Because the Dodgers were in Brooklyn in 1916?

and they were also known as the Robins back then.

same franchise, but a forgotten name change that has probably fooled the overworked intern whose job it is to research this shit.

Or they just said fuck it and aren't letting the facts get in the way of this FIRST TIME EVER narrative, like Wrestlemania 3

Did the Dodgers leave there record book in Brooklyn or does it go all the way back to then?

Their record book includes all the Brooklyn years, yes. And for anyone who says "but they were the Robins then!" - they were called the Dodgers, too.

Well MLB does run the WWE Network maybe they lifted some carnyisms

Not anymore - all of the partner streaming was part of the Bamtech spinoff, so Disney runs it.

How were they called both the Robins and the Dodgers?

Same way the Yankees are the Bombers.  NY sports media gives them a nickname (Trolleydodgers because they were a fast team & Brooklyn) and it sticks.

Team names were also a lot more fluid back then too, they really were just nicknames, some just stuck more than others. Trademarks and merchandising hadn't really come into play, beyond small stuff like selling picture cards and such.

Cleveland had a different team "name" every year from 1899-1903 (Rustlers, Lake Shores, Bluebirds/Blues, Broncos, Napoleons/Naps) and didn't settle on that name until 1914.

Before about 1930, team names were basically random.  The Red Sox had roughly 8371 different names - Beaneaters, Americans, Pilgrims, and so on.

Also, Boston *were* the Boston Americans when they won the first World Series.

And the Yankees being the Highlanders when they started in NY.

And also called the "Hilltoppers", both because they played on top of a hill.

Chalmers has a nice history with baseball. They used to award a car to batting champions. One year, opponents rigged it so that Nap Lajoie would win the batting title over Ty Cobb.
