a while since I played, but there were a few missions that had good payouts for a few minutes of work, especially on 2X $ and RP weekends.
