RIPPA Posted January 1, 2019 Posted January 1, 2019 Jeff Passan announced that he was leaving Yahoo for ESPN starting... well... 7 hours ago

odessasteps Posted January 1, 2019 Posted January 1, 2019 I had heard it mentioned on the Rogers radio station in TO where Passan is a semi-regular guest. I assume he no longer will be, since most ESPN folk only appear on the TSN station.
Dolfan in NYC Posted January 16, 2019 Posted January 16, 2019 Bob Costas is leaving NBC after 40 years. He will stay on at the MLB Network.
Tabe Posted January 16, 2019 Posted January 16, 2019 I loved Bob Costas, Awesome Announce Guy, before he got replaced by Bob Costas, Sanctimonious Gas Bag Guy. 4

Bob Costas is someone who simultaneously realizes that sports aren't very important, but takes sports way too seriously. 1
Dolfan in NYC Posted January 16, 2019 Posted January 16, 2019 This should probably go in the baseball thread, but eh.
Gonzo Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 Making his first appearance in the 2019 iteration of this thread. . .Mike Francesa, ladies and gentlemen.
Tabe Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 That's so hilarious. Francesa should be fired for that. Good grief.
Dolfan in NYC Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 This, btw, is what chucklehead up there was referring to. Yes, a boomer got fooled by a photoshop. I'm as shocked as you: 1
RIPPA Posted January 22, 2019 Author Posted January 22, 2019 Mike Lombardi also thought it was real and went on a rant about it
Hand-Drawn Sprite Man Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 It's not even a particularly convincing photoshop. I thought Francesca retired?

He did, hated not having attention from the public, and came back. He also is constantly hawking a subscription-based app for $9.99 a month. He is also constantly threatening to quit. It's going well, as you can only imagine. (read the 2018 media thread for more)
Nice Guy Eddie Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 I'm proud to say I haven't listen to Francesa since he returned, and have no intention to.
Gonzo Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 Dave Portnoy and PFT Commenter managed to get themselves kicked out of Super Bowl Opening Night. Hopefully that's all the more coverage it receives.

I'm not going to get into a debate on the Barstool- NFL war because it's like the Kissinger line on the Iran-Iraq war that it's a shame both sides couldn't lose. But the league, instead of doing the smart thing and just ignoring the guy did that and created a video that could make people (right or wrong) sympathetic to him. But even worse is they gave the guy and his site the publicity and attention they both crave and seek.

Quick follow up, Virk is apparently going to sue for wrongful termination. My guess is they'll settle by giving him a small severance and that will be that. What he actually leaked, btw, was a conference call where MLB was letting ESPN slide on contractual obligations for studio time in return for moving the Sunday Night game to 7pm ET.
