Star Wars Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker

I think Palpatine sith ghost would have worked better than Snoke in the first place. As for the prequels, I like Revenge of the Sith a TON more than most people, but the other two are flawed at best.As much as I hate TLJ, I will concede it is a better made movie, even if it has no soul. As I said in a couple of threads now, the prequels and the Disney triology(so far) are the exact opposite of each other. The prequels have a awesome story(that was botched in the execution), and this trilogy have a shitty to non-existent plot and are very well made.  I will say that I think Rogue One is better than either TFA or  TLJ by a large margin.

why does everyone assume "Rise of Skywalker" refers to Rey? I mean, Kylo Ren IS a Skywalker. Him taking a full on face turn and saving the Resistance makes as much sense as anything else.

for the record, i think TFA was acceptable, if a bit too New Hope remakeish, and TLJ was awesome outside that Casino Planet chase scene.  Rogue One is by far my favorite of the new flicks tho.

Again, I think the Rise of Skywalker is like what we got at the end of the Dark Knight Rises. Just like the Batman is just a symbol, Skywalker can be just a symbol, a beacon of hope in a Galaxy where there can sometimes be none, and a reminder that there is always someone fighting for the greater good.

Even if Rey isn't a Skywalker by blood, I think she takes up that mantle anyway to be the beacon of hope and the warning to those who do wrong.

Some toys are out labeled

Sith troops

have been spotted out there, so that can definitely be a revealed plot point.

Also, Mark Hamill retweeted this awesomeness

To carry over the discussion from the upcoming movies thread...   basically my whole thing is this trilogy has no real beginning/middle/end or at least I can't see how they get there without it being convoluted.  I feel J.J.  has his work cut out for him.   I'm not in the camp that TFA or TLJ are "bad" movies,  I just believe it would all work much better if there was someone mapping out exactly where this was going before J.J. started filming TFA.

The shareholders would have had fits if they waited a second longer than they did to get a new movie into production after buying the franchise.

J.J.'s supposed push for practical effects and using discarded designs from the OT were cost/time saving measures.  It's hilarious to me that his first Star Wars movie was so much more mercenary BTS than his Star Trek movies, when he supposedly didn't care at all about THAT franchise, but loves Star Wars.

I do hope she has a bigger role in this one. She's woefully underused.

Didn't she die in in the last film? I mean I'm good with her returning, especially if they pull from that mini-series where she is basically the damn terminator in Storm Trooper form.

I think the dark side Rey stuff may just be a vision.

This. They don't have the time to deal with a newly heel Rey, and she is clearly training for the inevitable showdown with Kylo going off some of the scenes we have seen her in.

Everything I hate about the science of lightsabers is perfectly encapsulated in Dark Rey's Nokia flip-saber.

And yeah, it's not a clone.  My guess is that Rey will go to Dagobah to train and take the Test of the Dark Tree like Luke did in ESB.
