GOT: Who Do You Miss the Most?

Recommended Posts

As we slowly prepare for the final season of the greatest show in television history, I thought this might be a fun discussion. GRRM is a grim mofo, and as we've learned, anyone can die at any moment (even Jon Snow). In a show filled with memorable characters that me their fate, who do you miss the most?

I gave no fucks about Ned Stark or Robert Baratheon, an idiot living on a fake rep as a badass and a fat fool. How Robert beat Rhaegar is a mystery, but I digress...

Tywin Lannister - The dour military genius should have taken the Iron Throne for himself, would have been better to meet his fate on the throne as opposed to the shitter.

Littlefinger - Nasty man who had his little fingers (see what I did there) in every nefarious plot. He reach finally exceeded his grasp; but it's a shame that we don't have him around just to screw with everyone else.

Khal Drogo - Brutal barbarians are the coolest thing next to pirates and ninjas. The series needed more Khal running amok, just because he can.

Olenna Tyrell - Leaving aside that Diana Rigg was my first crush as a kid (loved those Avengers re-runs), she consistently had some of the best lines and was nothing short of an amazing character. Props also to Diana for being able to say "I'll have the cheese served now!" and making it sound menacing.

Roose Bolton - A poor man's Tywin Lannister with a sadistic streak a mile wide. Far more interesting than his son who was basically Joffrey V 2.0 with a fetish for flaying people.

Doran & Oberon Martell - Both men deserved better than what they got. Having the bi Oberon as a total badass was a high point in how LGBTQ characters are portrayed on TV. Also, for a guy that couldn't get around very well because of gout, Doran was cool as fuck.

Barristan Selmy - His death served no real purpose, and I like the concept of an old guy being the baddest mofo in the room.

So who ya got?

Ser Barristan the Bold was never as well served in the show as he was in the books, aside from the bit where he was being expelled from the Kingsguard and said "Even now I could cut through the lot of you" . The greatest warriors in the land responded by getting really quiet and staring at the floor until somebody changed the subject. That said more about who he was than anything physical he did.

Tywin was the one character who, even after he died, if something big happened, I'd wonder how he would respond to it. And then remember he'd never respond to anything ever again.

I liked Oona Chaplin's character though. Back from when book to show changes seemed inspired and interesting, rather than the crushing disappointments they have been lately.

Barristan. He was one of my favorite characters.
