Haven't done this one yet. What was so bad?

The problem is that you start off from an ambush and it is very hard to fight out from under your enemies whether you are a vampire or a normal player race.  I finally had to resort to turning ethereal, sneaking out to the front of the house and then using Dawnbreaker, Auriel's Bow, and guerilla tactics to beat the vampires and the gargoyles.

I wish there were a way to disable or uninstall some of this Creation Club stuff, but it is bundled into the upgrade.

My climb to Kingpin of Skyrim  continues apace. Ulrich rules thanks to me and I lead the companions,  so that's  ground forces controlled. I'm  grandmaster of a fully restored thieves guild, so that is supply dealt. Just got the Dark brotherhood under control, so there's the black ops. Now for the college of winter hold and the bards to control magic  and propaganda and I'm set.

Back from my Skyrim hiatus to grind a bit more.  Running around Falkreith right now.  Helped the townspeople with their troubles, nearly died killing the vampire elder related to the Falkreith royal family, and got hit in the feels while doing the Ill Met By Moonlight.  Wasn't able to exploit the glitch that nets you both rewards so I settled for the Ring of Hircine since I plan on eventually joining the Circle and temporarily becoming a werewolf.  It seemed fitting to allow Sinding to live in exile and let the shame of his deeds and the curse of lycanthropy be his punishment.

Sparing him was not an easy decision since it meant killing three fellow Khajiit who were there to hunt Sinding at Bloated Man's Grotto and not avenging the murder of Mathies and Indara Caerellia's daughter.

I am not terribly bummed about not getting the Savior's Hide.  It has good stats, but I prefer to have armor with a more urban texture for my Khajiit and Savior's Hide looks much better on the human models, IMO.   I looked fabulous in it when I played as the iconic male Nord barbarian during my first run of this game on 360.  Items of Foresworn armor compliment the Savior's Hide fairly well, but I prefer how it looks with Stormcloak Officer's glove and boots when I ran my Nord (CLAWS AND SPIKES~!).

Enhance your Stormcloak Officer's gloves with the Fortify Unarmed enchantment (you can learn it by disenchanting the Gloves of the Pugilist found on Gian the Fist in the Riften Ratway) for the full Wolverine effect and make sure you are an Arcane Blacksmith so you can continue to improve your gear after you make it magical.

I have absolute control of  skyrim now. Alduin has bent the knee(and by that mean deader than disco), I crushed the dawn guard unmercifully and rule the vampires. All the major guilds are under my rule and I have all Daedric artifacts under my control. All that's  left is to teach Miraak who the true Dragonborn is. I AM THE KINGPIN OF SKYRIM.  ???

Well, I didn't expect the simple act of going to look for lost dog would segue into another Daedric artifact quest.  At least it will take me to the western edge of Skyrim so I can do this thing for Meridia before settling up with Clavicus Vile.

I really need to do Dawngard after I get done with the Thieves' Guild stuff.  This is like the third time I have run afoul of a big ass vampire coven.  I need the undead killing goodness of Auriel's Bow in addition to Meridia's sword.

Couple of things : Dawnguard is a great quest line all the way around. Not only does it get you Auriel's Bow, but one of the best companions in the game in Sareena(sp). Also, imo, the Assassin's guild quest line is worth doing simply for Shadowmere aka best horse. I can't count how many low level grunts he has hooked to death. He can also absorb a great deal of damage and will reappear if he dies. Quality.

I screwed over Maven's business partner so I already have a named horse (Frost) who is pretty badass.  The fucker and I fought off three cave bears and won.  I was going to honor the deal that Louis Letrush made with Sibbi Black-briar until that fight went down and then I was like "Nah.  I'm keeping this horse."

Shadowmere was a quality horse in Oblivion, so I have no doubt he's worth getting in this game as well. I may end up smashing the Dark Brotherhood instead of joining them, though.  I am still salty about them sending an assassin after me when I was just 6th level.  It was a hard fight, but I left that asshole lying in a ditch on the road to Whiterun.  I also have bad blood with the Brotherhood going all the way back to Morrowind when I was a loyal Morag Tong hitman.

