Dolfan in NYC Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Going to start this, since it doesn't exist in this forum.
odessasteps Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Before I scrolled down, I thought it was the Heart sister that died. 1
Contentious C Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 To be fair, if you deleted all the pre-existing dead musician threads in this forum, you could fit the entire remaining contents into a Rolodex. Sad on at least a few levels.
Curt McGirt Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 The thing is, musicians' deaths tend to affect us far more than your average movie person or even wrestler. There are still going to be plenty of stand-alone threads here, because we'll need them; that said, it's nice to have this for some of the smaller names that might go unnoticed otherwise. 1
odessasteps Posted January 4, 2019 Posted January 4, 2019 Pegi Young, former wife of Neil, who sang and wrote on some of his albums, and ran the Bridge school, passed away age 69.
Curt McGirt Posted January 4, 2019 Posted January 4, 2019 She was the one that had the kid with I believe cerebral palsy or something, right? The one he was together with for a long long time and broke up with unexpectedly? Why did they break up, anyway?
odessasteps Posted January 4, 2019 Posted January 4, 2019 Yes. They started the Bridge school partially due to their sons needs.
Curt McGirt Posted January 4, 2019 Posted January 4, 2019 Ah. I read the bio Shakey quite a few years ago so I thought that was her. In any case, RIP.
Zimbra Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 It's being reported on twitter that James Ingram has passed away. 2

J.H. Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 Of the Monkees Tork lived life hardest. Some were amazed he made it to 50 let alone 77. I had the pleasure of seeing him, Nesmith and Dolenz perform in Detroit and it made me weep tears of jpy getting to see some version iof the band play with Nesmith. Tork is such an underappreciated musiccian it seems and probably had the most musical talent of the Monkees. Dolenz and Nesmith remain but all four remain in my heart James
J.T. Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 I heard about Peter Tork's passing this morning on NPR. Someone needs to freeze Micky Dolenz and Mike Naismith in carbonite.
rainmakerrtv Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 The last 3 Talk Talk albums are breathtaking works of art. It always broke my heart that he stopped making music so early on. 1
Mister TV Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 Early Who drummer Doug Sandom passed away, he was a lot older than the rest of the band and his ousting lead to Keith Moon showing up at a gig and asking to play a few songs. https://www.thewho.com/doug-sandom-1930-2019/?fbclid=IwAR2Ss8d4nwVmKNDRF3-St4MF5JFf5U2-S8xC_yERORJymtNvRbv1R-EcpdI

Swift Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 Big fan of them in the 90s with Fat of the Land being on regular rotation. Their work since then has been a very mixed bag, some great tunes but the rest mostly repetitive dirge. Howlett was obviously the creative brain behind the band, but Keith Flint was a perfect frontman for them. 1
Travis Sheldon Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 I'm dumbstruck with the news of Flint's death. The Day Is My Enemy has stayed in my rotation since release and was such a great comeback for them.
