W.O.W. - Women of Wrestling (New Incarnation)

Recommended Posts

watching WOW because it's just before the Chris Colt DSOTR replay..

not sure if any wrestling crowds could be trusted with thundersticks

Adriana Gambino is one hell of Mob Wives name

I'm sure they're not usually this vague about the whole "First Guatemalan to graduate with a 4.0" thing because obviously they don't mean first Guatemalan in like the entire world to do that?

The Dojo Defenders? meanwhile.. there's a twin tag team where they have different colored hair on the other side

that's a cool looking tag team finisher by Miami's Sweet Heat

Hot opening seg with the Beast and Abilene. I had thought Beast was getting her shot this week but I guess not yet, though we never find out who Abilene's opponent would be instead.

Reina/Aussie ended up pretty good. Thought Aussie would end up overcoming her but not to be. Liked Gambino at ringside. Not sure of the taping cycle in regards to her injury but had me wondering if she'd stay on TV in a role like that.

Mighty Mights vs Brat Pack was awesome. Some unique moves there and a fast pace. Lil J continues to shine and Gigi looked good here too. Spice was on fire throughout.

Another fun tag in Miami Sweet Heat vs the debuting Dojo Defenders. The Fab Jab always rules. Fun post-match with the Mother Truckers as well.

Main event was a nice trios match that had been setup previously but by far the shortest match of the night. Sad to see the heel team start to implode afterwards.

Goldie Collins/Beast was far more competitive than I expected. Thought Beast would steamroll right through her but nice showing from the newbie.

Good stuff from Stephy Slays and Genesis. With all of the issues with Exile, Genesis really needed that win.

Nice victory for Chantilly Chella too. And liking that the post match antics furthered the issues with Holidead and Chainsaw. And then we get the surprise of the returning Siren turning on Holidead! Things are getting juicy

If I were the members of Team Spirit, I would be beating Ariel Sky's ass lol

The main was typical Abilene chicanery. lol Will be interesting to find out if the thing with Jessie is a new regular thing or just a case of "the enemy of my enemy"

Goldie Collins rules. Glad to see her still get some shine even as a victim of the Beast. Laughed at her taking a powder to the outside and asking if the Beast has had her shots

Love to see a spotlight on Genesis, another that's always a highlight every time. Also good to see Stephy pop back up even if it is almost always to get crushed.

Chella beating Chainsaw relatively quick was surprising but I liked the post-match and return of Siren.  Shorter matches this week but a lot of solid storyline/character work.

Enjoyed the main event. Didn't expect Abilene to pick a legit challenger but was a pretty awesome champion vs lower card babyface type match while it lasted. Didn't see the ending coming as I thought the Jessie Jones saga ended, but the feud continues.

Yea, was surprised that Jessie is still after Americana but she and Amber would make a good unit with Abilene

Always good to start with another classic Miami Sweet Heat promo seg.

Coach Campanelli looks fantastic in her new gear, pretty much dominated Ariel in a quick opener.

Surprised to see the Classmaster pull the upset on GI Jane, finish was sudden out of nowhere.

Kandi Krush came off great in her backstage seg with Aussie.  The Brat Pack is always a blast.

the setup for Jessie Jones needing a partner vs Santana & Americana was weird, as though Amber O'Neal no longer existed.

Really fun tag title main event as the Mother Truckers vs Miami Sweet Heat feud continues on. Holly getting launched shoulder first into the mat looked brutal. Laurie was an mvp here.  Nice chaotic closing of the show.

Hot start going straight to the Americana/Santana vs Jessie with Abilene tag. No longer a mention of Amber still. Fun match that looked like the heels would end up not getting along but Abilene still gets the win anyways.

Babyface Holidead rules and made a nice team with Chantilly. Chainsaw always finding a way to try and kill Foxy Fierce, made for a great post-match angle introducing Foxy's sister, Roxy Fierce!

