Can they make their roster more unique or will they be fighting over the same guys along with ROH, MLW, and Impact?

I was perfectly happy with All In being a collaborative effort. I'd rather see working arrangements rather than another ROH vs. Gabe battle, which hurt everybody involved.

That is what I am worried about with this.  If everyone is going to start to become uncooperative it wont be long before the zombie wrestling organization Impact goes, Corgan's whatever he is doing goes

The end of the golden age of the indies has already come and gone, next are companies like Impact finally shutting up shot. I don't see ROH lasting in this current incarnation especially with the ridiculous amount of money they're apparently paying these new guys who are a quarter over as the Bucks and Cody were. And if ROH isn't going to play nice, BC Broz are going to stay loyal to AEW and there goes a huge chunk of ROH's audience. If AEW is a success, the tertiary market will dry up really quickly and it'll be WWE >>>> AEW >> everybody else operating at a very small scale. I don't remember who it was, but they were talking about owners like Smallman of  Progress working with WWE because they knew the gig is up and when Progress inevitably closes they'll at least get a job with WWE out of it. Makes sense. I hate to see it but it makes sense.

Maybe NJPW works with The Elite down the line but in reality, they are competition now that NJPW is looking to expand into the States long-term. If NJPW doesn't have Omega and/or Jericho, good luck with that though. I know that they have to stick with ROH until Mania weekend but turning down AEW seems like a fucking moronic move at this moment. Fucking ROH...

If Kenny lands with AEW, I hope he makes them pay out Capcom and whomever so he can use his DDT theme (latter day DDT? Not the techno version). It's very listenable and perhaps just a tad better than the dogshit theme he's been saddled with in NJPW.

AEW's one Indy supershow in the bag now and no guarantee that it'll be any kind of successful and that Cody/Bucks will be any kind of good booking an actual wrestling show with an hour of content a week.  NJPW would be fucking insane to kick a good US inroad relationship with RoH to the curb for an Attitude Era Nostalgia act's vanity promotion that hasn't run a show and only has 8 people under contract and a whole lot of varied info that reeks of bullshit in the wild.

I get that we're excited about another money backed promotion, but let's pump the brakes on this automatically being 92 WCW before we even see a lineup.

How much value does ROH give them without Cody and especially The Bucks though? There the ones that sold t-shirts, tickets, got eyes on World (with Kenny, obviously)

I like Jay Lethal a lot, but he ain't moving the needle for ROH much less New Japan.

Lol at this being an “Attitude Era Nostolgia Act”. How did you arrive at that conclusion? Other than Joey Ryan and possible brigade of penises involved?

Well RoH provides a venue for them where they can send their talent. For example Juice signed a new 3-years deal with NJPW and to me it is clear that his role will be "ace of the USA". And RoH runs lots of shows (lots compared to AEW) where Juice can be booked as a top guy. Like going crazy here a bit, I think it is not unlikely that at some point we'll get Lethal vs Juice in RoH world champ vs NJPW USA champ match. Would Juice get booked as a top guy in AEW? I have hard time believing that, he probably would be midcarder. And sure, you can argue how it is better to be midcarder in big fed than top guy in smaller fed, but at the moment we have no idea how big of an exposure AEW will really have and how they'd actually book Juice.

This is kinda similar situation to what NJPW now has with RevPro in UK. Their shows are basically about getting people signed with NJPW over as top guys. For example, I think it is likely that announced big UK show will have ZSJ vs Ospreay for main event.

I don't know, it would be really weird to suddenly send Juice to ROH right after his angle with Cody was about the belt needing to be on New Japan shows, instead of Cody having it at ROH shows.

If (and it's still a big if) this really does cost them Kenny Omega, it might hurt them a lot, at least in the West.

Both Shad Khan and Tony Khan have released statements on what fans can expect from All Elite Wrestling (AEW), which will officially launch today with a rally in Jacksonville, Florida.

SHAD KHAN STATEMENT ON AEW: “I am the lead investor, a supporter and a backer of All Elite Wrestling, and I anticipate great things today and into the future for AEW and everyone who has worked passionately on this week’s launch. I know AEW will be welcomed by wrestling fans here in the U.S. and throughout the world who are ready for something new and authentic. AEW will work hard to deliver on that promise.

