he's assuming they won't need one because most of the guys they signed don't even drink alcohol.

No, he didn't say that dipshit. How are you this dumb in multiple forums? Good lord.

It did seem like he went into defense mode immediately as to why it might be ok for them to not have one. Citing that most of them don’t drink. Which was just bizarre.

Nevermind Daniels’ DUI and Jericho’s (their top star) multiple drunken escapades.

And the fact that he’s had plenty of snarky comments about other company’s wellness policies in years past.

I wouldn't call that defense mode.  He said that as far he knows most of those guys don't drink. Daniels and Jericho aren't on the only guys they've signed. Moreover, at no point, did he connect that to JUSTIFYING NOT having one. Or else, he would said as such. He wouldn't even discuss it all.

Is this you guys first time listening to Dave Meltzer?

1. Why are you getting so angry defensive?

2. He was asked about a hypothetical wellness policy and he gave a rambling, speculative answer. He clearly has no idea if they will have one or not.

You’re kidding right? He would have never “said as much”. This guy is the king of hinting at things without directly saying them. Sounds like you’re the one that has never listened to him.

He was asked about a wellness policy. He said he doesn’t know of one... and then awkwardly segwayed into “...its funny because most of those guys don’t even drink. I don’t expect....” before awkwardly laughing and cutting himself off.

Why even bring all that up in that context? What relevance does them not drinking have to do with whether or not there’s a wellness policy? He could have easily said “I’m not aware of one” and left it at that.

Instead, he was trying to make it seem like its “no big deal” because those guys aren’t into “that stuff.”

Anyone who listens to that clip will get that.

Dave stated pretty clearly that they won't have a wellness policy and before matches the Young Bucks will be forced to drink.

There will be ritual hazing and those who complain will be forced to watch Billy Gunn matches. Yup, he totally said that.

Lmao. You’re really gonna act like a little bitch because I directly quoted what he said and you don’t like it?

No, I am mad because you didn't direct me to Wade Keller for those "quotes". Clearly, you are the definitive guide on these matters.

So are people still going to do the "Be Elite, Be Be Elite" or switch to "A-E-Dub A-E-Dub"? I'm in favor of it being a phrase chant that takes a few go arounds for everyone to be in-sync, but if it has to be initials then I want it to be 2 1/2 letters.

I like that the New Age Outlaws are running Wrestling right now. Billy Gunn with this start up and Roaddogg holding down the WWE. If only X-PAC can just get that writers gig over at New Japan then he won't look like a jackoff at the reunion.

No, he drew a logical conclusion from evidence at hand, this is called "reasoning", you really ought to try it sometime, it can be most illuminating.

Wouldn't ritual hazing and watching Billy Gunn matches be much the same thing?

Hell, it's almost 2AM here, I really should call it a night, I don't want to miss the Saturday morning massacre when Phil wakes up and reads this thread. Should be fucking epic.

And then he randomly lurched into talking about how most of the roster doesn’t drink (a bunch of them do). Just for conversation purposes, I suppose.

Certainly not to insinuate that wellness policy wasn’t needed or anything.

You can make up evidence, use that to infer someone explicitly said something, and then pretend you didn't understand as an excuse for lying.

He knew dumbasses like yourself would add your own interpretation.

Spending hours pouring through all the info and podcasts that have dropped this week, it does sound like tag team wrestling is going to be heavily featured, as the Bucks are in charge of the tag division specifically. I do think the Golden Lovers, if/when they get Ibushi to do at least some appearances, got modern NJPW as close as its gotten to heyday King's Road style classic tag matches featuring singles stars that progressed and wove different narratives together instead of just the standard fare NJPW lazy tags (that can still be quite good!). That's something I'd love AEW to continue if it really does pan out that Omega and eventually Ibushi join in some capacity, as it's my favourite pro wrestling. The drama of the tag team match with the dynamics you can play around with just give so many tools to brilliant wrestlers like those two that it for me surpasses all but the best of the best singles matches. Like, they have perhaps an even better incarnation of the Bucks/GL match in their pocket way down the line if they could tone down some of the histrionics and perform some of the moves a little crisper (as there was some very uncharacteristic awkwardness, some of which comes from that being one of the GL's first tag matches in years). You know The Revival are just counting down the days until they can sign with the Elite (I think Lanza is right that people are eventually going to just refer to it as The Elite because AEW is awkward to say) and have some unreal matches with The Bucks (FTR!) and hopefully the Golden Lovers. Gable has proven to be a magnificent tag talent and is another guy that people always bring up as an example of the type that would leave WWE for AEW.  I don't think it would be too hard to find a partner for him that would work. Jericho's been a lone wolf for a while now but I'd love for him to take on an understudy dickhead, perhaps MJEFF. I look forward to great tag team wrestling featuring a combination of traditional teams like Bucks and Revival but also combinations of singles wrestlers. I think that could be a significant way in which these guys could differentiate themselves from WWE.

When Sasha, Becky and Charlotte got called up from NXT is assumed that they would feature the Tag team division more prominently in NXT. Its been featured strongly at times since but it hasnt really translated well into WWE because obviously Vince isnt a tag team guy. I never understood why TNA tried to become more of a a Tag team territory, theyve had AMW, LAX , Beer Money , Team 3D and some really great feuds between tag teams sprinkled out through their history but not anything that would make seem like the valued tag wrestling anymore than WWE. I thought TNA Womens Tag division was some of the best stuff they did atleast early on. But yeah I hope AEW has a deep tag team division like mid 80s NWA.

What might actually work in all divisions is a "Top Ten" or "Top Five" list, it was actually a very useful booking tool when JCP used it, and you could always rely on good undercard matches by having teams (or singles) jockeying for position to be the #1 Contender. Led a certain air of legitimacy to proceedings even if it was obviously worked.  PWI used to have a top ten that was comprised of pretty much every fed out there being represented and the results were beyond hilarious, I certainly don't advocate anything goofy like that, but emphasis on W/L and moving up or down based on same is something that should be brought back and it sounds like that's what Cody & Co. want to do.