Really dug the build up for Kandi vs Aussie. Saw them going back and forth on Twitter earlier hyping this up so I was looking forward to it. They delivered a good match as expected.

Great main event with Penelope Pink one of the few who matches up somewhat even with the Beast and can hang for a longer match like this. Awesome looking finish with the super powerbomb.

Decent opener with the champ and Jessie vs the All American Girls. Knowing WOW, this isn’t the last of Abilene and Jessie.

Really liked the tag match between Chantilly/Holidead vs Chainsaw/Siren. Lots of wild action. And welcome to WOW, Roxy Fierce.

Nice package to highlight the growing issues between Aussie and Krush and liked that both women came in ready to fight. Good back and forth match that felt like they really didn’t like each other. Not surprising that the numbers game took Aussie out though. Top Tier are looking like the team to beat.

Beast/Penelope was what we would expect and it was good to see them get some time as WOW can be skimpy once it comes to the main event of the show. Penelope is definitely WOW’s MVP. I think she has chemistry with almost everyone. And we get a Teri Gold shout out! That Beast Bomb from the top was killer.

The opening trios match was nice and competitive and probably the best Sugar and Spice have looked yet. Cool to see Stephy on the winning side.

Exodus and Ice Cold were having a pretty decent little match before Genesis inserted herself into things and we got the set up for the triple threat, which should be cool.

Gloria Glitter is just the best. Pep Riley looked pretty good in there with her but poor Team Spirit can't catch a break. lol

The main event was perfectly fine although Samatha Smart once again escapes a beatdown.

Great trios opener with the best pure babyface trios and best pure heel trios. I was surprised to see the faces win but always nice to see Stephy win one and the Mighty Mights have been impressive. Sad for Lil J though to be taking the falls and potentially getting kicked out of the Brat Pack as she became my fav of the group, but she would probably excel as a face as well.

Exile vs Ice Cold was a weird setup and fun with Genesis' antics. I was hoping Genesis getting the match stopped was going to lead to them reuniting as a unit but instead more in fighting. Reminds me of the same thing they did with IQ Superior that led to GI Jane getting kicked out.

Aussie's unseen partner request had me assuming she went to Tormenta based on who took her to the limit in the past, which could be cool.

Gloria looked good in pretty much squashing Pep. Coach putting the bucket on her head was amusing. Solid basically handicap main event win for Tiki and the Tongas.

And then apparently sometime since then, sadly shit hit the fan somewhere;

The Tonga Twins are pissed about something and have quit WOW.

Spoiler

Image

Update: Vickie Lynn McCoy is also done with WOW following the Tonga Twins out, writing

"I wanted everyone to know I am no longer with WOW.
Speaking up = Released.
Especially after what happened to the @tongatwins, I can no longer be silent. But NOW..... #fuckwow. Exploitation does not = empowerment"

Princess Aussie, Wrecking Ball, & Reina del Rey are standing against the Tongas, accusing them of being let go for bullying and injuring others.

Man this is wild. I've been hoping the mainstream wrestling media started shining some attention on WOW but not like this. Hate to see the wrestlers going at it like this. I will say that the Tonga Twins are not coming off favorably the more they respond

Liked the set up on the main with Aussie confronting Reina and Gambino. I was a little confused as I assumed Gambino and Reina would be tagging, not bringing in another mystery partner.

Animal Instinct make a pretty good team and they had another decent match with the champs.

When Americana came out solo, I knew the jig was up lol Nice match between her and Penelope and I look forward to Penelope getting her hands on Abilene.

Poor Team Spirit. Them girls just need to hang it up at this point lol I thought Ariel would be secretly sabotaging Top Tier but instead she’s gonna be fighting for her freedom with a match against Coach instead and lol at a “freedom match”. You gotta love WOW

Dreambroken called it with the Tormenta reveal as Aussie’s partner. Perfect partner to go up against the likes of Chainsaw and Reina. Wonder if this is a new start for Tormenta.

Nice promo from Santana to help set up the main event. Acknowledging her past as a former world champion was a nice touch.

