JLSigman
While it deserves 90% of the rep it has, the site is seriously shooting itself in the foot. All sorts of non image stuff getting flagged. Yahoo kills another one.
RIPPA
I saw @Hoarr tweeting yesterday about how it might affect the WCW Worldwide Tumblr page
Death From Above
This will absolutely be used as an excuse to target LGBTQ content. Bet your absolute last penny on that. That's really all I have to say about this without violating the board's standing policy on not wanting things to get too political.
BurningBeard
I set up a tumblr this summer, as I'm 10 years behind the rest of the world, just as an outlet for posting my art and for reblogging similar stuff. I'm followed mostly by porn bots so I assume I'm only going to end up with two followers soon.

While I'm not on tumblr much at all, I do have an account on the website, and pay attention to know this is the quickest way possible to make that site worthless and empty. Seriously, instead of just destroying your site from the inside, maybe just... you know, hire people to moderate it properly? Maybe try not being stupid? Anyway, a relevant youtube video
Lamp, broken circa 1988
I love this. Nothing makes me happier than tech companies announcing they're about to Sideshow Bob themselves to death. It's like they completely forgot that the reason they got their userbase was because LiveJournal banned "adult content." By the way, the actual paragraph of what they're going to be going after is a hoot. Here: "Don't upload images, videos, or GIFs that show real-life human genitals or female-presenting nipples —this includes content that is so photorealistic that it could be mistaken for featuring real-life humans (nice try, though). Certain types of artistic, educational, newsworthy, or political content featuring nudity are fine. Don’t upload any content, including images, videos, GIFs, or illustrations, that depicts sex acts." Top three things I love about this: 1) Their shitty fucking attitude. "ALL YOU REALIST PAINTERS PAINTING TITTIES ARE REAL WISE GUYS, EH?! I SEE YOUZE" 2) "female-presenting nipples." Because nipples are to breasts as Fats is to James Brown's Live At the Apollo. 3) "newsworthy or political content featuring nudity." So doxing, basically. Consensual porn bad, private photos stolen off of iCloud good. Got it.
Hoarr
Almost every other post I've put up on the WCW Worldwide Tumblr was flagged but thankfully, the whole site wasn't pulled. Turns out that several items have just been hidden from public view, which absolutely sucks since the pulled content seemingly goes all the way back to 2013. The only way to bring them back is to seek out the posts and send individual appeals for each one, which isn't as easy to do as the dashboard for the site sucks. I saw some issues on the backend on Tumblr regarding archiving photos a while back, so I luckily pulled back over the past couple of years from posting there exclusively, but it still irks me. However, I did get a good laugh at this:

Gonzo
In 2013, Yahoo! purchased Tumblr for $1.1 billion. Today, Verizon (who acquired Yahoo! back in 2017) sold Tumblr to Automattic, the owners of WordPress, for "less than $3 million." I believe that's what people in the financial industry call "taking a bath." Edited August 13, 2019 by Gonzo
Brian Fowler
They couldn't even sell it for pennies on the dollar. Holy fuck. Of course, the only people who maybe didn't know this was going to happen was Tumblr.
JLSigman
Yeah, the joke going around Tumblr right now is that next year when WordPress wants to sell it we could crowdfund $30k or so and run it ourselves.
damnnearfonzie
On a side note-if you keep images online with TinyPic.com, welp...they're shutting down this year. It doesn't have a date either-it just says they'll be gone sometime this year. I put a shit ton of images there years ago and it'll suck trying to go thru all of them to save them back...but anyways, just giving a heads up.
