What is the general opinion on Apex Legends?

Very positive from what I've seen. The main complaint is that it's one of the bigger battle royale maps out there for both size and verticality so that when you factor in it's only 60 players, you can go awhile without seeing anyone.

I've also heard mixed opinions on the amount of loot/items/weapons/gear in the game. Some people said it's too much, others like how much there is so it's not as much of a scavenger hunt, but almost universally people love the color coding system and the alerts you get that inform you if you're picking up shit that's worse than what you have.

So I'm still playing a bit of Yakuza Kiwami. You level up your relationship with one of the girls from the Hostess clubs to S Rank, and suddenly it stops being computer graphics and becomes an actual video clip of her being all sexy, because she's actually a real person. That's... a bit creepo. And then it tells you to keep going out with her because if you do good on minigames you get even more clips.

A quick google and it looks like the videos are on the youtube, if you search for Yakuza Kiwami Rina or Yakuza Kiwami Yui. It just surprised the hell out of me how these computer characters would suddenly turn into actual real life people.

At some point Sega/Team Ryu decided to start using RL adult performers for minor women chars. It's most prominent in 0 (where half the women in substories unlock a bikini video you can watch at a porn shop) but it's around in several other games and it's always weird.

Playing Speed Power Gunbike on the PS1.  Man..... most video games would only be improved by a healthy amount of Engrish.  Why "ANERGY EMPTY!! YOU ALL OVER!!” never became a meme i’ll never know (that's from SPG's game over screen).

Also, had this awkward conversation with the wife

Wife (a bit disapprovingly); You have an awful lot of PS1 games.  Think you have 200?"

Me (sheepishly): "Yeah... I ....think I have 200."

I think i have 200 because I'm fairly sure the actual count is 500-600.  It's been years since I've really kept track of the number, but I'm almost sure it's 500+, plus the various variants, limited editions, and imports of games I also bought the NA release.

I really want to inventory my gaming collection, but, at this point, it'd be a mammoth job, lol.

So I downloaded Langrisser for my Fire tablet and absolutely love it (so far).

I'm only a few levels in but the turn-based combat is quick and animated very well.

I wish I could say the same for Onigiri on the Switch.

This is the clunkiest game I've played on the Switch.

Since it is a MMORPG there are probably tons of people playing and the lobby is so slow.

I'm going to try and stick it out and see if they can patch it to a playable level.

Picked up King's Quest Collector's Edition for PS4 and instead of adding to the backlog I fired it up to see how it played compared to the older games.

And I must say it stands up nicely.

It runs so smooth and the voice acting led by Christopher Lloyd is top notch.

Also picked up Raiden V for PS4.

Now bullet hell is not my favorite genre, but this game is a blast.

My only gripe so far is they cover up a good portion of the screen with dialog and simulated cockpit controls that add NOTHING.

There is a storyline, but it is hard to follow at times because of the carnage going on.

I tried to catch up on story by reading some of the displayed dialog, but quickly realized the level had moved on and I was being shot up.

I thought about downloading Apex Legends, but it's team-based, even if features are added so that you don't have to verbally communicate with any of your team members. Eh...

I’ve been playing on PS4, and surprisingly the majority of the players I’ve played with microphones aren’t massive dicks. Just massive potheads instead, but good dudes regardless sharing health packs, and ammo.

So many people are talking about Apex Legends lately that's it's making me replace every Apex Legends with Apex Legends, until Apex Legends no longer sounds like an Apex Legends.

So it's the Davey Richards of video games, basically.

Guest The Magnificent 7

Dillon!  YOU SONUVABITCH.

Do any of you dudes have Ghost Recon: Wildlands on Xbone? If so I could use your help beating the Predator. I am near the end game and will go back to this mission here soon as I got worked the few times I tried it early on.

I prefer you don’t flake out like Billy but I’ll take anyone even if it’s a bullet sponge to take some of the Predator’s heat off.

What's the import gaming selection like for Nintendo Switch and PS3?

Thinking about buying one console or the other this week when i trade some stuff in at the local retro store.  One of the reasons i really liked PSX and PS2 collecting was they both had deep import catalogs.  Own at least 100+ import only games for each system.  Systems that don't have deep import catalogs  (N64, Gamecube) don't tend to do as much for me as a collector.

I'm really asking about physical releases, not downloadable games.  I don't know if it's feasible, but I have no immediate plans to sign up for the online services for either console.  There might be a few games that interest me enough to download, but ebooks and digital games have never interested me as a collector.

"From the leering depths of the Japanese imagination," is still a part of my current lexicon.

Yeah, the X-Play Made In Japan review of Sexy Beach 3 is not only hilarious, it's very very very NSFW, so go watch it on the YouTubes.

I just led Seattle Sounders FC to a CCL win, a MLS Cup, and a Club World Cup win in the same season, no re-starts or save scumming, in Football Manager. They beat a PSG club with Pogba, Hazard, and Neymar all in the starting eleven in the CWC final.

Holy shit, this may be my greatest video game achievement ever. I'm not kidding.

Seriously, I'm fucking even more ecstatic than I might be if they somehow did this shit in real life.

G4/X-Play brings back some memories of my teenage years. One of the recent videos on UpUpDownDown featured Morgan Webb, actually. That was a nice surprise.

YAKUZA UPDATE:

I just stuck a switchblade in Hiroshi Tanahashi's belly and then nailed the handle with a knee smash.  I like Tanahashi, but that was still incredibly satisfying.

OTHER STUFF:
Doctor Who Legacy, probably the mobile game I spent the most time on ever in the 9 years I've had a modern mobile device, is done.  I'd burned out on it long ago but I'm still kind of sad as no other Puzzle Quest wanna be (or even PQ games themselves) ever got me to spend a hundred hours.

I really, really enjoyed Marvel Puzzle Quest but on the F2P scale of "give you lots of shit for free" carrot and "pay or you cannot advance the game" stick, that game is 100% stick, so it can go fuck itself.

I was really excited when the PS4 version came out, because it didn't have microtransactions (you could buy DLC episodes but everything was unlockable thru play instead of buy-in random rolls) but of course that meant that they quit supporting it after 2 DLC packs

It’s still miles better than say the WWE game in that regard.

I can't believe I overlooked that initially but sure enough she's in the Pax video.  It's amazing how XPlay wasn't that long ago yet it feels that way.  I miss seeing her and Sessler on there and all the little side bits they would do.  Can't wait to get home and catch some videos on Youtube.