Only JT will understand what I am talking about here but I was watching a random Mr. Fruit video and in it - he randomly brings up that he has played Skyrim a lot over 5 different playthroughs and has still not met the Greybeards

In my very first playthrough on 360, I was 30th level before I finally decided to go to High Hrothgar.  My Nord made it through the end of the Companions questline with only one Shout to my name.

When I played Morrowind, I was the Grandmaster of the Morag Tong and ran the Thieves' Guild before I started the first quest of the main story line.

It is so abysmally easy to get sidetracked.

I guess I should also plug StraightUpIrish's Skyrim's Hardest Decisions vids on YouTube for your background lore immersion needs.  He gives both moral compass and meta reasons why he thinks you should go with one option over the other in the vast number of decision tree quests found in this game.

He also plays a Khajiit, so that somewhat sways my opinion.

Fucking Falkreith.

Not only has my trip segued into retrieving Clavicus Vile's axe, but oh by the way the Temple of Meridia is nearby so may as well go purify her temple and get her beacon out of my inventory.

I totally took the scenic route to get to Solitude during my Nord playthrough back in the day.  I could've just swam to Solitude from Morthal.

On the plus side, I brought Meeko the dog home to Whiterun and Lydia fell in love with the guy, so he is our latest house pet along with Thistle the rabbit.  Lydia HATES Meeko.  It is very funny.

My new favorite book in the game is now Ahzirr Traajijazeri for obvious reasons.

After much screwing around, I have finally completed the Break of Dawn quest and now own Dawnbreaker.  I also ran afoul of the Saints bandit gang from the Balance of Power quest (Saints & Seducers creation club content) while going to deal with Sinding.  I sent the pet Elytra to Hendraheim.  I hate Hendraheim since you can't have a steward there, so it is now the place where I dump all of the creation club pets I don't want to live at Breezehome or travel around with me.

I will probably go ahead and track down the Seducers just so I can get this fucking quest out of my queue and unlock Madness Ore / Amber smithing.

When I get home I will probably pass out and then play long enough to finish the Clavicus Vile quest.

Well, I may have encountered a game breaking bug that may force me to flush this playthrough.  I went down to the Falkreith barracks for a mini-quest that is part of the whole Fishing thing, and the werewolf, Sinding, from Ill Met By Moonlight was back in his cage despite him breaking out during the quest.

Once I left the barracks, Sinding followed me everywhere in werewolf form and aggroed everything onto me as well as himself.  When I emerge from the barracks, everyone in town attacks and either they kill me, or I murder everyone and earn an astronomical bounty.  Restarts have not worked and my saves only go back so far.

If I have to go all the way back to start, I may hold off of Skyrim for a week and play some Cyberpunk 2077 instead now that the game is allegedly fixed.

Did you somehow get two Dawnbreakers? Apparently that was a glitch when I was playing. I did that quest and got two Dawnbreakers. Have no clue how but two of them were in my inventory.

Nope, no dual Dawnbreakers.  I tend to run into pathing bugs and glitches with NPCs than I do with items or anything.  The only bug I have run into with an item is when my bowstring for certain bows (Imperial and Dwarven) will sometimes get caught under my arm and I can't fire an arrow.  I usually have to quit and reload the game when that happens because my bow does not fix itself by stowing it away and drawing it again

Well, it looks like my save is FUBAR and Invulnerable Sinding will not go away, but fear not!  I have reinstalled without the CC upgrade and am only installing the Creation Club stuff that I like in addition to the stuff that already comes with the Anniversary Edition.  So I am now running all of the Alternative Armors and Redguard Elite Armaments in addition to Goldbrand, the Bow of Shadows, Shadowfoot Sanctum, and the Bittercup quests.

I only included Alternate Armors and Redguard Elite Armaments so that I can dress up all of the mannequins in Shadowfoot and because Leather Scout Armor is pretty awesome and appropriate for a Khajiit to wear in the damnable harsh climate (GAME IMMERSION~!).  I downloaded the mods that came with four armor pieces because I wanted complete sets so that my OCD would not go haywire.  Go figure.