As important, I am the father – the proud father – of Tony Khan, who will serve in a leadership role at AEW during the 2019 launch and in the years ahead. Tony will assemble a great team to take AEW over the top, for the benefit of everyone who loves the wrestling industry, while continuing to serve in his current capacities with the Jaguars and Fulham.

AEW will operate as an organization completely independently from my other interests. It will not deter attention or divert resources from any of my businesses, teams, projects or investments. At the same time, AEW will enjoy the same full commitment I given to everything and everyone in my life – my family and friends, my business and, in recent years, to sports, hospitality and now entertainment.”

TONY KHAN STATEMENT ON AEW: “Wrestling fans are a community unlike most others. I’ve been a part of this community since I was 7 years old, and I can tell you that wresting fans see the world every day through a special lens. We see wrestling in Hollywood films and tv shows, we see elements of wrestling in the presentation of sports and in the marketing of grandiose star athletes, and we certainly see wrestling in politics.

The wrestling community is a constant; its members are diverse, we are physically located on all corners of the planet, yet we are constantly connected. Recently, a new family has formed, bonded by love and respect for wresting but armed with a vision and resources that have never before been available to the wrestling community. Our objective is to connect our community closer than ever before through All Elite Wrestling, or AEW.

AEW does not mean any less of a continued commitment to existing obligations and duties that I have, or my family has, to our business and sports interests. That will never be the case. What’s important is that every individual decision we make as family, whether it’s ownership or investment in a team or property, is 100 percent beneficial to those specific interests. I will always welcome that accountability and responsibility, as nothing is more important than serving our supporters and friends.

AEW will launch with a roster of the top wrestlers in the world. While they’ll clash in what will be some of the most intense and fast-paced contests ever sanctioned in the squared circle, they’ll also share a common goal: to make this the true golden age, to make this the greatest time ever to be a wrestling fan. Likewise, as a business, by treating our wrestlers with respect and warmth, we also seek to make this the golden age for the performers themselves.

I urge everyone who believes in what we’re doing, or wants to believe in dreams coming true, to support AEW by spreading the word and passing the wrestling bug onto someone else. My message: Get in on the ground floor with AEW today and help lead our movement to grow the wrestling community and ensure that the voices of the wrestling fans, their creative minds and their remarkable ideas, will always be heard.”

Not gonna lie, the part about “providing resources never before available” is pretty exciting.

Omega to Elite, while not a certainty, looks likely according to Dave. No to WWE. He also said njpw doesn't want to lose him and that rigid no AEW yet stuff may change really quickly. I can fuck with this.

Honestly that statement just reads like they've got some very concerned investors in their other ventures.

Same. Kenny hasn't wanted to work the house show tags for a while anyway. The whole thing is still weird to me, though, if it's all literally true. Either there's plenty of work in the mix, or New Japan is remarkably naive. Kenny, who flirts with leaving every year, might jump at a mega money offer to work for his best friends and do literally whatever he wants, while devoting more time to his video game ventures. Like... yeah?

What if I said they bought the rights to Slam Jam Vol. 1? Would you consider it a success then?

That and this:

All In really reminded me of the SuperClashes, and now everyone is falling over themselves to build up Pro Wrestling USA/USWA before the sky falls.

Honestly, those 2 posts are spot on.

I want AEW to succeed, but I think people are really getting carried away with AEW's hype.

Yeah, I’m trying not to poop on too many parties but AEW is 6 people and a logo so far. Those people have some experience and credentials under their belt but none of them have run a touring promotion with weekly TV before and the only show they have put on was so poorly timed out the main event had to be chopped in half and they still almost missed airing the pinfall. I truly hope it succeeds but it might be best to temper expectations.

I don’t see any reason to not get excited. Dave has always said if someone wanted to truly compete with wwe it would take 100 mil in start up costs. And now we have a billionaire pledging 100 million to a new wrestling promotion. I’m not getting an aew tattoo any time soon, but I’m excited about it

If they don’t announce a tv deal today that will be very disappointing though. If they can’t get one yet when would they be able to?

A few more hours and we’ll know a lot more about this.

We actually don't know that and are just following rumors...
