Yeah THAT makes sense. Kawai? You can tamper all you like to get Paul George, but Milwaukee DON'T YOU DARE say you want to lock up you superstar with the max. What a joke. . . Brian Fowler
I love Dame, but "Kobe won Shaq those rings" is the worst, most wrong take in NBA history.
Zimbra
Daryl Morey causing an international incident while trying to get fired was definitely not on my NBA preseason bingo card.
Jiji
Man, that South Park episode got even more timely all of a sudden. Probably not the smartest timing for him to drop that but he said nothing wrong.
Brian Fowler
And China appears to be blacking out Rockets games now. Wow
Kuetsar
Yeah the Chinese don't fuck around with politics. In a vacuum Morey shouldn't be fired, but the Rockets might have to appease China. Best case for the Rockets is probably a lengthy suspension. Really any punishment of Morey would be letting China hinder his freedom of speech(in effect), but are the Rockets going to walk away from that $$$. I would imagine the league office will be getting involved soon, if they haven't already. . .

Especially given that the Rockets have been a big deal in China since Yao (what I read earlier today said they are currently the second most popular NBA team there, behind Golden State) It's a lot of money to lose. Morey did nothing wrong and he completely fucked up at the same time.

The Chinese government (among other things) is actively committing genocide by attempting to exterminate an ethnic minority (the Ughirs) through forced sterilization of women and killing the existing population. Good on Morey and shame on the contempible toady owner of the Rockets and the spineless eunuchs who run the league for rushing to keep that dirty blood money flowing.
Jrag
Tsai has weighed in... predictably. https://twitter.com/SopanDeb/status/1181054196000395264?s=20 Since we are living in the weirdest timeline I can only assume this is somehow going to end with Daryl Morey: NY Knicks GM. supremebve
This is one of the worst looks of all time. Seriously, Morey basically wished that people got the freedom that they're fighting for, and the NBA's stance seems to be, "Fuck their freedom, look at all this money." It is a terrible look for a league that tends to encourage their employees to speak out against these types of things.
