The Natural
Laughing at the tags for this topic. Nice one EVA. You had to ressurect this topic didn't ya ; ). Man of Steel like Iron Man 3 is a divisive film. I'm on the side who liked Man of Steel but didn't love it, my Dad sure didn't like it. I liked the main performances. The closing minutes of the film when Clark Kent joins The Daily Planet is my favourite thing in the film. Looking at the negative reviews, the main criticisms I've come across are the tone of the film, the battles taking up time and Superman killing General Zod which surprised me. Brian Fowler
The best thing about the movie is that it's the best live-action take on Lois ever. Bad-ass, great reporter, solves the "who is Superman" mystery before he even becomes Superman, fights back, and is never just a damsel in distress, all in a really good performance from Amy Adams. Also, I am an unabashed fan of the way Zack Snyder shoots action. I think the set-pieces were ill-conceived (see above re: my complaints) but that was as good of disaster porn as anything since Titanic way back when. Except for the fight on Krypton, where it looked like Snyder had been replaced by the hack who directed the Bourne films. But then the stuff on Earth was beautiful. Costner and Crowe both did a really good job with material I mostly didn't like. Why do Superman's mothers never matter nearly as much as his fathers? If I'm not mistaken, the Bourne series had three different directors (Doug Liman, Paul Greengrass, and Tony Gilroy who wrote for all of the movies). Brian Fowler
I meant Greengrass, but I couldn't remember his name, and was too lazy too look it up, so then I was going to say the last two Bourne films, but then I remembered they made that 4th one that I haven't seen with Hawkeye instead of Bourne, and then I gave up and just said "hack that directed the Bourne movies" because it wasn't worth the time anymore. MarcosLoura
Re: the interactive space muralI think it was probably the other way around. I'm guessing nobody realized it was going to be as cool and effective as it was, and by the time they did, they had already invested a ton of money on the Krypton stuff and couldn't cut it. Yeah, probably. Which is dumb since it was so perfect. Snyder is actually really good at those recap scenes.
Bustronaut
90% of the damage in the city was not caused by Superman. Try again.. Clark was responsible for the destruction of at least 8 skyscrapers when he destroyed the controls of the ship before the final fight.
Niners Fan in CT
I didn't see anyone around. Maybe they evacuated? The sequence was probably 30-40 minutes but who knows how long it was in real time.

EVA
How do you commit genocide on people who don't even exist as fetuses yet? Are you some kind of extreme pro-lifer? Gonzalez
I was just thinking about this just now. Where was the obsessive fanboy bitching when Spider-Man snapped Gwen Stacey's neck in half?
Bustronaut
Well you see, that was an accident. Also, in months and months of letter columns following it. Mainly directed at Gerry Conway.
EVA
While the board was down, I could've sworn I read a news story about Superman killing someone in the comics in a fit of rage just recently.

odessasteps
I thought they were setting up Arthur Light as a babyface. Or was just so they could kill him and bring in Dr Light II, who may or may not be his wife i.n the nu52?
Niners Fan in CT
Whether he killed him or not the intent was there. Attempted murder is the crime.
Bustronaut
He was/is on JLA, and HE was the one that talked the rest of JLA into helping out JL, then he touched Wonder Woman so Superman fried him with heat vision. Then the last panel is someone saying "...And they really believe SUPERMAN killed Doctor Light!"
Niners Fan in CT
But most likely it will be a "Superman wasn't Superman at the time" much like Cyclops wasn't Cylops in the AvX. Anyway you cut it, Superman has been a dick in recent DC much more than the complaints levied against Man of Steel. The real complaints should be against the comics themselves... Brock Samson
Then the last panel is someone saying "...And they really believe SUPERMAN killed Doctor Light!" If they've already seen Man of Steel, it's not much of a stretch.
