They will officially be announced today 2019 (This year) Elimination of August Waiver Trade Deadline (There is only one trade deadline now) All the stupid All Star Game changes that mean nothing but ESPN thinks were worthy of the headline 2020 Active roster expands to 26 players - 13 pitcher max (would be 14 in postseason) Three batter minimum for pitchers (I am sure more details will come for this in the official announcement) Sept rosters will be only 28 Players have to be designated as position or pitcher and position players would only be allowed to pitch in extra innings. (Plus can qualify as a 2 way player if they throw at least 20 innings and get 20 starts in the field/DH - call this the Ohtani rule) Notes The pitcher max roster is still being negotiated. There is talk that it would be 13 through August and then 14 starting in Sept Re: the three batter minimum Quote The three-batter minimum for relief pitchers had been discussed earlier this offseason as a means of reducing constant pitching changes in the mid and late innings, thereby speeding up the game. The deal on this involves the union not agreeing to it explicitly but, rather, agreeing not to oppose it if Major League Baseball wishes to implement it in 2020, which they could do unilaterally since they first proposed the change this year. The union’s reluctance to give the rule its full support, one suspects, is no doubt a function of some of its members — lefty specialists, most notably — being likely to suffer in the job market as a result. At the same time, agreeing not to oppose it, Passan reports, was the price of getting Major League Baseball to not implement a pitching clock this season, as it had the right to do if it wanted. Players hate the idea of the pitching clock. I'd rather roll the dice and get the replica helmet full of nachos again. Still the worst thing I bought and ate at a Cubs game. I had a pulled pork sandwich with cole slaw on top from Brother Jimmy's in Yankee Stadium once. That was delicious. I was pretty good. Although it's one of those things where it cost at least $10 and when we cook a pork shoulder at home the whole thing costs around the same amount. I don't have the same issue with hot dogs since the only time I'll eat one is at a ballpark. It would be nice to see ballparks upgrade their pretzels from the standard super pretzel to Ben's Pretzels or Auntie Annes pretzels or something similar. There is a dude that vends pretzels in the parking lot that are shaped like Rollie Fingers' mustache that are HELLA delicious. One of the best pretzels I have ever eaten, if sadly way smaller than it should be. He might do the lots at other yards as well, but I caught him twice at Hohokam. So it is 10 additional years to the 2 he was already committed to LAA.
