That's a point that was discussed on WOR when Dave talked about the financials. WWE is at a point where they don't have to cater to their audience. They've been doing whatever they've wanted to do for awhile now and they've never done better. To them, if subscriber numbers keep going up and they keep making more money then why change what they're doing?

It's really just them being free to write their own story. If JK Rowling listened to her fans then you'd have a vastly different ending to Harry Potter.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the entire WWE creative staff, including Vince, is about 1/10th as talented as J. K. Rowling is when it comes to crafting a story and that's being generous.

*See WCW

Eventually the ball will drop. the audience will eventually go away and it will be very difficult to come back. Theres a large portion of WCW's audience that never came back. My old man is one of them. He stopped watching after they cut Flairs hair in June of 2000 and he hasn't watched regularly since.

Not even when he lost a "kiss my ass" match to Dusty? That was such a modern take on old school it was absolutely fantastic.

OOC- Why would people be trying to access old shows?

Not old shows - the radio show that he and Alvarez did post PPV (And then I am guessing Alvarez did another show later in the day if they followed their normal schedule)

I really don't get the "Rollins was carried" argument, since that match was like exactly the same as every other Rollins babyface match. No one's giving him credit for leaning into Miz's strikes (which are normally pretty light) or making the SCF look good which hardly anyone can do either. Saying Rollins was carried is perhaps even more idiotic than the non-existent people saying Miz was carried. Both guys brought it and it clicked for one of the better main roster matches of the year.

That was about the only thing worth a damn on this show too. Both women's matches were bad for the first time in a while on WWE ppv. The Nia babyface experiment isn't going well several weeks in, and Carmella hasn't improved in the ring since NXT. Alexa being hurt might be a blessing in disguise since it seems like the only way to get her away from the title for a while and potentially allows her to come back with a long overdue face turn.

I don't think anyone is surprised at WWE misusing Roode, but did anyone have him pegged as a smiling dancing babyface?

The low blow escalation in the AJ/Nak feud is so ridiculous I'm expecting them to recreate the torture scene from Casino Royale to escalate to their (hopefully) blowoff match.

I'm gonna take it that Raw's two best heels, top face, and a freshly-returned big name all being in a throwaway tag match isn't a good sign for the future of the show.

Roman/Joe would've been great without the 15 minutes of restholds despite no one caring about Roman. They can believably refer to the ref not calling him out in the choke as a make-up call from TGRR.

The "Rollins was carried" argument is almost as dumb as the Bryan Alvarez's of the world that think everyone is carrying Miz in the last 2 years.  Both groups need to be locked in the Observer message board and stuck there

Let me make sure that I understand this correctly, the year is 2018 and we have progressed to bitching about there being too much wrestling in our now free PPV (formerly $29.95). It's a funny old world, ain't it?

I think the only match I saw completely was Miz/Rollins. I don't think it's fair to call it a Miz carry job. It's more like Miz's style dilutes some of the more egregious stuff Rollins does. It's bound to be better than someone, like Finn, who is going to encourage Seth's worst impulses.

Rollins/Miz was amazing...probably too amazing to open the show with. Hindsight being 20/20, they should've opened with Bryan/Cass: have that big letdown of a beatdown and then a killer match to follow.

Kudos to both Bryan and Charlotte for carrying very green heels to decent matches, even though Cass had to be physically forced by Bryan to defend himself in the Yes Lock.

Is this a weekly thing now?  Lets pick apart the Rollins match that the crowd was on fire for....  ?

Yep. It normally takes place at the same time some people resolve themselves to perpetual, ritual outrage about Bayley and Sasha’s booking.

That’s pretty much all anyone was saying.

Uh no for this week I used up my "screw the bookers"  posts on Roman Reigns and the Asuka/Charlotte/Carmella triangle.  See,   I can do other things!
