The Heel Beatdowns Thread Revisited

Thomas Bugg

Recommended Posts

Had to bring this one back because just in WWE alone in the past year there have been quite a few great heel beatdowns

Paul Heyman's emotional outburst while he's taking that kendo stick to CM Punk is what I think made people buy Night Of Champions to see him get his ass whipped.

"TELL ME A JOKE! Whoop you like you stole some'n, boy!"

I remember sitting there almost a few minute after RAW went off the air with my jaw on the floor. I mean, this was just brutal!

JR: "UNLOCK THE DAMN CELL!!!"

Cole being good on commentary for once: "PLEASE MICK, SAY I QUIT!"

Dusty's gonna get his ass whooped a lot in this thread....

Ah, yes, good old non-PG WWE... It's almost jarring to the senses after 5+ years away. To me, the end of this match was the craziest WWE beatdown I've seen. The lack of hesitation and casualness with which Austin and HHH attack Lita is disturbing.

On a lighter note, here's Shane McMahon getting his junk hooked up to a car battery:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gUqQG8oZ-8

I'm trying to find a clip of the beatdowns Kaientai would do to much larger guys right before they debuted.  They'd run in ridiculously quick, do some really fast stuff followed by a Togo senton, then rush right out.

Gotta dig through those 98 Raws to find Kai En Tai beating up Bradshaw, but in the meantime, here's one of my faves, a more 2005-ish lucha version of what you're looking for.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcPhKBPoA6khh This is how it is done. Hawk comes out alone to confront Flair. Flair to his credit tries to fight him and gets his ass kicked. Bringing out the remaining Horsemen. They swarm Hawk in desperation, because they know Animal will be there soon and nobody is beating down two healthy Road Warriors. Animal gets there and they split up. Since Hawk is already hurt, Arn (The toughest Horsemen) stays on Hawk. Outside they run Animal into the post. Beat up Ellering, then Spike Piledrive Animal onto the floor. Inside they all start on Hawk.  they do a four man Gordbuster on Hawk and Flair slaps him. Best beat down in wrestling history.

Savage's heel turn on Hogan on Saturday Night's Main Event. Really intense shit for the WWF around this time.

So much great stuff about this segment: Flair carrying Beefcake, Bobby Heenan almost curses at Disney, the Horsemen (technically heels at this point) whipping Beefcake's ass (technically a face), and Arn and Flair being awesome on the mic.

That Horsemen beatdown of Beefcake is one of my favorite beatdowns of all-time. Flair going nuts, Arn going biblical and paraphrasing The Untouchables, so much win. Oh and one of my favorite Flair lines, "you think that because you woke up one day, you became a bad man? You are so wrong."

Also always had a soft spot for the Flair / Perfect beat downs of Savage, including when Razor got in the mix and cost Savage the title. Randy sold the hell out of his knee.

Nailz destroying Bossman upset me as a lad. The violence was too real when they showed the aftermath photos.

A couple of other good ones from JCP

Road Warriors turn on Sting. They hit a nasty Doomsday Device on him

The Horsemen break Dusty's leg in a cage

Been wanting to find a youtube of the Warriors spiking Dusty in the eye but could only find his promo. This classic will have to suffice. Flair, Tully and Arn jump Morton and rub his nose in the concrete

There is always the giant gangbeating Taker took in the casket match with Yokozuna... I can't find just the beatdown, only the whole match...

Of course Ric Flair telling Sting to "Smarten Up" becasue he bought him sometime is awesome!

I love Flair's barely contained rage. He absolutely sells the idea that he truly believed he was doing Sting a favor, and is morally offended by Sting's lack of gratitude.

I just love that they don't even do anything over the top. It's not even a huge beatdown. The Andersons maul him a bit but the bulk of it is them holding Sting while Flair smacks the piss out of him a few times.

He felt like he owed Sting for helping him during the time Arn and Ole were gone. He really was buying him time.

I know the story.  I just think it's funny/awesome that Flair (the character) felt that trying to force Sting to retire rather than having a title shot was him being nice, and Sting was being an ungrateful prick.