The Heavy Metal Sisters vs Spring Break 247 was a good show in contrasting character types and a nice tag match. Sandy Shore is probably one of the more underrated WOW wrestlers and I’ve been a Fury fan forever.

I love that the Exile 3 way began with Exodus and Ice Cold beating up Genesis. It’s what she deserves lol Some really good action and sequences in this match. Pleasantly surprised to hear the crowd behind my girl, Ice Cold.

As expected, a good match between Sweet Heat and the oddball team of Chantilly and Holidead. Love the old school ending with Lana using her purse to help Sweet Heat win.

Main event was some good stuff and of course Abilene and Jessie pull some mess to retain lol Some really nice chemistry between Santana and Abilene. And yea, just where was Americana? Lol

It seems the majority of the roster were standing up for WOW against the Tongas now. The Tonga Twins say they will be making a statement soon.

Last week, my DVR decided not to record so I had to wait for the youtube upload and watch the 'just matches' version. I was surprised to see Animal Instinct get another tag title shot but they continue to look good as a team. Penelope/Americana was good stuff. Coach pretty must destroyed Sasha Sparks.  And the main event delivered with Aussie & Tormenta making a nice team.

Onto this week, Abilene/Santana felt rather out of nowhere but I liked the promo setup for it a lot. Once I saw Jessie Jones was coming out with Abilene, I knew Santana had no chance, but a good match regardless.  Opening tag between Heavy Metal Sisters & Spring Break 247 was a solid somewhat longer match for two more undercard teams.

the Exile 3 way was short but fun and the finish was sudden. I love Genesis but all 3 are great.

Miami Sweet Heat continue to be the best, their promos are always highly entertaining and their heel work/double teams is always excellent. Another good match with Chantilly & Holidead.

the Tonga Twins released their statement on Friday, basically saying they spoke up about the "new commentator" which can only be assumed to be Nigel Zane as they wouldn't say his name but clarified it wasn't previous commentator Stephen Dickey or AJ.  They say he was trashing the talent and when they spoke up, he told them he was untouchable and that they would be let go.

Ariel Sky upsets Coach Campanelli in this week's opener, the water girl run is over quick. Nice set up for Top Tier likely challenging for the tag titles soon after.

Disciplinarian vs GI Jane was a solid match between two underrated talents. Goldie Collins continues to rule, nice showcase squash for her.

Pretty good tag team main event, could see Aussie & Tormenta eventually ending up in the tag title mix as well now.

Good opener with Sierra Breeze vs Penelope Pink. Breeze looks like another nice addition to the promotion. I’m surprised more of the former Performance Center wrestlers haven’t shown up in WOW.

Man, I don’t think I can ever boo Sophia Lopez again after that promo. And cool to get to see Jungle Grrrl. WOW is this camp ass wrestling promotion that can also get us in our feels with slices of reality like this.

Trios match was wild but fun. Nice to see Keta, Sugar and Spice pick up the win. Not surprised to see BK and Gigi turn on Lil J Boogie. They’ve been leading up to this. Plus, she’s such a natural face. And Stephy had some nice fire in her post match promo.

Beast vs Abilene was pretty much a foregone conclusion too lol Especially once we saw the All American Girls plotting. Congrats to The Beast. Should be interesting to see who steps up against her.

He's also apparently engaged to one of the members of Miami Sweet Heat. I'm not sure who to believe. It's all just super messy. But the Tongas do come off a little...strange.

Sierra Breeze looked good in her debut.

the Sophia Lopez segment came out of nowhere but was very nice and emotional. Glad to see Jungle Grrrl briefly involved, she had just crossed my mind when they mentioned Lana Star's past title run in the previous segment.

I was wondering why Stephy swapped with Keta rush for the trios rematch but it was all to set up the post match angle. At first I felt bad for Lil J getting turned against, but I love the idea of her and Stephy as a team.

