I will once again be participating in the 2018 World Series of Birding with the Hackensack Riverkeeper team, the RiverCreepers, doing a about 16 hours of birding on May 12th.  Our run in the in the watershed of the Hackensack River, basically in the eastern parts of Bergen County and Hudson County as part of a fund raiser for the Hackensacker Riverkeeper, an environmental group in my area.

Since I've been on the team we've done the mid-120 species in one day range most years except the one time we got fogged in pretty bad.

We totaled 121 species this year, not bad but not great.  We missed at least 4 or 5 birds one of the teams who competes in part of our area got while we were on the other side of the lake and couldn't see what they got.  It was raining on and off during the day, which sucked but I think only cost us one species (Turkey Vulture), but fortunately, we didn't get hit with the downpours and tornado warnings reported in south jersey.
