MARCH 2019 WRESTLING TALK.

Recommended Posts

The Smoking Gunns - Eh, okay. They were a solid team in a thin company.

The New Age Outlaws - Yep.

Um, what's the third? Billy and Chuck? Voodoo Kin Mafia, AKA NAO but old and shooty?

Honestly, for Billy Gunn's underrated level- it should say something that far from just being underrated: People consider a "good tag team specialist" someone who was in one memorable tag team. If they're in two, they're considered one of the greatest tag team workers of all time.

Billy Gunn had three tag teams you could consider memorable- that should make him one of the all-time best tag workers.

Arn Anderson wasn't in two memorable tag teams, he was in two unspeakably awesome tag teams (with Ole and with Tully), and two other memorable ones (with Zybsco and with Bobby Eaton). Plus tags or six mans with Flair & co as a Horseman and with Austin & Rude in the Dangerous Alliance.

If being in multiple good regular teams is the mark of a good tag wrestler, Alex Shelley has MCMG and the Timesplitters, James Storm has AMW and Beer Money, and Christopher Daniels has SEX and The Addiction. And SCU.

Went to the Wheeling house show last night. Decent show with a Main of Elias vs. Kofi.

I know he gets shit on a lot here for his work(and I'm not saying it's right or wrong) but had the chance to meet Corbin last night and he couldn't have any been any nicer. There were 5 or 6 of us having some beers outside about an hour before the show adjacent to where everyone parks. Baron pulls in, gets out and spends 5-10 minutes just bullshitting with us. Joking about how we have to keep booing him inside so he can stay employed and encouraging us to give him the finger instead if anyone loses their voice. Talked video games and colleges too(one of the girls in our group brought her daughter who is graduating from high school in a couple of months). Came back out after the show and spent 10 more minutes talking with us, thanked us for the middle fingers(we all had aisle seats) and some more bullshitting before he hit the road. Couldn't possibly have been any friendlier or more down-to-earth.

Apart from that time he apparently had a spat with a veteran, Corbin always comes across well on Twitter, seems like someone who's pretty cool in real life. Last night he tweeted about giving his dog prime beef for the dog's birthday, so he's ok by me

is this Mary-Kate Anthony person someone i should know?  I don't understand how a long-lost match pops up in the hands of a random fan.

Long time ringside photographer in the North East, did all the ringside photos for ECW, RoH, Evolve, D-Gate USA, CZW, and stuff when WWE comes to town.  Considering the people she knows and has interacted with throughout her career, it's very possible she somehow came apon the tape.

In the original twitter thread, I thought I saw that she made mention of Bret giving her a fuckload of tapes for her to convert for his personal archive.

Aa I said recently in another thread, arm's teams with Jerry Stubbs and maybe Matt Borne was as good if not better than his (relatively short lived) team with Tully.

Dave has said that Bret had a copy of the match. It makes sense that the match came from him, given how much of a lockdown the company keeps that match.

@Peck it looks like you’ve been frozen in time with the same expression and all these wrestlers are coming up, wondering what you’re looking at, then Big E is like ‘fuck it let’s go with it’ in his quirky way and just pretends to be a statue too.

Jokes aside, very jealous of all your pics with wrestlers that you share on here, lucky man.

Yeah Billy & Chuck were an awesome heel team, the match w/ Hogan & Edge is greatness. Super memorable run which thinking back, in comparison to todays teams, seems crazy that they weren't even together a full year.

I fully expect Hart/McGee to magically appear on the Hidden Gem on the Network next week

BTW - Colt Cabana (who along with Rob Naylor) pestered WWE the most to find a copy did a video about the whole thing

BTW - the word going around is that on tonight's episode of Last Week Tonight (John Oliver's HBO show) - the main topic is focused on the WWE and the wrestlers being "independent contractors"

Assuming it is - HBO usually uploads the segment the following day on Youtube

Didn't Phil also try and get a copy while he was there?

At that moment in time - I figure you can interchange Colt and Punk interchangeably

AFTER ROUSEY KEEPS THE TITLE, BECKY TO AEW CONFIRMED!!!!

But seriously to tie in to earlier in the thread a little bit. Cody does seem to be doing his best to not poke the WWE bear as much as possible

Someone asked him if they would run Mania week next year and he said AEW would never run Mania as "that is the domain of the WWE"

That being said - never is a really long time in wrestling

I have always considered myself terribly un-photogenic so this makes me laugh. I watched Big E and Kofi take about 30-40 selfies each with fans and they looked purposefully goofy in every single one. That's a gift.
