Niners Fan in CT
So this says 52 weeks a year. For five years. Basically the performers no longer get a week off around Christmas?
odessasteps
Or a taped show? Clip show? Best of show?
PetrolCB
Didn’t they work a live Raw on Xmas this past year? I don’t think they care anymore.
Ace
Christmas night shows used to be a big thing in some areas.
PetrolCB
I knew that, but in the last 25 years they’ve always put on taped shows, until last year.
Brian Fowler
Doing a Christmas night show wasn't a big deal for a regional territory. Everyone lived in the area, did Christmas in the morning, went to the arena in the evening. It's a big difference for a national company where talent live all across the country and the show likely won't even be where the production people live. Bustronaut
I think worse is the Black Friday show. Christmas floats around the week, but Thanksgiving is ALWAYS a Thursday.
RIPPA
The claim last year was that USA wanted RAW live so it probably will be a network by network call Christmas 2019 will mean both shows get to be home for the actual holiday but it sucks for SDL because it means they will have to fly to where ever SDL is on the 26th

Infinit
What are the chances they make a second NXT branded show specifically for FS1, kind of like how WWF had Superstars and Challenge weekly?
odessasteps
They have enough folks to warrant a second show, that’s for sure
Godfrey
They could call it NXT Worldwide and have matches from the US and UK divisions as well as any future ones (Japan? Mexico? Europe?).
keith_h
Would they really want to lose the network subscribers that only have the network for NXT?
nofuture
Realistically, what percentage would that be? They can also replace it with a new show and Takeovers will still be on the Network.
HumanChessgame
Haven't xmas/Thanksgiving games always been a thing for college and professional football? Maybe they're trying to establish a similar tradition.
Dewar
Thanksgiving and Christmas used to be big time drawing nights for professional wrestling. Survivor Series started as the Thanksgiving Eve event because they realized most other sports did nothing on that night. I think they should move some of their PPV nights around. The night after the MLB All-Star game has zero sporting events, stick a PPV show on a Wednesday, and check to see how your viewership is.
odessasteps
If you do anything as a network special, be it All-Star Wednesday, Thanksgiving, Xmas or the Winter Solstice, does it really matter if people watch it live?

Niners Fan in CT
Wasn't Taboo Tuesday a big fail though? I mean because it was on a Tuesday not just because the shows sucked.
odessasteps
Have they done any of them in the network era or were they all still traditional ppv broadcasts?
Bustronaut
They were all traditional PPV. I know Starrcade and Survivor Series started off as Thanksgiving PPVs, but those were generally situated close to the head office, etc. I always wanted PPVs to be on Saturday nights when I was a kid, because they always went off the air after my bedtime (in the 80s) on school days.

I want them on Saturdays now and I'm a 30 year old man. NXT Takeovers are just as big in my house as Souled Out was when I was 10 for that very reason. Craig H
Man, I'd love it if they switched non-Takeover weekend PPVs to Saturdays. Part of me wonders if they would have made that change at some point if UFC didn't already command Saturdays as their day for PPVs and Fox/ESPN cards. I suppose boxing is a problem as well. Brian Fowler
I think boxing was why they originally went with Sunday
