There was a twitter exchange between Kevin Matthews and Impact Executive Vice President Scott D’Amore this past weekend which was telling. Matthews, known as KM, started it by saying “Piggybacking independent companies and drawing 500 people or less for a national TV company is worthy of bragging? Signing people to $300 exclusive contracts making $5,000 a year is okay? Keep telling yourself that Scott.” D’Amore responded, “We paid double your normal wrestling rate, kid. We can’t help it that it took you this long to figure people would pay more to not see you wrestle.” KM then wrote back, “Judging by attendance and viewership, it doesn’t seem like people pay to see anything Impact puts on. I enjoy this game, let’s keep playing.” D’Amore wrote back, “Funny, our viewership in many parts of the world has been consistently high. Our Twitch stuff has consistently on the top ten, our attendance continues to grow and you continue t love to talk about us.” KM then wrote, “I would continue to tweet but I wouldn’t want to be interrupted by 30 minute commercial for fish hooks. There’s a difference between spelling the truth and being salty. All the best to you.” KM did end up deleting his posts

Impact Wrestling Kicks Out Fan At NYC TV Tapings

Wrestling Inc. was informed by an attendee at last night's Impact Wrestling TV tapings

in New York City that security had thrown out a fan due to yelling, recording the matches, and pushing on the barricade.

Below is a report of what happened:

"A fan was standing up in the front row, yelling random things all night, putting down every match and every move. He's pushing on the barricade and it's pushing against Don Callis' back. He gets asked to sit down. While he's sitting down, he's just holding his phone in front of his face and he's clearly recording the entire time. After the match, he gets asked to put the phone away because there's no recording. He says on the ticket there is nothing that states that. He's given three to four warnings in the same conversation and he's not listening. Then, Atlas Security kicks him out and the entire crowd cheers and sings, 'Na, na, na, hey, hey, goodbye.'"

It was unclear what exactly the fan was yelling or to whom, no issues were reported after the fan was removed.

Good, fuck that fan. At least Impact was smart enough to let security handle it rather than having any wrestlers and/or booker take them to the back to talk to them.

Pentagon Jr. And Fenix Moved To IMPACT Wrestling's 'Alumni' Page

The Lucha Bros. are no longer on the active roster page for IMPACT Wrestling.

Former IMPACT World Tag Team Champions Pentagon Jr. and Fenix have been moved to the alumni page on IMPACT Wrestling's official website. The duo did not compete at the latest set of IMPACT TV tapings in Queens, New York. Their profiles being moved to the alumni page was first spotted via the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

NJPW Star Leaving Over Impact Wrestling

Davey Boy Smith Jr has been with NJPW since 2012, but it looks like those days have come to an end for the son of the British Bulldog.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Davey Boy Smith Jr will not be continuing his work with New Japan Pro Wrestling. This is because he wanted to work with Impact Wrestling and they wouldn’t allow it. So instead of keeping things the way they are, he will now be leaving NJPW.

“Yeah, he wasn’t happy. It’s not like one thing, there’s been a bunch of stuff. He wanted to go to Impact and they said no. There’s a miscommunication over that.”

NJPW Still Upset With Impact Wrestling For Almost Ruining Kazuchika Okada

We previously reported that Davey Boy Smith Jr has decided to leave NJPWbecause they wouldn’t let him work with Impact Wrestling. There might be a reason why NJPW isn’t too keen on working with Impact Wrestling because they hold a little bit of a grudge against the former TNA.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that NJPW is still mad at Impact Wrestling because of the way they treated Kazuchika Okada.

TNA had Okada in their company and they did nothing with him. Then NJPW turned around and made Okada one of the biggest names in pro wrestling within the next year.

“Everyone else who was in power when Okada was there is gone, you know, everyone. It’s not even the same company, but they’re still made at Impact over Okada. So you know know, I remember one year Scott D’Amore went there to the Tokyo Dome a couple of years ago and [he said] ‘It’s all new all of those people are gone, we’re sorry what happened to Okada’ and they still have that mentality like these are the people who couldn’t figure out what to do with Okada.”

Higher ups probably understand that its different people running it now, but brand is still the same. But casual NJPW fans probably aren't aware, nor care, that ownership changed hands and to them it would look like getting back with company that screwed them years ago.

And its not like working with Impact would be an upgrade to working with RoH.

Is Scarlett off to AEW or WWE then? I'm guessing AEW because she's friends with Alicia Atout (and WWE could have signed her before she went to Impact and didn't). Did impact forget to actually commit her to a long term contract before pushing her on TV for nearly a year? Seems a bit of a theme with this regime.

He signed long term. I don't see them letting him go that easily

With Scarlett Bordeaux being granted her release, the natural question that has been asked is whether Killer Kross is receiving one as well.  We have been told by multiple Impact Wrestling sources today that at this point, Kross will not be receiving a release and will continue to work for the company.  There were some in the company unhappy that Petey Williams provided Kross the forum on his podcast to speak out about his issues with the company, specifically since Williams is not just a talent but a Producer.   As previously noted, there's been unhappiness that Kross spoke out at all in the interview.

Announced for the Bash at the Brewery show on July 5 (which will air live on Twitch) (Not to be confused with the regular Friday show)

  • Brian Cage vs. Moose
  • Rosemary vs. Su Yung
  • Michael Elgin vs. Eddie Edwards

Imagine ever thinking a young boy on foreign excursion getting a silly gimmick was what led to the NJPW relationship breaking down and not the TNA World Heavyweight Champion being fucked up at NJPW's biggest show of the year.  If Okada doesn't do his excursion in TNA, he probably doesn't go back to NJPW with "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero's gimmick.

LAX's deals are apparently coming up.  Of all the talent they should be trying to secure those two would be at the top of my list.

FC Dallas and IMPACT Wrestling in promotional agreement

FC Dallas will welcome a world champion from another walk of life as the Frisco club have signed a promotional agreement with IMPACT Wrestling. The Toronto-based promotion bring their top-tier event, Slammiversary, to Dallas on July 7, and will hold a series of promotional events with the MLS club. The highlight will see IMPACT Wrestling's World Heavyweight Champion Brian Cage attend FC Dallas' July 4 fixture with D.C. United.

Cage will presumably take the role as scarfer of the Lamar Hunt statue for the game, after a release from IMPACT Wrestling mentioned Cage's participation in the half time penalty kick for charity against FC Dallas mascot Tex Hooper. The champion of the brand formerly known as TNA will also meet with FC Dallas youth players, and fans.

"I'm looking forward to going to the FC Dallas game on July 4th, cheering the team to victory and spending time with the strong fanbase, many of whom will be at Slammiversary on Sunday to root me on," said Cage.

Cage defends his title against Michael Elgin to headline the card at Gilley's. Rich Swann will also defend his X Division Title against Johnny Impact in a week that sees the world of professional wrestling take over Dallas.

Monday, July 1 sees WWE Raw return to town at the American Airlines Center, while New Japan Pro Wrestling will host a G1 Climax tournament event outside of Japan for the first time in its 45 year history as NJPW brings the first night of the 19-date tournament to the AAC on July 6. The main event of night 1 of the G1 Climax sees Hiroshi Tanahashi face Kazuchika Okada. Tanahashi is widely credited with leading the resurgence of the promotion, while Okada is often credited as the greatest performer currently in professional wrestling.
