One theory is that Beeston was so vocal about grass as a diversionary tactic over the likely inability to get a new stadium built. Now that they have (I think) finally got all the approvals for renovating their Spraing Training/Florida complex in Dunedin, they can turn totally to the Skydome. Shapiro said earlier this year the cost to put grass in would take away money from 3-4 projects that really need to be done. Grass is never going in there. Fake stuff will be fine now that the football team is gone. There was talk the price tag for renovations to the Dome was going to be in the 250-400 million dollar range. So it will be interesting to see how much the purse strings are opened up
BobbyWhioux Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 so they should be good to go when the brawl breaks out today or tomorrow after they "it got away from me" at Rizzo for his slide yesterday
Craig H Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 Diaz did a great job on the flop since Rizzo caught his shin guard, but Diaz laid there and acted like he got his calf spiked. Whatever. Hurdle has made that whole team into a bunch of babies. It starts with enabling punk asses like Sean Rodriguez and this is the ultimate result. They can't do shit on the field, so just complain and fight as much as possible to make up for your shortcomings.

No, he's much better at crying in the dugout; apparently no one told him that as opposed to wrestling, there's no crying in baseball. I will never get that awful image of a weeping Cora being consoled by A-Rod out of my head. How bad can it be when you're getting consoled by the phoniest SOB to ever lace up a pair of shoes? 1
grilledcheese Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 So, two nights ago in the 9th, Rhys Hopkins fouled a ball into his face and left the game. Yesterday, it was classified as a "fat lip" and he PH and ripped a 2B into LF, then I'm listening to the game tonight, and Rick Monday says that they CT scanned his face, and his jaw is fractured and he got listed on the 10 day today. Rough go for him. I watched a quick interview with him, he says he's seeing a specialist back in Philly tomorrow and they will figure it out from there. 1

I'm truly baffled as to how anyone can confuse a fractured jaw with a "fat lip". I've had both and they are not at all similar. The latter is mildly annoying, the former is holding your head in your hands praying for the sweet relief of death because it hurts so bad.
Lamp, broken circa 1988 Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 On the Phillies subject, even though they got worked over tonight, they did manage to significantly beat their record in May last year. 2017: 6-22 2018: 14-10 I'm takin' all the silver linings I can get my hands on, because I figure losing Rhys is gonna be Bad. 1
Hamhock Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 He's been slumping quite a bit, so the time off might be good for him. 1
Craig H Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 Alex Reyes to the DL again. Meanwhile, Darvish continues to be the player I didn't want. On the DL again for nothing. He's sucked so far. Oh, and it was revealed that he's having a sad because he things Chicago doesn't like him when he searches his name on Twitter and reads mean things about him. Darvish just comes across as a weak dude to me. I hope he gets better.
RIPPA Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 Maybe the Cubs should tell the catcher who has played one game this year to shut the fuck up