Great blowoff to the Beast/Abilene finally coming to a conclusion. Thought Abilene had a really fun unexpected reign overall and look forward to the Beast being back on top since her last reign, which also had a perfect start, came to a rather abrupt end in addition to mostly being when WOW was off TV and between seasons.

I'm surprised they still have Tonga Twins stuff to air. Opening seg was  a nice setup for the 8 woman tag main event.

With Abilene being shown getting taken out with injury after last week, it made me wonder if that's the end of her comeback from retirement run. Hopefully she'll be back again.

Trios tag was a very good opener. Top Tier looked awesome as a unit even in defeat. Big win for Ariel Sky.

GI Jane vs Fury seemed like a random face vs face match, but Fury w/ Rebel Haze suddenly took on more of the heel role here.

Animal Instinct vs Mighty Mights was an entertaining quick tag, both great teams with fun offense.

Main event was a nice chaotic all-action brawl.

Nice opener with the grudge match between Lil J-Boogie and Stephy vs The Brat Pack. J-Boogie may be Stephy’s lucky charm.

I’m enjoying the oddball team of Chantilly and Holidead and was surprised to see them lose to Las Bandidas. Figured they had more momentum.

Another surprise as The Classmaster and Disciplinarian pulled a win over the Dojo Defenders. And it looked like Classmaster just about killed Kara with that chokeslam lol

Crazy to see Sophia Lopez as a face lol but decent main event between Tormenta and Reina although I think I would have switched this match with the opener.

  • 3 weeks later...

my Dish DVR has been failing me more often than not, not recording 2 weeks ago, then recording last week, but not recording this week. so I'm catching up on 3 weeks.

Nice series of tags in the 2 weeks ago episode. Also surprised to see Las Bandidas go over Chantilly & Holidead.

Thought everyone looked good in the IQ/Dojo tag. Classmaster's chokeslam finisher was indeed killer.  Solid Tormenta/Reina main event match.

-

Onto last week, nice tag opener. I had almost forgotten about Foxy & Roxy Fierce so it's good to see them finally come back around to come after Chainsaw.

I liked the trifecta of having all three former members of Exile in singles matches even if they all lost. Ice Cold/Ariel was solid. Exodus vs Keta was quick but a fun continuation of their last match draw which I loved.

Aussie/Genesis was an awesome main event. Too much of a step up for Genesis to get the win, but she looked excellent hanging in there.

-

Now back to Youtube for this past week's episode.  Fun trios bout, Top Tier continue to look awesome together and Sierra Breeze with the Dojo Defenders worked well together.

All American Girls vs. Las Bandidas was pretty good, nice finish from Santana and dug the setup for a future trios title match.

Chantilly & Holidead with a nice bounceback victory over the Heavy Metal sisters, epic double team finish.

The Classmaster made a pretty good matchup/defense for the Beast in the main event, both looked good there.

Penelope/Tiki was good with a surprise win for Tiki, which was awesome. Liked all of the post match antics leading to the main event.

Nice chemistry between Lil J and Ice Cold. Ice Cold has been one of my favorites for a while now so nice to see her branch out solo again. And Lil J Boogie was made to be a face.

Nice win for Animal Instinct against Team Spirit. On paper, the animal themed characters sounded iffy but they really work in WOW.

The main was perfectly fine wrestling but mainly a set up for continued Island Dynasty/Fab 4 issues, which should be fun.

Loved the start of The Fierce Sisters vs Chainsaw/Siren with the Sisters attacking before the bell rang and chasing poor Lauren out of the ring lol That’s how you do a chick that slammed you through a wall. From what little I could see, Roxxy looked decent so far and nice to see The Sisters get the win

Brat Pack/Dojo Defenders seemed to be going good until the unfortunate accident that led to the match ending early. Upon the replay, that kick to the jaw did look brutal.

Looking forward to Penelope/Beast next week

The trios match was really fun. Top Tier play well off of the All American Girls.

Main was fun and the outcome was no real surprise lol Class Master looked good and dominant though. They've got something there.