I also installed Hendraheim so that I can dump the Elytra pets there once I am done with Saints & Seducers as S&S comes standard with the Anniversary edition.  If the bugs are out of sight, they are also out of mind.

I thought about installing Dawnfang / Duskfang, but those swords will just sit in the arsenal of Shadowfoot or one of the Hearthfire homes once I am dual wielding Goldbrand / Dawnbreaker and a Golden Dagger from Saints / Seducers.  I'll probably end up installing it anyway so that I can toss the Blades armor on a mannequin and have Akaviri katanas live in the game.

I am happy beyond words that annoying Pets of Skyrim, the zombie shit, and that dumb Bloodchill Manor mod are not in my game.  No damned couriers annoying me every five minutes.  I should only get courier visits for when Hendraheim is available and when the Jarl of Falkreith summons me.

It should not take me long to get back to where I was and I will remember to save prior to doing and completing Ill Met by Midnight.  Hopefully I won't run into the Sinding bug again or the annoying bug that breaks the Bow of Shadows.  There are better bows in the game than the BoS, but free invisibility is nothing to sneeze at.  It became quite the crutch when I started doing Thieves' Guild quests.

As much as I hate the Grey Fox cowl quest, it provides an excuse to visit and raid a Barrow to unlock another word for the Become Ethereal shout so I will probably install that as well.  If I don't I will probably forget to go there to unlock the word.

I'm working night shift starting on Monday night and ending on the 13th, so I won't feel like doing anything but eating gaming and sleeping for the next eight days.  I'm taking three days off after I get done with graveyard to re-adjust my body clock back to dayshift, so there will be plenty of time for gaming and maybe some yard work.

I looked it up and the way to get the dual Dawnbreakers is at some point in the fight with that guy, use a Shout that has exploding or push back power or a Fireball spell or something like that. It'll knock Dawnbreaker off of the alter but a replacement will spawn where the old one was.

Now that I think about it, I used Unrelenting Force a bunch when I was fighting that boss and that's probably how I got Dawnbreaker to glitch and duplicate.

I'll have to remember that, JT's just about got me ready to add to my 1900+ hours (across two versions) with his review of the newer stuff. I usually end up god-moding that fight at some point because dude can cast cold spells from halfway across the planet and kill you.

See I usually have one really old save just for this reason

HOWEVER - there was no way I would go that far back to replay everything.

But yeah - I see me revisiting Skyrim this summer

For the Dawnbreaker fight, I try to make use of Bane of the Undead or Guardian Circle scroll (if I have one) to freak the wraiths out and then just go straight for the necromancer.  I tend to have enough souls absorbed to unlock the Elemental Fury shout at the word wall outside of Meridia's temple.   I use the EF shout and then I go in fist and fire at Malkoran after using the EF shout to boost my strike speed.   I use EF first because I am a dual wielding Khajiit Nightblade (Stealth / Illusion specialist) right now, so a different shout might be better for a different build.

If I were using my old Nord Berserker build, I'd lead off with Marked for Death.  I've never used Unrelenting Force in this particular fight, so I have yet to encounter the duplicating glitch for Dawnbreaker.

I try to quaff as many different resistance potions as possible before use the scroll.  If you don't have an anti-undead scroll, use any fire magic scrolls that you have, preferably an AoE like Firewall so that you can damage all of the enemies.

By the time the scroll's magic wears off, I have usually killed the necromancer and offing the remaining wraiths is academic.  Sometimes bad things happen, but that is to be expected and why you took a save before the rumble.

Nearly back to where I was before the Sinding bug.  I'm parked in front of Haemar's Shame about to do the Mask of Clavicus Vile quest.... again.....

After that, it will be werewolf adventure time again.  When I get home from work in four hours, I'll try to get in some gaming before I pass out for the day.  Only three more nights of graveyard to go.

Is it me or do Bolund, the mill owner in Falkreith, and Solaf, the proprietor of Gray Pine Goods in Falkrieth, look like the lost brothers of Greg the Hammer Valentine?

Or maybe they are Valiants?  I'm not sure.
