APRIL 2018 TV DISCUSSION

Desus and Mero just had Tracy Morgan say he had his wife pull the Jimmy Valiant glass table deal for him.

Yeah.

I thought seeing my NYC buddy Danzo on the Bill and Ted trailer would be the weirdest thing on Viceland tonight, but that topped it

Man, I had such a crush on her back when that show was on the air initially, and a few times in the last couple of months, I wondered what happened to her.

This was... not what I imagined. Fucking people, man. Stupid fucking mammals.

It was revealed today in court that Allison is married to actress Nicki Clyne ( Cally from Battlestar Galactica ) who is also invovled in the cult

Kristin Kreuk and Grace Park (also B*G) were both involved at least in the public part of the group, though both strongly deny ever being part of the inner circle/sex cult.

"We were responsible for hundreds of young women getting their bank accounts milked, but we swear we weren't part of the sex ring!" Jesus wept...

I went to my first con at the peak of Smallville's popularity and had the choice of waiting an hour for Allison Mack's signature or walking right up to Wrestling Superstar Virgil's table right next to her. I'm glad my hard earned high school-era dollars went towards the right kind of fuck money.

Wow, this was one of those things I was really hoping was bs. Honestly it just seemed so out there I figured it likely was.

Yeah, I heard about this a couple weeks ago, and figured it was some wacky rumor and immediately forgot about it until Mack's arrest hit the headlines.  I was kinda debating if I should post this or not since it seems so out there.

Don't know a lot about the group, but, from everything I've heard, Park's and Kreuk's denials leave open the possibility that they were involved in a lot of shady stuff even if they weren't involved in the sex cult/inner circle stuff.

I remember hearing about this cult a good year or two ago. Seemed like one of those "too whacko to be true" deals.

Same here Tabe. Like, I heard something about it last year, googled it, read a few details on some random website, and just went "oh bullshit this is just one those internet things. Snopes will have a story on next week" and forgot all about it.

Lost In Space on Netlix is really pretty looking and actually pretty decent, but then again, I know nothing about Lost In Space so this is my first exposure to the brand. The robot thing reminds me of the Geth from Mass Effect, though.

I've seen all versions of Lost in Space and have to say Netflix's version is too good an adaptation; stuff that was cute back in the day is annoying now. They thankfully are not slavish about it thou so the changes are for the most part better. To me this is basically the successful version of Earth 2 tv show.

I was very hesitant about the drastic change from the original with the robot but dig where they went by the end. The robot becomes a pivotal plot device. The Mass Effect-ish art direction goes beyond the robot and seems to infuse the whole show, its a positive thing since everything looks snazzy as fuck.

The family dynamic they established is good. The typical teen angsty teenageer ended up being my favorite, good acting chops helped. The mechanic almost steals the show for me if I wasn't a huge Toby Stephens fan.

I'm looking forward to the second season. I hope they play up more of the Robinson Crusoe aspects of the show this time around since those were the best parts of the show, having them science the shit out of problems.

I am just sad that two of my former television girl crushes are involved in something so unbelievably vile.

I am sad.

I hope J.T.'s talking about the sex cult, and not Lost in Space.

Both.

I can take the Geth Robot, but the new Dr. Smith just infuriates me and there isn't enough of the Robinsons being the sharpest tools in the shed.

Even with the silly sci-fi trappings, the original Lost In Space got a lot of things right.  The show was all about the Robinson family surviving through adversity because they were all fucking brilliant.

Every so often, the Jupiter 2 would have to land on a planet because the Robinsons needed to perform maintenance on the ship and oh yeah, THEY EVEN FUCKING GREW THEIR OWN FOOD TO REPLENISH THEIR SUPPLIES~!

Meanwhile, Captain Kirk sat on his fucking command chair for days without so much as a bottle of water sitting in a cup holder.

Yes, we had that geek discussion about the difference between red shirts and red skirts on Star Trek like four days ago.

The Allison Mack story just gets weirder every time I read something about it.  Local paper ran a long article on the arrests that contained a few bits I hadn't heard before.  Hard to know how sorry to feel for Mack.  One the one hand, she seems to be fully culpable in a lot of heinous stuff.  On the other hand, it's a cult, so there may well be an argument for her being brainwashed and exploited by this thing too.  Not sure where the dividing line is there, though the accusations seem to get into some nasty, repugnant stuff that I'm guessing isn't going to get her any sympathy from a jury regardless of the mitigating circumstances.

Also, for some reason, I could have sworn that Mack starred in some successful Nickelodeon kids show or other.  Guess not.

@Keep Calm, Akira Hokuto On  Are you thinking of The Secret World of Alex Mack?

Lol, probably.

It could be worse.  Till I googled her, I thought Mia Khalifa was a rapper.  That was quite a rabbit hole to fall down (I'm assuming I confused her with Wiz Khalifa).

Hope you had safe search on.

Y'know, I thought of that, but by then, I had been doing....research... on Mia Khalifa for an hour or so and it seemed a little late to bother.

Spoiler

Lol, I wish I were making this up.  One afternoon, I googled Mia Khalifa thinking she was probably a rapper, discovered she was a porn star (ex-porn star by that point), and spent the rest of the afternoon looking at porn.  So, all in all, it wasn't the worst mistake I've ever made.

If she were male, you wouldn't be wondering how "sorry" to feel for her. Therefore, the answer is "not at all".
