Mariners road trip...

L to R: Cameron Maybin as Bret Hart, Mitch Haniger as Owen (?), Nelson Cruz as Undertaker, Ichiro as Steve Austin, Denard Span as Hulk Hogan, and Guillermo Heredia as the Macho Man.

...why does Ichiro/Austin have Dudley glasses and a porn stache?

Couple years ago, went to the Dodgers/Mariners game at Safeco. Walking around town beforehand, saw at least 100 people wearing Dodgers jerseys and maybe one wearing a Mariners jersey.

I chalk that up to a lot of folks having East Coast family, so there are lots of generational Dodger fans. Like, I grew up in the Bay Area, but my Dad is from Brooklyn and my Mom is from LA, so no fucking way would I have ended up rooting for anyone else.

Also, they have been good for a long time for the most part, and people tend to support high profile teams, especially when they win a lot.

So....Oakland looking good lately.

Fuckin A right they have been. I hope they falter tonight and tomorrow, since I'm going to both games against LAD. Hill tonight and Kershaw tomorrow, so not a bad couple of guys to have on the hill trying to get a couple wins.

Kenley Jansen is struggling with an irregular heartbeat again and is expected to be out a month

Yo, I don't give a fuck if he never throws another pitch. That has got to be terrifying to deal with this again. I hope he gets it all straightened out. He had surgery for it in 2012, and this is like the 4th or 5th time he's had issues, and I think that three of them have coincided with trips to Denver. Crazy stuff.

The Mariners are demoting Felix Hernandez to the bullpen.

Long time coming. He was bad last year and really bad this year. If he'd been remotely decent, they'd comfortably be in the wild card.

If this ends up being it for him, I don't think ends up being in the HOF. Just a casual look at his stats on baseball reference has him short in both traditional stats and Sabr stuff(as much as I understand them). who'd have thunk it?

Down 3, Bases Loaded, 2 out, Bottom of the 9th, 2 strikes. This is that fantasy scenario you dream of when you are swinging a wiffle ball bat at age 6.

My self esteem was so low, in my fantasy I reached on an error and was eventually stranded at 2nd. I just didn't think anything more than that was realistic.

Shows the folly of annoiting HOF stats too early in a young players career, esp a power pitcher

Yet has had more good seasons than Koufax.

BTW, per Chris Kamka, this was the first ultimate grand slam (walkout grand slam when down 3 runs) to erase a 3-0 deficit since Sammy Byrd did it to the Reds in 1936. The only difference here is that Bote did it with 2 strikes and 2 outs, Byrd did it with no one out.
